Clash of Gods - Chapter 4 - The Wild

This Chapter i kind of edited it on a rush, i believe there are going to be some, if not many, mistakes and places that i would like to describe better so anything funny sounding plz tell me.

And on another note im starting school tomorrow but today im leaving by plane to the place it is so do wish me luck

Nass

I was giddy about finally leaving the dungeon where I started.

The elevator stopped and I could see sunlight between the vines and leaves. Moving through them I stepped outside and breathed clean fresh air for the first time in about 6 hours, this meant that less than 2 hours had passed outside the capsule

The clock moved 4 times faster in game than on real life, I felt that I had a lot more time to play without being interrupted, ‘the game is just getting interesting’ I though with a smile even though I did not know what I was going to do.

‘Well now I have somewhere to go at least’ I planned to find a human town anyway as my started gear was in pieces.

Now knowing my course of action, I examined my surroundings, and from what I could see it was a normal, if overgrown forest, there were all matter of living beings scurrying everywhere from mice, rabbits and, fox to the occasional unidentified creature.

After thinking for a while I came to a conclusion ‘If you want to search for something you need to go up’ with the added height I would probably be able to find a human town, so after finding a nearby tree with the biggest trunk I could, I started to climb it.

It took me about 10 minutes to get to the top and that because of the occasional squirrels that came near me and tried to bite my fingers.

As I reached the top a little winded, I could finally see what I climbed for.

Everywhere I looked there were trees, some small some big and some towered over everything else as if protecting little ones from the sun, straining my eyes I found what I was looking for, there appeared to be some kind of fortresses in random places of the forest, and a large river with a gated bridge.

Inspecting this scene I decided to move towards one of this castle like structures which was closest to me at about 600 meters, deciding the castle was my north now, I started to climb down the tree.

Reaching the floor I decided to stretch and calm myself without moving the points of my feet, because I did not want to take a wrong path.

Doing some intricate moves to stretch all my muscles while breathing deeply I started at a running pace towards my destination. ‘Ding’

You’ve entered Meditative State

I kept running, jumping roots avoiding branches, until night fell and I started to feel fatigue again and a faint hunger under my Meditative State which I learned to detect after my first Blood Rage.

I was exasperated as I thought, ‘I should have arrived by now, is this a feature in the game, different lengths of measures in what one perceives and what actually is’ and ‘I probably could keep running indefinitely if it were my real body’ as I did not want to lose control of myself again, I decided to hunt and keep running, as I wanted to find shelter and something to do fast.

‘First thing to do is look at the resources you have’ With that though in mind I reached for my backpack which was mostly intact from all disintegration, after taking what’s left of my shirt and laying it on the floor I dumped all items in the backpack onto it.

Or tried to as nothing seem to fall, a normal person would probably think that the backpack itself was empty as it made itself almost as light as air as one of its characteristics, but I could feel it, the weight it had could not be that of an empty backpack.

As I got frustrated I yelled “How do you take something out of the backpack”

-Help Tip

To open backpack or ‘Inventory’ it’s necessary to either say the word ‘Inventory’ or stick your hand inside. To close ‘Inventory’ you have to say ‘Close’ or think the word with purpose.

Would you like to reactivate tips about the game different aspects?

‘How very helpful, if unrealistic’ after reading the Tip I promptly said yes, as I did not have any real idea of what to do.

What appeared was a surprise as it should not possibly be able to fit in the backpack, 8 big loafs of bread, a big canteen full of water, a small knife, and a 8 meters long rope, all this appeared in front of me as a window to choose the object from, when I touched the option I wanted, and bread seemed to pop out of the backpack as if playing peek-a-boo.

I took it out and after taking a bite, which tasted awful; I left in a place that had rabbit tracks on it.

I still had my Meditative State used as I feared what would happen if I stopped, I stealthily moved towards the side of a tree and waited.

As I waited I had a though, ‘what if I used my dark aura to make me more invisible’ with that I closed my eyes and tried to search inside me, as I was soul bonded with the book it stood to reason that I could feel it if I tried.

As I cast my mind inside my body I could feel something dark trapped in my heart something I had not felt before, not necessarily evil but simply a comforting darkness. As I coaxed that darkness a little it felt as if it wanted to stay hidden but still seemed to pour out at my insistence, as I opened my eyes everything now looked crystal clear.

I could hardly differentiate night from day and I seemed to be surrounded by darkness.

Aura Manipulation Activated Begginer level 1(12%)

Together with Meditative State, and your Bonded Book you are now able to create a shroud of darkness around yourself. Find new ways to uncover its secrets.

10 mana per second while in use

It was not perfect for any stretch of the word, this I discovered when a bunny came near the bread and I got excited, making my shroud glow a little golden and my presence felt.

Before I could throw the knife a fox appeared out of nowhere and ate the rabbit.

I was astonished my prey was stolen by a fox, getting angry I could feel my Hunger rising but kept it under control.

I seemed to have made some noise because the fox seemingly surprised jumped and looked at me, its face seemed to crinkle in terror as it saw my aura which was the color of blood when Deoxygenated and not spread.

It started running and I gave chase with both my saw knife and bastard sword, it was faster than it appeared and it was able to run from me but after 5 minutes of chasing I caught the fox on a dead end.

It turned ready to fight to the dead. I felt the hunger increase the more I ran now my shroud seemed to expand to cover things around me the only thing the fox could see were a pair of red slitted eyes, and as the shroud moved a little of my body.

It ran at me trying to bite my legs, instead it bit air as I jumped and grabbed a nearby branch, I tried to land on its head with a stomp but it was able to dodge at the last second, and make some distance between us.

I sheathed my blades as an idea blossomed in my head, the fox tried to make the same move and charged at my legs to stop my movement, but before it could bite me I had already thrown my hands and body ahead of me as if to make a handstand.

Instead of using the ground I landed on the foxes head just above its eyes, using my weight and the speed of my charge, I forced it to the ground while taking a hold of its pelt, with my speed weight and the foxes I finished the front flip and threw the fox with all my strength.

It landed against a tree and seemed to break many bones as it could no longer move and was whining, I approached it, my consciousness almost slipping to darkness through the force of the hunger, took it in my hand said “sorry fox but you die so I may live longer” and bit its neck as delicately as I could.

The fox seemed to know it was going to die and embraced death, its flavor was not as good as the Cave Dwellers, instead of a rush they gave me the fox seemed to taste of acceptance, and it did calm my hunger completely, it died calm and painless.

Affinity with Nature Stat added

Nature knows its cycle and you respect that, less chance to gain hostility from the race a monster killed. Gain this stat to uncover its secrets.

The fox looked grey wherever there was no fur, I hesitated about what to do for the fox and decided to leave it there on the ground ‘as its death body will serve as food for other living beings’ I truly felt sorry, I would prefer to kill human players or intelligent monsters that liked to do bad things, but I still did it and would again.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

I started to run again to the human settlement, now with the hunger gone I could relax and let myself enter the Meditative State.

I ran and hunted, ran and hunted for two days straight almost all Animals I encounter would end at my sword, there were foxes sometimes and some wolfs with which I almost died, I kept running almost sure of myself that wherever I had as goal it was now probably unreachable, the only thing that kept me running were the announcements.

Most level ups where when I killed the wolves(level, 9-18) of different sizes somewhere as small as foxes some had almost my size.

I could feel someone was following, but did not know who it was or what to do. After feeding on a fox, on the third day of running, I decided to try and take them by surprise.

I searched for a large tree near others, when I found one I took a fist sized rock to my backpack and started climbing while using stealth in a way that did not shake the tree, when I was about 5 meters of height I hid on a branch activated my shroud of darkness, took the rock out and threw it to a nearby tree making the branches move as if someone was going through them, I could see the rock fall to the ground.

I waited an hour until they went out to a place I could see to talk, there were two creature both only with leather armor they looked mostly human except for the fur they had all over, one was a wolf with gray fur, 190 cm tall had leather armor and pants with a broad sword at its side, the other one a fox with orange golden fur, smaller with a height of 163, but what most distinguished them as not human were their animal ears and tail or tails with the fox,

I could not hear them from where I was so I concentrated on them and after a ping started to hear clearer than before.

Beast Ear Activated.

“… Scentless” the wolf said with a gruff voice.

“Well we normally rely on your superior sense of smell but this hunt we had to make do with my hearing because you could not detect anything” the fox said in an irritated tone

“yes but you said that since you saw a rock fall that following where it disturbed the branches was stupid but he probably left the rock on purpose so that we hesitated, even though impressive it may be that the strange elf detected us, now I don’t know what we should do to tell our superiors that we lost him, you are supposed to be the wise one.” The wolf said complaining

“Well lets first go back home then we can think of what to do”

With that said they both turned and started to leave, wanting to know about their home I decided to jump on the wolf as it seemed to be the stronger of the two.

But I must have done some noise because when I jumped at the wolf with my sword in both hands, pointed at the back of its neck, but he moved just before it hit making me plunge the sword into the earth and without a single space for though the sword of the fox came at me having to let the sword go and making a jumping back flip I could barely avoid getting my neck sliced.

Making space between us I took my dagger out and prepared for a fight.

“What the hell do you want and why have you been following me?”

The wolf and fox looked astonished as if they did not expect me to be able to talk.

When nobody seemed to move the fox took the initiative”creature you have been hunting in our territory and running directly to our home, why we want to know, do you seek us.”

I was surprised at what they said as it was a complete surprise that I was heading anywhere, I had decided to simply run and hunt while I could until I found something.

“I did not know this was your territory neither that I was going to your home, but now that you tell me I would like to go to this place you talk about as I have no home for myself.” I was talking in the tone of voice most polite I could muster but even then they did not drop their guard.

The fox was the one to answer “there are three ways to enter to our cities are two”

The wolf continued as if it was an in- joke and practiced between them to look eerie which they did, “The First is death, as no outsider, be it human, dwarf or elf should know of us.”

“Second is serving in our mines as a slave until you are deemed worthy of letting go.”

“Third is gaining status of citizenship by going through the Blood Games and surviving”

At this last both wolf and fox smiled with mouths full of filed teeth.

I prepared myself for it but I was not completely ready when both sprinted to each of my sides.

I jumped and rolled towards my sword that was still impaled on the ground, but not without a large cut to my right arm from the fox, as they seemed to know what I was about to do,’ if I had been a moment later I would have been death’.

-80 HP

I took the sword on my left as it was heavier than my dagger and prepared myself for another charge.

This time the wolf charged first, still faster that I thought he could be but I still dodged downwards, only to see the fox’s sword coming straight to me.

Parrying the sword with my own gave me the opportunity to slash the leg of the wolf though its fast movement did not let me do more than a little cut.

The fight kept coming, I had to avoid the wolfs slower attacks because they were more powerful, and parry the speed attacks from the fox, but both of them were faster and stronger than me and after ten minutes I felt myself growing slower.

‘The bastards could have ended the fight long ago but decided not to” I was frustrated, normally any fight I got into I won, and they don’t fight better than me, if it was only one on one I could have taken them, but they seemed to cover the weakness of the other.

They seemed irritated too that an unknown elf could fight the both of them and survive for so long, they decided to end the fight the wolf on my front attacked and I using both knife and sword blocked, only to fall on my knees from the power behind the strike, and as I started to move the fox hit my head with the handle of his knife making all the world around me black.

You have been taken prisoner death is your only exit.

‘so I can go unconscious in the game’ was the first though I had when I felt myself awaken,”what is this in my mouth, yum” was the second, I was being carried tied with a rope between the fox and wolf,

“Why was I tied like this, isn’t it inconvenient” I asked as I was surprised because of the distance I had with both of them.

The fox carrying my feet with the rope looked at me laughed and answered, “you woke up a while ago and went ape shit crazy, bit Wolgrr here and started drinking his blood in a savage matter he almost lost his spine to your teeth, I had to hit you again until you almost died, thanks Gaia I had a Health potion and some healing magic or we would had tied you to a tree and left to heal him”

I was surprised to say the least, looked at Wolgrr who had an air of irritation tinged with a little fear, but there was a more pressing issue I had to know, “where are you taking me”

When I said this, the atmosphere around the wolf changed to a cheerful one as he answered “to the Blood Games”

I remember what the fox and wolf told me before and how they had smiled when they talked about it, I did not try to hide my grin and flash of red eyes in anticipation as I thought about it ‘this is going to be fun’

Or at least that’s what I thought before a small alarm sounded.

To log out Say ‘Log Out’ wanting to leave the Game

Left with little choice i said the words but without noticing the uneasy stares that the wolf and fox shared.

“Log Out” once again my mind went blank.
