Prologue
Grumble~
The sound of his stomach grumbling woke him up. He found himself sitting against a wall in an alleyway.
“...”
He looked around and found four animals sleeping beside him covered in a blanket.
The animals weren't normal animals though.
They were covered in scales and had horns. They also had sharp snouts and wings.
They were... dragons.
“...”
The boy stood up. He walked quietly and peeked out the alleyway.
There, he saw wooden stalls upon wooden stalls. A market place full of handmade stores.
Stores that sold all sorts of things. Fruits, meat, accessories, and even weapons.
Stores, that sold these things at a very low price.
For this place, is part of the slums.
The boy checked each of the stalls. Stalls that sold food.
One in particular caught his eye. It was a stall selling apples.
Though he was concerned about leaving the dragons for a while, he was hungry and he needed to bring something back for them as well.
As the boy walked out of the alley way, the light of the sun bathed him.
The boy wore a tattered mantle. But because he wore a hood, his features were hidden.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
Just like his mantle, the rest of his clothes were tattered.
He surveyed the area.
Not many people, not few either.
“...”
The boy blended himself into the crowd and walks nonchalantly towards the stall.
He passes in between the stall and other people walking by.
He turned his body sideways as if excusing himself from the other party passing by but was really stealing a few apples.
“...”
He surveyed his surroundings once more.
(...Good. No one seems to have noticed...)
Having successfully getting some food, he returned to the dragons.
The boy looked at the place where the dragons slept.
Each dragon slept soundly so the boy smiled.
The boy then looked at the apples he took. He had two. Not much, but in the slums, this is a lot.
The boy doesn't steal food many times because he's been here for a while. Meaning, that the vendors around might recognize his clothes and become suspicious.
He took the apples and a knife from its scabbard hidden in his mantle. There he divided the two apples in halves.
He woke up the four dragons and...
Gave the four pieces to them.
