In a unknown time and in a unknown place. There was a boy born into the darkness with no knowledge of light. He had never felt the warmth of another. He knew no words and had few thoughts. The boy knew not of clothes and the only thing he kept was a rock as big as both hands that he hunted the beasts with. The beasts were creatures to be feared, but the boy did not fear them. For they feared the boy. He had the strength of an elephant, and the heart of a lion. His senses were as good as any beast there was, if not better. Though he could not see much with his eyes. He saw through sound and smell. His smell was so good he could even make out colors, and his hearing along with other things allowed him to see shapes and know his surroundings. He lived a life that none of us could bare. One day when the boy was hunting he heard a sound. It was the sound of a beast’s pup crying. He went to find the beast, and when he found it. What he saw was a small beast by its mother’s corpse. It was covered in guck. The beast had died giving birth to the small creature. This was strange for it was a strong beast, and should not have died from something like that. The boy walked over and picked the small thing up. The creatures shape resembled a baby wolf, but it was far different from a wolf. For its skin was a hard shell, and its ears could not be seen. The boy felt a strange urge for the first time. He wanted to help the pitiful creature. He decided he would take care of the pup. The boy set the pup down and went to look for food. He found a snake that looked like a python, but it was quiet different. For it was much bigger and had sharp teeth that were not afraid to bite. The boy knew that the creature would rip off a leg if he gave it the chance. But the boy gave it no chance. For when the creature went to rip off the boys leg. Faster than most people could see. The boy evaded and hit it as hard as he could in its head, just as he had always done. Its skull was instantly crushed. The boy hit it once more, just to be safe. He had been wounded before, by not making sure a beast was dead. He grabbed the snake and dragged it back to the pup. When he got back the pup was still next to its mother waiting for it to get up and move. The pup wanted her to feed him not the boy. The boy did not know his mother or even if he had one. But he never gave it any thought until today. When he first saw the pup with its mother. He wondered how he came to be. He could not remember so he pushed the thought away. The pup got excited when he saw the snake. The pup walked over and sniffed the kill. This was going to be its first real meal. The pup was not weak like are babies are today. It was able to eat the snake with little difficulty. The boy dug in as well. But for some reason he wanted to watch the pup eat. This was strange for the boy loved to eat. It was one of the few things he truly enjoyed. But the boy ate very little. It still would be a lot to the average person. But to the boy it was nothing. Once the pup had its full he looked at the boy wondering if he had just made a friend. The boy had never had a friend before. But that is to be suspected sense he was born alone. It did not take long for the two to grow extremely close. The beast followed the boy everywhere and the boy followed the beast. In three months the beast was two times the size of a wolf. In five months he was more like a tiger and in a year he was twice the size of that. He was no longer a pup. Now he was a great beast that could hunt on his own if need be. The boy had not been able to carry the beast for a while now. Now it was the beast who carried the boy. It had been years since the two had first met now. When one day the boy woke to a sound he had never heard before. It was a scream that could be heard from miles around. For a reason the boy could not explain he jumped up and ran to the noise as fast as he had ever ran before. When he got there he knew it was something like him. The boy had never met a creature like it before. He had only ever known the beasts. The boy ran past the creature and with his rock lunged at the beast that was chasing it. The beast was unlike any that he had faced. It had giant wings that were over 12 feet long. Its skin was a hard shell just like his friend and it had a head like a gaiter. It had a tail longer than any the he had seen in months. The boy hit the beast in the chest with his rock. The affect was almost nothing. The beast threw the boy against a wall with its long and deadly tail. The beast stared at the boy and made a sound that would make even the brave cower in fear. But like always the boy did not fear it. The boy was mad. No he was furious and the boy had never been this way before. Just as the two were about to clash. The boy’s friend the beast came running in before all was lost. He believed in the boy. But he had never seen him this way before. The winged beast felt a slight unease. He knew things had just become a bit difficult. As the boys friend leaped for the winged beast. The beast flew at the boy and the boy charged at the beast. The boy had lost his trusty rock that had never left his hand in battle. Just as the boys arm was about to be torn off by the beasts mighty jaw. His friend knocked the winged beast away with all the power he had in him. It was not that the boy could not react but that he knew his friend would save him. The boy jumped onto the winged beasts back as his friend bit into its tail. The boy dug into the beasts eyes to cause as much damage as he could. The beast made little sound of pain. For it to take all the boy and his friend had and the beast still have power in him was unthinkable. The boy had heard the one he was trying to save screaming at them. He did not know what they were saying. But he knew they were telling him to run. The boy did not want to run. For he had great instincts and knew they would perish if he did. With everything he had. He shoved his hand through the beasts head. The beast moved like a fish or a chicken with it’s a head cut off. He was dead but he did not know it. As it made desperate attempts to flee. The boy’s friend bit deep into it so it could not leave. After a short while the beast finally stopped moving. After the boy caught a little breath. He looked at the creature who he had just saved. The boy was amazed by it. It had long reddish brown hair and a scent that intoxicated him. But what amazed the boy the most was its eyes. Because its eyes were the first light the boy had ever seen. They glowed bright like stars. The boy could tell they let the creature see in the dark. It had a frightened shocked look on its face. As if it did not believe the fight was over. It spoke to the boy hysterically. The boy did not know what the creature was saying.
