Chapter 0 - Prologue

Aliad, the country of mages, it was their centennial celebration from its founding. Located in the harsh northern continent of the Ice Front, it was well protected from all matters, added with the protection of the Draconian empire. The Fl’inx Empire of Black Dragons, the strongest race in all of Arun. With their long lifespan they have made the world respect them, they value peace and reason as opposed to dragons who would rather inspire fear and despair. They do not meddle in the affairs of the world, more content in their own lands. This makes the Ice Front a perfect escape for those who seek solitude, or a location that is filled with experiments.

Magic is a new affair. It was studied for thousands of years and only now is there a nation of mages capable of studying to their hearts’ content. Reviled by most kingdoms as a plague to the world. Defiling the natural ways, they were feared. Banished from their own homes, struggling to survive without any help. Many died not because of these treatments but rather because they did not know how to control their own powers. Some would go crazy and raze a town, further emphasizing the world’s fear. Their struggles are ended by Asmodeus, the Mage King of Aliad.

King Sabin and Crown Prince Granden of the Fl’inx Empire have been invited to join the celebration in Aliad.

“But father,” said Shade, the second son of King Sabin. He had red hair and eyes similar to his father and brother, a trait shared by all red draconians. His skin was a dark golden brown as opposed to the brighter skin of his family members. As the second son, Shade was not entitled to the throne and as such was free to do what he wished which was lazing about outside.

“No young man,” said King Sabin sternly. His build was muscular and of the same height as his sons at six feet. Though his form was imposing, you could tell the intelligence from his eyes, this was something only a king would gain. “This is a private affair and you are not allowed to come.”

“Its only one extra person father, I’m sure King Asmodeus would not mind,” said Granden. Similar to his father, he too was of muscular build and also a scholar. He was groomed to be like his father but with the difference of taking care of his brother more often than his father.

“These mages are creating a kingdom for themselves. It is a new occurrence, we cannot be careless. I would rather respect them than have their ire. If they only wish two from the royal family then only two can go. And I would rather have you to come with so that you can learn how to be a king when my time is over.”

King Sabin went next to Shade and put one hand over his shoulder and said, “I’m doing this for our kingdom. We must have friendly relations with them. Once we do, you can visit Aliad anytime you want, alright?”

“Alright father,” said Shade with a smile.

King Sabin laughed and said, “My son, you are already fifteen. A man in the eyes of all men but for us you are still such a child.”

And so King Sabin and Prince Granden traveled to Aliad. As Red Draconians, they traveled by flying in their Dragon Transformation.

The celebration would last a week. During this time, King Sabin and Prince Granden were creating friendly relations with the mages in Aliad. They were then invited to a demonstration by a fellow mage of Asmodeus. This mage said that it was a new spell, one that would change the world.

At the presentation, the whole area was filled with darkness magic and it made the eyes of all present fear for what was happening was not just magic, but destruction.

A wild laughter rang throughout the area and all went black. Aliad began to float and a dark energy gathered all around it. Soon a shockwave went out spreading this energy all over Arun. It infected everything and everyone.

At this time, Shade was looking over the distance to where Aliad was and saw the dark energy as it got sent to him. It pushed him down and was knocked unconscious.
