Kevin started his career path after dropping out last year of highschool. In the 22nd of November, when he was 18, his parents had been murdered. He came back from school only to find the front door of his house slightly opened, he was assaulted by the smell of blood even before he push the door open. He walked pass the door to find a horrific scene. The scene before his eyes was the headless body of his parents sitting on a couch facing the TV. He walked backward to the front of his house, pulled his mobile phone out, and called the cops.
The murderer was never found. After that day, Kevin lived by himself. His deceased parents had no relatives, with the inheritances of 20k and the freedom he got, he decided to quit the thing he hated the most in his 18 years of living, School. he dropped out immediately and started the cycles of woke up, ate, played video game, ate again, had a bath, and went to bed. The cycles continue for 1 year straight when his money started running out. He knew that if he wanted to continue living his own selfish life, he needed to find a way to make money.
Kevin started by doing things he most familiar with, scamming people on the internet, he used to had a nickname "No life virgin scamming asshole" on his childhood online game because he scammed people out of their precious rare items, in-game money, and sometime even got some credit card information. Kevin's successful operation wouldn't have ended if he wasn't stupid enough to fall for the cute-girl-want-to-meet trick. His parents had to pay a lot to make those bastards not pursue any legal action against him and he got into so much shit because of that. He learnt his lessons. he operated his scamming operation for a year and it went so smoothly. He played it smart by only scammed a moderate amount of money at a time so his victims would feel like it's a waste of time and money to try tracking him down. His operation was a huge success. He had 25 times the amount of his inheritances in cryptocurrency. But now he faced the biggest problem he ever had, he felt lonely.
He stopped his operation for a day and decided he'd like to branch out his skills into the realms of physical world for the sake of his own sanity, so he started buying a lot of cloth for many occupations that he thought would be relatively easy and safe to impersonated as, a college student, a chef, a businessman, a company worker, a fortune teller, and an exorcist. Kevin used his wits and cunning to execute a lot of real life scamming. He found his urges fulfilled when he's in a role. And after 2 years of pure adventures, he decided his next role would be an exorcist.
He did his research and decided to move to Borell, countryside village at the east border of Avignal Kingdom, his research showed the high rate of supernatural event claims, most if not all of the villagers are religious, for him this is the place most suitable for his exorcist act. At dusk, He came out of the public transport bus dressed in all black with a suit case in his right hand, a silver cross amulet around his neck, and a black leather book clutched firmly between his left hand and the left side of his chest. The atmosphere of the town could be described as serene and a little bit eerie. He crossed the road in his confident posture and headed straight to the village chief office right next to the town hall. He pushed open the door and walked into the office, scanned the room and spotted a cranky cowboy in his forties dressed in a typical cowboy outfit. The man looked up from a book to meet his eyes.
"You must be Mr. Thomas right?" Kevin said while extending his hand for a handshake.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Thomas stood up and shook his hand. "And you must be father Kevin"
"You are rather young for an exorcist, don't you think?” Thomas looked directly into his eyes. “You sure you can handle the haunted house you just bought?"
"Of course Thomas!, I've studied exorcism for my whole life, inherited directly form my great great great grandfather, generations to generations, there's no need for you to worry about me at all."
Thomas nodded."I won't waste anymore of your time then, please follow me"
He noted a desert eagle in the holster on the right hip of village chief when he followed him, they walked about 15 minutes before they reach their destination, along the way some villagers greet Thomas and eyed Kevin with what could only be described as hope filling their eyes, "Calm yourself Nora" was one of the respond Thomas said to the beautiful young woman who couldn't stop herself from crying after she greet him.
"We've arrived, the last house in the village, look further and you will see that it's a forest, go in there and you won't come back out, or at least that's what happen to the people before you" Thomas look straight to the jungle half a kilometer away from Kevin's home.
He, with a serene smile on his face, nodded his head to Thomas."I will sit on that, thank you for your service Thomas, I really appreciate it"
"It's no problem at all father, I hope we can talk again tomorrow, have a nice rest." Thomas tipped his hat and walked back the way they came.
He fully took in the sight of his new home and felt the same awe he had when he visited an ancient castle in Grolka with his parents. Pretty ancient huh. He couldn't stop thinking how stupid these people are to sold this place for just 15k, everybody with brain know there's no such things as ghosts.
Let's settle in then. Kevin grab a wooden door handle and turn it clockwise, he pushed the door open, grabbed a book and his suitcase, and then walked through the doorway. There're some dust on furniture but overall the house was in a decent enough state. Bathroom was tiny but functioned well, a little kitchen boot was usable, the bedroom was compact but the bed itself was king-size so there's not much empty space left in the bedroom, and there's a door to the basement, a door which had some weird symbol paper stuck at the middle of it.
This is the part that make this house haunted, isn't it? He pushed open the door to find concrete steps leading down to the dark basement. He pressed the button 1.5 meters above the first concrete step, the light in the basement turned on, and he steadily walked down the steps to see what's inside this haunted basement of his.
He looked at the weird stone altar in the middle of the basement, it shaped like a unique creature he'd never seen before, head of a rat, top part body of a crooked spine human, scaly human hands, and below waist part body of a snake. Whoah...that's kinda cool. There's nothing else in this pretty spacious basement except for the altar, so he walked up to it to examine its face closely. He ran his right hand around the face of the altar. Such an excellent craftsmanship, how can someone carve such a detailed rat face that exude so much of malicious intents?
There's so much empty spaces down here, if things work out well, I can turn this place into my personal hideout. so many ideas ran through his head, this expedition was such an exciting one for him, all of his past roles were in the city with an internet, so all of his problems could always be solved with his wealth, but now that he was here, a village with no cell-phone signals, no internet connections, life here would be so much more challenging and he's looking forward to it.
I think I should get some sleep. He walked up the steps out of the basement, when he closed the door he decided to tear the weird symbol paper down too. How could things that aren't real do anything to me? He headed to his bedroom, when his head hit the pillow, he's out cold.
