chapter 2 - clouds
...
That was a weird dream.
…
It was about the girl in Mrs. Kelms class. I've seen her only once but I can still remember how she looks like. We were by the cliff. Looking towards the sea. The waves were moving in closer and closer to the land and crashed into the beaches, sounding its infamous and relaxing noise.
I've been here before. It's a unique place. A place my mother took me when we first moved here.
I wonder if I'll see it again.
...
Ugh. My room’s a mess. Why can’t I just be organized. There's clothes and stuff everywhere. How did this even happen. I thought my room was clean yesterday.
Ugh, it’s Monday. Who even likes Mondays, they’re just depressing and sad. Like who wants to go back to work, or back to school…
School.
We go back to school today. This day is very depressing.
It's 7:30 A.M. I guess I'm gonna be late for school.
Online school seemed so great and perfect. Waking up late, staying in, not too much homework (although you can tell the teachers were stressed). Those were the days then went on by, but now they had to change it. In the beginning of December. The semester is about to end and now they want us to go back, in the cold.
I don’t know what the school is thinking, but at least we can see our friends now.
“SLEEPING BEAUTY! GET UP FROM BED AND GET YOUR ASS MOVING!”
“Ok Mom! I’m up, I just overslept.”
Well she's mad now, so I guess I'll get ready.
“YOUR LATE FOR SCHOOL!”
I didn’t reply, she was starting to be annoying, no offense mom.
I packed all my books and notebooks and prepared some cereal.

Ugh. I got soccer practice. I told the coach that it was gonna be wet today. Now we got to play in the mud. We don’t even play on grass, it’s mostly just dirt and asphalt. At least we got a soccer ball and two goals. And a whole team. And soccer in general.
Many sports have been cancelled, but soccer was one of the few that didn't, along with tennis and football. Which is a little unfair, but I don't mind.
I haven’t talked to my friends in a long time. I wonder if they’ve changed. I know I haven’t. I've been watching a lot of TV shows and playing a few games, I was never into video games, but some are very entertaining.
Ugh. If I keep thinking, then I'm really gonna get there late.
It was misty outside. As if the clouds have fallen and roamed around near the land. It covered the sky, but you could still see the houses down below. So the visibility wasn’t that bad.
I genuinely like the fog, there's some warmth I feel when it’s cold and windy, where I could just cozy up and enjoy the sherpa sweater I have. It was black and had a small pocket.
San Francisco could just feel like a city of peace and tranquility.
I haven’t been in Downtown in years, But I’ve been going to places like Merced Lake, San Bruno, and Mussel Rock Park to hike and spend some time taking pictures of the wildlife. Merced Lake was the nearest big park where I could enjoy and take photos of the lake and nature. The airport was also near so sometimes you could see the airplanes takeoff from the house and see them slowly disappear into the clouds. I have a photo of this, but it's a little bit blurry. I don’t know if this ruins the photo or makes it a masterpiece.
As I start leaving the house, I always need to go down the mountain, which is the steepest sidewalk I’ve ever walked down. But since I have a bicycle, I easily ride down it with no worry and struggle. I always see people struggling to get up, but since I've been accustomed to it, it just seems normal to me.
I still can’t get the dream off of my head. It was the most lucid and real dream I’ve had in months, the last being a party that went wrong, I know, a little weird. I don’t even know her name. I know I’ve seen her in Kelms, but I have a feeling that I’ve seen her somewhere else.
Must be a small city.
——————————————————
The school isn’t big, in my opinion, I think it's one of the smallest in the area. There's literally two buildings. One filled with most of the classes split by corridors and including the cafeteria, and the other being the gymnasium.
The campus lot was big and consisted mostly of the hill the high school lay in. Behind the school, towards the slope, was the soccer and football field. Behind that was the cliff. It wasn't a steep cliff that had a sheer drop to the ocean, but there was a dead tree below. A beach lay down there, but after sunset it would always be consumed by the ocean.
I see Karl.
I know him. I don’t personally know him, but I always see him with a girl, either way he’s in one of my classes. He’s in my english class with Mr. Englorne. He doesn;t talk too much in the class. Maybe it's because I talk too much in the class. No, I don’t think that's the reason why.
He’s at the steps of the school.
I’ll let him be. It's not like I want to talk to him. I have to lock up my bike either way.
Kids always climb the fence that “protects’ the bikes from being stolen. But also they climb it after school to open the gate since the counselor opens the gate to the bike rack 20 minutes after school ends. I guess some people don't have patience.
My first period is APUSH with Mr. Whitford. He's a nice teacher, he always hits on a girl named Jessica, so yeah, he's a little bit weird. But he does go off topic a lot so I guess that a plus. He doesn’t give too much homework, but the chapter review notes are difficult to manage.
“So where have you been?”
“Oh hi Mrs. Danvers. I haven’t been out of the house for a long time, so that’s where I have been! How have you been?”
That was Mrs. Danvers. She’s been divorced two times already which is a red flag on its own. She gained a fortune from one of them so she drives a Mercedes and a G Wagon. Not at the same time, but she could possibly do so.
“Hmmm. I don’t know! I haven’t done much, except online shopping, you know what I mean! It's been a long time, everyone’s been saying that! It's so good to have you guys back, mostly you!” She said with a wink.
“Yeah it’s been, what 9 months? Almost 10! I’ve done nothing but play video games and soccer!” I said with a short laugh.
“I bet you’ve gotten stronger.” she replied with a smirk.
“Oh! Look, the first period is about to start. I have to head to APUSH! Sorry but we can talk later! Bye!”
She didn’t have time to reply as I closed the door on her. She was the vice principle and she has a problem flirting with boys. That was the fifth time she has done that to me specifically, but I know for a fact that
I quickly took a left turn into a long hallway. Room 11 was the class I was looking for. Sometimes I forget if it's either on the right or left.
Eight. Nine. Ten. Finally eleven.
