Detailed Report. Team UNO Report 12 Of 12. Day 12. Medical Help.

Doctor Webber: "Fetch me a tub of the gel solution from HQ, and assemble a team to extract these hair fibres carefully and expeditiously before they establish roots. I need three of you to help me with the root removals, and the rest of you go and handle the sick and the members that came back from the hunting expedition to the north and west.

Leah, you're a knowledgeable helper skilled in herbs, so I'll need you. Jerek, you are strong as an Ox but steady as the iron element, and you are good for the manual task at hand. Stata, I've seen you helping out during the first cases after taking the large gel plant to HQ. You're quick and observant while adept at reading vital signs.

Doctor Webber: Put him on the table, and let's get this over with. Right now, the roots are active; if they stay within the body unattached from the plant body for more than 2 hours, they will get too deep and start growing into the nervous system. We don't have much time. The roots are already starting to dig in. Leah, prepare the herbal poultice to soften the skin. Jarek, keep him steady. Stata, watch his vitals closely.

Leah: (mixing herbs) "The gel plant's roots are relentless. If they reach the nervous system, we could lose him."

Jarek: (holding Ben firmly) "He's starting to shake. How do we extract the roots without breaking them further?"

Dr Webber: "Carefully. We'll need to coax them out whole. If they snap, they'll burrow deeper, and we won't be able to stop them."

Stata: (checking Ben's pulse) "His pulse is weak, but steady. We need to act quickly before his body goes into shock."

Leah: (applying the poultice) "This will soften the skin. It's made from a blend of Willow Bark, which helps numb the pain slightly, and Marigold petals, which promote healing. It's not as effective as a true painkiller, but it's the best we have. Dr Webber, do we have enough extraction solution?"

Dr Webber: "We do, but it's potent. We must use it sparingly. The extraction solution is made from the sap of the Starlight Tree, mixed with crushed leaves of the Moon-shadow plant. The sap is a natural anti-inflammatory, which helps reduce swelling around the roots. The Moon-shadow leaves contain compounds that weaken the roots' grip, making them easier to extract. Jarek, pass me the hollow reed."

Jarek: (handing over the reed) "Here. This will help guide the roots out, right?"

Dr Webber: "Yes. We'll create a suction with the reed to gently pull the roots. Stata, keep an eye on his breathing."

Stata: "What should we look out for as complications during this procedure? His breathing is shallow but consistent. Be careful, Dr Webber."

Dr Webber: (inserting the reed) "Slow and steady. If we rush, we could sever the roots. The main complication is if the roots break and burrow deeper, especially into the nervous system. If that happens, it could cause paralysis or severe pain. Also, there's a risk of infection from the open wounds. That's why it's crucial to keep everything as clean as possible and apply the salve immediately. Leah, ready the extraction solution again."

Leah: (holding a bowl of liquid) "It's ready. The salve contains Goldenrod and Honey. Goldenrod helps fight infection, and honey is a natural antibacterial agent. It's not perfect, but it significantly reduces the risk of infection. Dr Webber, I'll apply it as you pull them out."

Dr Webber: "Good. Jarek, steady his torso. We can't afford any sudden movements."

Jarek: (firmly holding Ben) "I've got him. Do what you need to do."

Dr Webber: (gently pulling the reed) "Easy now... I can feel the roots coming loose. Leah, apply the solution."

Leah: (carefully pouring the liquid) "It's seeping in. The roots are retracting. But his skin is wrinkling easily. Is that normal?"

Stata: "His pulse is spiking. He's in pain, but he's holding on."

Dr Webber: "Almost there... Jarek, be ready to hold him down if he jerks."

Jarek: "Ready."

Dr Webber: (extracting the roots) "Got it. The first root is out. Leah, treat the wound quickly."

Leah: (applying a salve) "Done. Two more to go."

Stata: "His vitals are stabilizing slightly. Keep going."

Dr Webber: "We'll repeat the process. Slow and steady. We can't afford any mistakes."

Jarek: "Ben's tough. He'll make it."

Dr Webber: "I hope so. Let's save him, Team."

For an hour, the medical Team worked tirelessly, tending to the injuries and wounds, paying particular attention to Ben's dire condition.

Dr Webber: (extracting the second root) "One more to go. Remember, our knowledge and skills are what keep us alive in this world. We may not have advanced technology, but we have our teamwork and our understanding of human and some of natures secrets."

Dr Webber: "Good. Last root now. Everyone ready?"

Leah, Jarek, and Stata: "Ready."

Dr Webber: "Here we go..."

The Team continues the delicate procedure, working together seamlessly. Each root extracted brings a sigh of relief, but the tension remains high until the last root is safely out.

Dr Webber: "The final root is out. Leah, finish treating the wounds. Jarek, you can ease up now. Stata, keep monitoring his vitals.

Leah: (applying the final salve) "Done. The wounds are clean."

Jarek: (relaxing his hold) "He's still. Let's hope he recovers."

Stata: "His pulse is steady. He's out of immediate danger. But Doc, Why is his body like this? His skin texture is weird. It's thin and looks like it was at some point translucent, and the reddish, purplish and whitish lines on his skin are as if the skin stretched and then shrunk rapidly. The guy in the other room also had the same weird-looking skin. Is it related somehow?"

Dr Webber: I see. That is weird but interesting. Increased metabolic activity, some areas like the foot seemed to have been affected by reduced blood flow of some kind. This must have been an effect of something in the forest. Go and find the other guy who came in with this person; maybe he also has muscle atrophy and excessive wrinkling skin. Be sure to bring the report of their checkup.

A few moments later, Mr Major and Timmon entered the room. Push in by two men as they sat in a tub of a light blue gel.

Dr Webber: I'm sure there will be someone sent by the council stopping by soon to request that you guys come with them to give your report and reason for breaking the rules so they can issue the punishment. So I don't need details or a story of why and blah blah. I'm a medical physician, and I'm just curious as to what happened to your bodies out there. How long have you been out there? Please do try to make it snappy.

Mr Major quickly gave the Doctor a quick rundown, sharing the order in which his body had to deal with changes and stress. The Doctor was blown away at the existence of a natural regenerative stimulant that forces the body to repair itself by pulling the resources from the body in such a balanced way it reduces the possibility of the body failing. The primary resource is fat, and the heat buildup in the body followed by the rapid burst of energy and strength makes it understandable why the body was in pain, the nervous system which led to a blackout as an understanding side effect. Fixing broken bones and filling gaps of missing flesh to heal instantly felt like a cheat, and the only known side effect was that you lose muscle and fat, maybe some bone density. With no negative impact on the internal system. Dr Webber needed to have that medical masterpiece. He needed more information, but for that, he needed to talk to Ben, who was currently sleeping.

Mr Major and Timmon sat naked in the tub of gel as the Doctor and his staff talked and theorized about the potential and the application of the seed powder. They were really hoping that the craftsmen could find a faster way to craft that lens he requested. Realistically, it might take months before he would be able to get them, but if God was good, maybe he would get them sooner.

Dr Webber: I want to show you guys something.

I know there's a lot that you guys don't know outside of the knowledge you collected while out there in the forest. The reports to the people currently say there are no deaths as of yet, but that's not accurate. There are people here who have died or are dying and others who have suffered from mental problems, some more serious than others.

In the settlement's infirmary, Timmon and Mr Major lie in large wooden tubs filled with a medicinal gel designed to aid their recovery. The dim light of the room casts a soft glow on their faces as they listen intently to Dr Webber.

Dr Webber: (standing between the two tubs, his voice calm yet serious.) A few of the people here have been getting sick with something. It's alien, but we will figure it out once the tools, technology and knowledge gap increases; it's only a matter of time before we can figure it out. However, Manz had an interesting conversation with a man named Ayforce, a weird-ass mystical monk on the council. We exchanged ideas and theories during our little talk when he came to see a few other the sick, but even though I didn't fully agree, he believes there is a deeper, spiritual aspect to the current world we've been brought to, but that shit ain't science. However, most of what he said stuck with me.

I know I've said this before, Timmon, Mr Major, and I know this must be overwhelming for you. You've been through a lot in the forest, and our settlement has changed while you were gone. I need to explain what happened to the expedition team and the strange ailments they brought back.

Timmon: "We've heard whispers about the sick people in this place condition while you were operating on Ben. What exactly happened to them, Doctor?"

Dr Webber: (nodding) "When the expedition groups returned, they were suffering from blackout episodes, seemingly self inflicted broken bones, audio hallucinations, emotional instability, and severe short-term memory loss. At first, these symptoms seemed purely physical and mental, but there was something more...something I couldn't quite grasp."

Mr Major: (frowning) "That sounds like more than just physical and mental trauma. What did you find out?"

Dr Webber: "I spoke with Ayforce, a mystical monk known for his understanding of the feel of natural and spiritual world. He explained that the lands the groups ventured feel ancient like an old tree and guarded by powerful energies. He wasn't sure why but his feeling was telling him to travel to the north and east for answers. but he said since feeling them he hadn't felt them again. He thinks that these energies can affect the human spirit in profound ways and from the report given by one of the generals about her encounter with God he's even more dramatic with his beliefs and theories."

Timmon: "Hold up! Energies? Like...magic? If this is a Game or a simulation I owe Ben an apology and a dick suck because ain't no fucking way there is magic in this world and I haven't learned it yet!"

Dr Webber: (smiling gently) "In a way, yes. Ayforce believes that the symptoms we're seeing are a direct result of the group's exposure to these untamed forces. The blackout episodes and broken bones might be the body's attempt to resist these energies, leading to sudden collapses and injuries."

Mr Major: "And the hallucinations? The memory loss?"

Dr Webber: "Ayforce explained that the hallucinations and emotional instability are signs of the spirits of the land communicating with the Team in ways our minds can't fully comprehend. That part I don't believe, but until I can prove it wrong and he can prove its right, then its just the first of many theories in the new human histories. The short-term memory loss is the mind's defence mechanism, erasing memories to protect itself from the overwhelming influx of mystical information, and thats just a fancy way of saying shit you can't yet understand or process."

Timmon: (thoughtfully) "So, their minds were trying to protect them from something they couldn't understand? That makes sense. People suppress trauma all the time so I can understand that take at most."

Dr Webber: "Exactly. Their bodies and minds were in a state of constant conflict, trying to adapt to these powerful mental strains, leave that concept to the mystical believer and he'll tell you it was ancient energies. Ayforce believes that to truly heal them, we must first cleanse their spirits."

Mr Major: "Cleanse their spirits? How do we do that?"

Dr Webber: "Ayforce suggests a ritual of purification using sacred herbs and chants to realign their energies. Once their spirits are cleansed, we can use our traditional methods to heal their physical wounds. This approach respects both the medical and mystical aspects of their ailments. But I think all they need is a good talk with a therapist who knows hypnotism at most, and their mental problems probably would go away. Also, it's not like these people can't function in their day to day. They just have random episodes that make the others uncomfortable. Potential dangerous wild cards, I guess."

Timmon: "That's a lot to take in. We've been so isolated in the forest, it's hard to imagine these kinds of discoveries and developments."

Mr Major: "But it sounds like this Ayforce dude has a deep theory of what we're dealing with, and it probably won't cause any harm if he tried his methods of the sick and dying."

Dr Webber: (nodding) "He does. His wisdom is invaluable in situations like this. By combining his knowledge of the mind and herbs with our medical practices, we have a better chance of helping the Team recover fully. But this planet is unbelievable. We got the consent from a few of the sick who had medical backgrounds to run tests on them; it gets bad, but what we have learned in just a day has saved a few people so far with positioning due to weak gut biomes, cleansing fluid and pain reduction applications all that good stuff, but there is this gas, I won't tell you about it just yet, but once you get in contact with it your body and respiratory system instantly slows as if you're going to sleep and a finds of sleep paralysis sets in and then the strangest thing happens the skin starts to become stiff and tough and slowly but surely its begins to turn...."

Before Dr Webber could finish, a man pushed in the door, demanding that the violators be released into his care.

The shirtless muscular man was adorned with a large crow tattoo, which took up the span of his back. And on his head was a small back bird comfortably sitting without a care in the world.

"Little frames, little dicks? Who are these weaklings? And where's the third one? I heard three men came out of the woods, and there wasn't any record of a team of fifty going outside or getting permission," the man said.

Dr Webber, trying to remain calm, replied, "How many times do I have to tell you muscle-brained Crow people that you don't have any sway or power in this zone? You need to leave, Magnus. You are not welcome here.”

Magnus responded with a menacing tone, "Joe didn't send me. The Trinity did. So find me the three bodies that I'm due and get out of my face, or Harry might be the next head doctor in Everwood—without my fist in his face."

Dr Webber started, “Why are you so certain that they are…"

But before he could finish, Magnus cut him off, stepping closer to the doctor. "Don't. Play. These. Stupid. Games. With. Me. They have stupid prizes. The entire settlement is talking about them, and we all know where they went and why. This is the last time I'll ask.”

The atmosphere in the room grew tense. Mr Major and Timmon were now crouching in the tub of gel, ready to fight, and so were the others in the room. The Doctor's helper and even the sick were glaring daggers at this Magnus guy, whose challenging gaze dared anyone to make a move. He wanted us to come at him, but if they did, could he really take them all on in combat? Why was he so confident? Was he that strong? A collective series of thoughts circulated in the room.

Dr Webber, attempting to defuse the situation, said, You can have the men you came for. But only after they have cleared the isolated quarantine and recovered a bit. Look where they are right now; look where you are. Among the sick and dying? Would you want to take something, if anything, back to the trinity? If your plan is to kill and take their position, it will fail. Let me do my job as a practised Doctor. I'm not trying to start any problems, especially if it could cause injuries or loss of lives.

Wait outside if you want, but I'm not letting them walk out of here without rest and observation and that's going to take a full rotation.

Magnus: A full day? Are you mad?

Dr Webber maintained his firm stance, "If you take these two and the other lying unconscious in the other room, you are basically killing yourself. It's the same if you come at me or any of the medical staff. You'd have to live the rest of your existence without acquiring any injuries or illnesses that would require a medical practitioner's help. Are you prepared to throw away your lifeline in this primitive era?"

Magnus paused, then conceded, "Fine. I'll give you your time, but you will have to deal with the repercussions later, especially with your General."

After what felt like an eternity of convalescence and observation, Dr Webber finally deemed the men fit to leave. Just as Team Uno prepared to exit the medical research building, Magnus reappeared, his presence rekindling the tension. Looking at their stoney faces after they have rested he could tell that they had seen somethings, and maybe they would making far in the program but it was to soon to tell.

The urgency of the situation added another layer of anxiety. As they traversed the path to the General's command centre, Magnus, acting as their guide, took them on a scenic route through the bustling settlement. His aura resonated with the surrounding military personnel, who stood around with spears and what looked like swords. As they saluted Magnus, their discipline was evident despite the noticeable heat of the day. However, Magnus carried an undercurrent of violence, mirrored by the military men as he approached.

The presence of armed guards scattered throughout the vicinity was a clear indication of the settlement's security measures. Team Uno, however, couldn't discern if the hostility they felt was directed at Magnus or themselves.

Ben: Clearly, I missed out on a lot. Who is this gay guy, and where are we going?

Magnus: Just like that? No introduction? And who are you calling gay? Not that it matters, but who are you?

Ben: Game recognizes game, but in your case, gay recognizes gay Mr Magnum.

Mr Major: Enough. Just tell us why we weren't going to see councils, generals and the trinity, which I'm guessing rules the settlement.

Magnus: I like you. Something about you I fuck with. Straight to the point. I've heard that you guys were in the forest before the rule was made, and many people are convinced of your Team Uno.

Mr Major: Get to the point.

Magnus: I'm coming, big guy. If what I'm hearing is true, you guys are gonna be punished for breaking a rule that you didn't know existed because it was put in place after you left. But if you are not on that Team, time will tell.

Ben: I knew he was gay.

As they continued their walk, Timmon broke the silence. "So, are you the strongest person around here? They send you to capture and retrieve us, so that speaks volumes. Do you think we're that weak?"

Without looking back at the three men, Magnus replied, "Yes. You guys do look weak. I can tell you've seen somethings in the forest, but none of you are stronger than my team. Well, one of you feels promising, but in this settlement of Everwood, you guys aren't even in the top sixty. And as strong as I am, there are many here who specialize in the art of combat and violence. It's actually pretty exciting and scary, especially that fucking woman."
