Section 1: A Glimpse of Family Joy
Location – Vanguard's Family House: Front yard
Time – Day
Scene One: The Soccer Game
The sun beat down mercilessly on the front yard where Zel and his brothers, Azriel, Thorne, and Lariel, engaged in an intense soccer match. Their parents and younger sister, Amanda, watched from the sidelines, their cheers blending with the sound of the ball being kicked back and forth.
As the game progressed, tensions mounted with each passing minute. Zel and Lariel, normally inseparable, found themselves on the same team, teamed up against Thorne and Azriel. The first 20 minutes of the game were indeed remarkably interesting. No one had a goal on the other. Suddenly, Lariel decided to become self-fish with the ball causing Azriel’s team to gain the upper hand and scored a goal. By the end of the first 40 minutes of play, Azriel’s team had surged ahead with a lead of 4-0.
“What’s wrong with you Lariel, you need to pass me the ball.” said Zel, now pissed at Lariel. With a cheeky smirk on his face, Lariel replied, “Relax bro, I’ve got this,” beating his chest as he speaks.
“You clearly do not have it under control. We are down by 4,” said Zel.
Zel and Lariel then moved to the center of the field to pass the ball, after conceiving the 5th goal. Zel passes the ball to Lariel, who immediately dashed forward on an attack to their opponent's goal post. Zel, seeing this, dashed forward too. As Lariel was getting closer to Thorne, Zel created an opening to ask for the ball. Unfortunately for him, Lariel did not pass the ball. Thorne then performed a shoulder tackle on Lariel and stole the ball.
Seeing this, Zel immediately charges towards Thorne to defend the ball as he and Azriel move towards their goal post. Zel yells out to Lariel for help.
“You’ve got this one bro.” Lariel replied, catching his breath as he does so.
Unfortunately, Zel was unable to stop the attack, leading to a score of five to zero, and the end of the game.

Scene Two: Parental Observation
We then witness George, their father, chuckling as he observes the unfolding game.
“Lariel certainly knows how to test his limits. You know, my dear, Zel has all the makings of a great leader," George remarked to Ella, his wife.
“That's very likely, darling. I had a vision where I saw him leading troops into battle," Ella replied.
George then noticed Amanda watching her brothers intently as they played on the field. With a playful grin, he scooped up Amanda, who appeared eager to join the fun, from her mother's embrace and whisked her into the house.

Scene Three: Tag
Back at the field, Zel confronted Lariel, his frustration palpable as he voiced his irritation.
“This is the last time I’m teaming up with you,” Zel declared, the familiar exchange between the brothers echoing across the yard. Their banter continued as they deftly maneuvered the ball, each trying to outwit the other.
With a mischievous grin, Lariel fired back, “You said that last game too, remember?”
“Yeah, well, this time I mean it,” Zel asserted, attempting to maintain his resolve amid Lariel's teasing. But before he could finish, Lariel interjected, “And the time before that,” prompting Zel to roll his eyes in exasperation. “Okay, okay, point taken. Let’s just chill,” Zel conceded, knowing the argument was futile.
As Zel and Lariel engaged in their typical sibling rivalry, Azriel and Thorne mirrored their antics on the opposite end of the field. Eventually, Zel proposed a change of pace, suggesting a game of tag to break the tension. Gathering at the center, the brothers hashed out the rules, with Lariel volunteering to be the first seeker.
Maintaining a safe distance, Azriel, Zel, and Thorne awaited Lariel's countdown. With a playful grin, Lariel began his pursuit, kicking off a spirited game of tag that kept them entertained for the next 30 minutes, the thrill of the chase overshadowed only by the looming storm on the horizon.
Sensing the worsening weather, Ella called the boys inside, her maternal instinct urging caution. Despite Ariel's plea for a few more minutes of play, Ella insisted they come in to avoid falling ill. Zel nodded in agreement, mindful of his mother's concerns and the importance of staying healthy.
As they made their way indoors, Lariel proposed a playful challenge: the last one inside would have to share their turkey dinner with the others. Determined to emerge victorious, the boys raced toward the door, their laughter filling the air. But as fate would have it, Lariel stumbled, his momentary setback giving his brothers an advantage. Undeterred, he quickly regained his footing and resumed the race with renewed determination.
Meanwhile, Ella, preparing to shepherd the boys inside, found herself intercepted by George. “Time for a shower, honey,” Ella remarked, her hands reaching out to gather Amanda. After a brief exchange of affection, Ella gently nudged George aside, playfully warning him of the impending rush.
Just in the nick of time, George stepped aside as Zel's urgent shout rang out, signaling the boys' mad dash indoors. With practiced agility, George sidestepped out of harm's way as the boys breezed past, their excitement palpable. Rushing upstairs for a quick shower, the boys prepared for dinner, their youthful energy undiminished by the day's adventures.
Section 2: Evening Serenade
Location – Kiria’s Home
Time – Evening
Scene One: Kiria’s Harmony
In the hushed sanctuary of their home, Kiria and her grandfather, Grandpa Ban, share a bond woven with threads of loss and resilience. Ever since tragedy struck in the form of a plane crash, claiming Kiria's parents when she was a tender three-year-old, her steadfast anchor has been her grandfather.
As twilight tiptoes in, Kiria orchestrates a symphony in the kitchen, her choreographed movements painting a picture of grace as she prepares the table for dinner. Adorned with headphones, she becomes one with the melodies of her favorite tunes, her soul finding refuge in the music's embrace.
Outdoors, sheltered beneath a humble shed, Grandpa Ban tends to his cherished birds, their ethereal forms flitting about in the rain. Despite the deluge, he finds solace in their company, the gentle rhythm of raindrops serenading his thoughts.
"Grandpa, dinner is ready," Kiria's voice cuts through the tranquil evening air, drawing Ban's attention.
"I'll join you shortly, my dear," he assures her with a tender smile, his voice a soothing balm against the backdrop of nature's symphony.
With practiced hands, Grandpa Ban cares for his feathered companions, his movements infused with a quiet reverence. Joining Kiria at the table, memories of happier times flood his mind, the scent of the meal evoking poignant recollections of shared moments with his beloved late wife.
"You know, your grandma used to make this dish on our anniversary," Ban reminisces, his voice a blend of sorrow and nostalgia. "We'd sit under the stars, serenaded by soft melodies, lost in each other's company." Kiria nods, her heartstrings resonating with her grandfather's sentiments.
Sensing Ban's wistfulness, Kiria resolves to brighten his spirits. With a selection of uplifting tunes, she transforms the room into a haven of shared joy and solace, weaving melodies that dance between them.
As they dine, stories flow freely, Ban painting vivid portraits of his past while Kiria listens with unwavering attention. At the mention of a walk, Ban's eyes sparkle with anticipation, his love for the outdoors evident in his eager demeanor.
Their evening unfolds with a gentle grace, the rain eventually yielding to Kiria's diligent hands as she clears the table. With purposeful strides, Ban prepares for his nightly pilgrimage, his footsteps a testament to the strength and resilience that lie beneath his gentle facade.
Yet behind the guise of a loving grandfather beats the heart of a formidable master. Ban is a maestro of martial arts, his decades of dedication honing his skills to extraordinary heights. With humility as his cloak and mystery as his shadow, he embarks on his nocturnal journey, his past shrouded in enigma and his future ripe with possibility.

Section 3: The Family Dinner
Location – Vanguard's Family House: Dinning Table
Time – Evening
Scene One: A lesson to be learned
Back at the Vanguard family house, we witness them preparing for their last meal of the day. George holds Amanda in his arms while the other four kids sit across from each other at the table, with two to George's left and two to his right.
Ella strolls in from the kitchen, carrying Amanda’s meal. She carefully places Amanda’s food across from George, designating her spot, and then heads over to retrieve Amanda. With a warm smile, she extends her arms towards Amanda, saying, “Come here, cupcake.” Amanda, noticing, clings tightly to George with a hug, shaking her head in playful denial.
With a cheerful tone, Ella remarks ““Well, honey, you’ll be feeding her this time around.” As Ella walks towards her spot, Amanda, with tiny fingers barely big enough to wrap around the handle, eagerly tries to grab George’s spoon from the table, creating a heartwarming sight. George then leans forward a little, enabling her to reach for the spoon.
While all this unfolds, Zel, Azriel, Thorne, and Lariel are engaged in a spirited debate with Lariel about him not wanting to share his turkey. “What is going on here,” asks Ella, as she passes Amanda’s food to George. Zel responds, “We had an agreement that the last one to get into the house would have to share their turkey, Lariel lost the bet and now doesn’t want to share his turkey.”
“Is that so, Lariel?” George asks.
“Yes, Dad,” Lariel replies.
“You can’t get into an agreement with someone and then fail to honor your side of the deal, especially for no good reason. That is not a clever way to behave,” George remarks. He then continues with a follow-up question, “Whose idea was this?”
Zel, Azriel, and Thorne immediately point their fingers towards Lariel, as if they were all waiting for that question to be asked. “I see,” George remarks. He then instructs Lariel to split his turkey into four parts and share it amongst his brothers, keeping one piece for himself. “This applies to you all. Never enter into any deal and fail to honor your side of the agreement. There will always be consequences for that,” George emphasizes. All the boys reply, “Yes, Dad.”
“I have a question, Dad,” says Zel.
“Okay,” George responds, with a tone signaling readiness and openness to entertain any inquiry that might be on Zel's mind.
“What should we do if the other party doesn’t meet their end of the deal?” Zel asks.
George pauses for a moment and replies, “Unless your side of the deal is dependent on the other party fulfilling theirs, always keep to your word. And if the second party does not meet their side of the deal and has no good explanation for why they could not, never enter into an agreement with them again.”
“Understood?” said George
“Yes, Dad.” The four boys replied
After this, George invites the family to join him in prayer, and they gather around the table, hands intertwined in a comforting embrace. As they bow their heads, a soft warmth envelopes the room, suffused with the gentle glow of the table lamp casting dancing shadows on the walls. Amanda, ever observant, mirrors their actions in her endearing way, her tiny hands coming together in a sweet, innocent gesture, her eyes closing in a baby-like stance.
In the depths of Grandpa Ban's past lies a tapestry woven with sorrow and resilience. A tragic chapter unfolded when he lost his wife and children, leaving Kiria as the sole survivor of his once vibrant family.
