One moment she was walking back home across the road, the next she appears in a large open space with green grass and several trees all around.
It wasn't her fault.
Okay, maybe it has to do with the fact that she tripped over a root that came out of nowhere and then literally fell through a weird magic portal. But it still wasn't her fault.
What she has been asking herself is: Where is she anyway?
It was afternoon, the sun was setting. Her fair skin got a little dirty from the fall.
It wouldn't have been so weird if it weren't for the fact that there were sounds of clashing swords and a battle between what appeared to be soldiers in silver armor, and eight-foot creatures with gray or dark skin, similar to humans but these had Incredibly bright eyes and apparently when they opened their mouths, you could see sharp teeth and growling sounds.
Luna didn't specialize in creatures, but she was pretty sure they looked a lot like Orcs. However, these had much softer features.
She got to her feet and looked around in immense confusion. Was she dreaming or having a nightmare? Because that place was definitely not the back woods of her home in Brazil.
Then one of those creatures, one of the orcs, saw her and Luna froze. He was tall and muscular, wearing leather and silver armor, shoulder pads and dark iron gloves. Gray skin and bright yellow eyes, dark hair shaved. The creature frowned for a moment before starting to run towards him with an ax and screaming.
Luna's eyes widened and she took steps backward, ending up stumbling and throwing up her hands in a futile act of protecting her from the Ax that came down to hit her.
Then the strangest thing happened.
Her hands glowed pure white and the Ax, along with the creature, was hurled several feet away. But that wasn't the only extraordinary thing.
When Luna looked at the creature that had fallen to the ground a few feet away, she was surprised to find it charred. Luna almost gasped in surprise and looked down at her hands in shock. Did she do it?
She swallowed and looked around. The battle continued to unfold further on and more of those things were sensing her presence as well as human soldiers.
But then, the ground in front of her began to shake and huge roots appeared, which began to attack and throw the Orcs away. Many were crushed or dismembered, some were horribly punctured and blood gushed in many sides. Quickly, there was blood and limbs scattered all around. Some orcs fled into the forest while human soldiers screamed in Victoria.
Luna couldn't help but shiver as she watched the carnage of battle. Luckily she has a strong stomach, but it was still pretty awful the scene later on.
Soon, the soldiers turned to look at Luna, or rather, behind Luna. She heard footsteps and looked back.
Next to her, a little further back, was a teenager with long brown hair that reached to his chin, hazel eyes, and tanned skin. Leather armor over his lean, slender body. A green sleeved shirt that reached to his wrists and matching pants. He is handsome. Luna has to admit, though she doesn't really care about appearances.
The soldiers in front slap a fist on their chests and bow their heads a little.
Everyone said:_guardiao!_
Luna frowned at the soldiers and looked back at the boy, who smiled shyly at the soldiers and then raised his hands. soldiers with bigger armor and older looking approach.
Is it Luna's impression or does this boy have a French accent? Sounds like a French accent. Not that she's an expert on accents, but she's watched a few movies with French characters.
_ We appreciate your help, Guardian, it's an honor._
_Don't worry about it, Captain Ferrys. I'm happy to be able to help._ The boy said and the older man nodded, turning to his soldiers.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
_ Heads up! Prepare tents, let's camp here. Others, pick up the wounded and help them. We have to get to Hellrir after the morning._ The man went to the others and everyone started to move quickly, some still looking towards the boy and her. She was surprised no one had asked about her, not that she liked attention, but she literally sprang up next to a battle and they didn't even question how or why she was there.
She frowned and looked at the boy._ Oh, is someone going to tell me what's going on?_
The boy blinked and looked at her._ Oh, yes, sorry. My name is Petrus, I'm your ride to the big castle. _ He smiled as he reached out for a squeeze.
Luna, still confused, greets him._ Luna ...But, oh it was bad, I don't think I understand what you mean. It makes no sense. where am I? Why am I here? Is this real or am I dreaming?_ This last part was more for herself.
He pinched her arm and Luna jumped.
She shot him an annoyed look as she rubbed her arm. Because you-_
_ Ready, you are not dreaming. But if you want a more real proof, feel free to hit your head in a tree._ He smiled innocently and Luna narrowed her eyes.
_ Wow, thanks, but I think the pinch should be enough for now._ He replied, looking around. _ Are you going to explain to me what is happening or not? Because telling me you're here to take me to a castle doesn't explain why or how I'm here, let alone whether it's real or not.
_ Oh believe me, it's very real, and it will only get worse while I tell you everything._ He raised an arm._ Please, accompany me._
Luna took a step back._ I don't think so. How about you explain here and now instead of me having to accompany a complete stranger to I don't know where?” She crossed her arms and looked over with a raised eyebrow.
An amused smile came over Petrus._ I can see why you were summoned as our leader._
_ What? ?_ Luna frowned.
_ You undoubtedly have more brains than Max, but don't say I said that ok? _ Was he playing with her?
She blinked._ Hmm… Look, cute. How about stop talking about things I don't understand and explain things to me from the beginning, huh?_
///
Luna pouted._ So… the battle I witnessed is kind of just one of the ones that are brewing because an Orc King named Darius Wants more rights and land for the Orcs, while the soldiers who serve the King of this Kingdom -_
_ King Mathias, he is old but he has two heirs. _
_ And this king doesn't want to give in because the Kingdom is having some economic problems, which I'm still trying to understand. And apparently there are orcs and other magical creatures._
_ Several races and kingdoms, there are even Wendigos, but this type of creature lives in the forbidden forest._
_right, and there are 11 guardians, people with powers to control the elements and a few more things, summoned from the earth or this world itself, and you're telling me that I, little one here, is number 12 and your leader?_
_ Exactly._ Petrus smiled.
_ Wow, I think I need to sit down._ She said with wide eyes and sat down on the grass.
_ I know, it's a lot to digest._
She waved her hands in the air._Oh Don't tell me. I mean, it's not as if I felt a headache coming just with this simple explanation, which is nothing simple. But, okay, let me catch my breath and we can go on._
_ Will you just accept? So, simple?_
Luna shrugged. _ Well, from what you told me, I can't leave here unless I die and I'm not suicidal. There's not much I can do but accept it, right? _
_ You could deny._
Luna looked at him with a proper eyebrow._ Really? But it would have consequences, wouldn't it? Regardless, I couldn't even leave this world if I wanted to, right?_
_ Eh…Yes, and if you refused to lead us, there would be complications in several ways. You have been called up as a Leader, so if you were to deny your post, some of us might want to take that post and that could cause problems between us. We have to stay united and strong after all. We need a leader to lead us right and make the decisions, and you were chosen as such. No one has the right to replace her but they can try. We have a duty to protect and maintain balance in El-lar, especially our duty is to protect the innocent. You are literally responsible for making all the decisions and dealing with political matters between the guardians and the realms, and there are many realms and conflicts that demand our attention.
She laughed in a way that was not amusing._ No pressure then._
Petrus looked a little sorry for having thrown that bomb on her and he softened his gaze._ Sorry, I know it's a lot. _
_ It's okay, I was chosen as the leader, wasn't it? _ She shrugs._ I think it makes a little sense, but I don't know if I trust myself enough with such responsibility, but that's ok. Take me to the castle, let's catch up, and hopefully maybe I can take a little nap.
_ If it's worth anything, I had a panic attack when they explained all this to me too._
Luna frowned._ Yeah, that's not helping._ She tried very hard not to think about the thought of her heart racing and having a panic attack.
_ Sorry! Come, I'll take you right before you freak out. _ He approaches her.
_ Please be quick, the help conversation didn't work out a bit right._ She asked.
_ Okay… There are many other things to explain, but that can wait a while. Give me your hand, please._ He holds his hand out to her and Luna is reluctant for a moment, but sighs and puts her hand in his, standing up.
_ Now what? _ She asks, looking at him.
Petrus smiled._ Now, you have to trust me._ and they were literally swallowed up by giant roots.
Luna just screamed a little in fright.
