Clark's Journey
First Steps

First Steps

The boy named Clark was born in a small town called Littinburg. Littenburg was in the middle of a large forest and there was no outside contact to the town. He was born to a wealthy family that ran the town. His father was the lord of the town and the family were the celebrities of the town, everyone trying to earn their favor. As a young boy he was taught by the best tutors in town. He had the world in front of him and all the tools to take it for himself. But He did not want. He was the type of person to live his own way, without worries of the future and going on ignorant to the world and venturing out free of the shackles of his family and responsibilities.

Clark was born in the town’s hospital, in room 503. The birth of the eldest son of the Yarachi family was a much-anticipated event in the town, with the Yarachi family being the celebrities of town featured on the Daily Litt, the town’s newspaper, almost every day. There was a party right at the hospitals doorstep with the entire town gathered there with food, drinks, music and more. When the baby was born and received into the new mother’s arms, she was wheeled outside to the party and met by everyone. The father proud of his newest accomplishment, his only and first son, gave a speech, entrusting the town to take care of his son, and when he was old enough, have his son take care of the town. The townspeople rejoiced and were merry for the rest of the week. Clark’s growth from his first words to his first steps was closely followed on the Daily Litt, with the townspeople dropping gifts off at the Yarachi family house after each event in the child’s progress to greatness.

When the Clark reached the age of 10, he went to seek an audience with his very busy father, to announce his dream. Clark went down the hallway in his family’s mansion passing by the many butlers, and maids to his father’s study and threw open the door announcing his arrival. His father and the advisors were in a meeting and looked over at the unwelcome intrusion by Clark. Clark’s father told his son off, and that this was an important meeting, but Clark insisted he listen. His father wanted to have none of it, so he told his son to tell him and the family at dinner then shooed him out of the room and shut the door in Clark’s face. Clark, discouraged by the moment went back to his room and opened his journal. He started to plan out his adventure, going off on his own to adventure and discover the world, dreaming of going outside and discovering the land outside of his stuffy town.

At dinner, the family gathered and sat in the elaborate dining room within the mansion. The servants going in and out of the kitchen with different plates and dishes for the evening dinner. At the end of the meal Clark stood and announced to his family his plans to leave the town and journey outside. His parents were shaken by the sudden announcement and his younger brother and sister were puzzled wondering why he would want to venture out of town. Everything that they ever needed or wanted was in the town. His parents wondered where they went wrong, they catered to Clark’s every need, given him the best tutors, and prepared him as much as possible for his eventual becoming Lord of the town. His father countered saying “No, your place is here as the young lord of Littenburg just as I have promised to the town and my father to me and his father before him.” Clark’s mother said “there is nothing out there but the forest, monsters, wolves, poisonous things, and whatever other horrid things waiting to end my precious boy’s life. I forbid you from stepping out of town!” Clark was taken aback by his family’s disapproval and went back to his room. He ripped out the pages in his book about his dream and instead this time decided to plot his escape from town and thought about what to gather for his adventure. He was a bright young boy so the next day he went out into town gathered the necessary equipment but in small amounts over the course of the week so as not to arouse his parent’s suspicions about his escape. He got his bag, food, a flask for water, his wooden sword, extra clothes, and toiletries. The day of his big adventure had arrived, so he told his parents he was going out to see the town and then got his bag and left. He walked to the edge of the town on the dirt path. He was anxious and excited, finally his great big adventure was going to begin, he snuck around the town guards and went into the forest. Walking through the tall trees, for what seemed like hours, his excitation soon turned into boredom. With nothing to do but walk, he started to whistle a tune and picked up a stick to practice different moves to use on opponents and any monsters along the way. He was quite confident in his skills. After a while, his stomach grumbled so he stopped and decided to eat what he had the servants pack. He ate his lunch, and the drank the rest of flask and then continued. He soon got hungry again and started to reach into his pack, but then realized that he had already eaten everything he had and packed an afternoon’s worth of food and drink for the journey of a lifetime. He decided that he would go back to get more food, then continue the journey. Clark turned around and started to walk but he realized he did not know the exact way back to town and was lost in the forest. His mind raced and thought that he would be stuck out here forever, never being able to find his way home and he would die out here all alone. Clark ran in desperation in no particular direction hoping to get back to town quickly. He stopped to catch his breath but saw that he had not gotten anywhere, there was still miles of trees and forest all around. Clark then noticed there was a sound of splashing, so he started to walk towards it and found a running stream. He knelt and thirstily drank deeply from it. A shadow passed behind Clark and his fight or flight was activated and got into a defensive stance quickly with his wooden sword drawn. There was a rustling in the bushes and then a small wild boar came out. The tiny boar looked bewildered and was tired. Clark seeing it was a tiny boar started to relax, but then there was a loud roar behind the boar and a giant muscled black panther came out of the forest, and snatched the tiny boar into his mouth and chomped down spilling blood all over the ground. The panther then laid eyes his deep green eyes on Clark and growled. The thought of Clark being snatched like that and eaten quickly crossed Clark’s mind, he had never felt fear like this before and took off up stream. The panther pleased that his snack led him to meal, walked behind Clark keeping pace with his long strides that matched the young boy’s running. Clark putting all his energy into his feet and ran quite literally for his life. The young boy ran, jumping over rocks, ducking under trees, and hid in a bush hoping he had lost the ferocious creature. But the panther had never lost his meal, he silently walked around and hovered right over the bush that the boy hid in. The panther swiped at the bush with his right paw and the boy was thrown out of the bush and violently into a tree trunk. Clark was in immense pain and saw a giant gash over his chest bleeding out. He truly feared for his life for the first time, never seeing this much blood before and tried to keep consciousness. The black panther slowly crept towards the bleeding body. The panther wanted to play with his meal more, but his hunger got the best of him and opened his jaws wide, bearing his large fangs at Clark. Clark thought that was the last he would ever see when an arrow flew into the side of the panther’s neck. Clark saw a man jump of the trees, sword in hand, yelling at the panther, and stabbed the blade right into the giant panther. That was the last thing Clark saw before his mind drifted away.
