I recognize the end of the last arc was unfulfilling to many readers, and I'm sorry for that.
Chapter 20 was originally going to be a chapter from Karena's POV covering her travel to Aurora and her thoughts on learning that Isa was one of the community members. The chapter made certain things about the character much more apparent - like the fact that she was a secret Priestess for Lady Grace and was more of a manipulator than an ambassador.
A lot had changed for Karena in the five years since her exile. When I wrote the last couple of chapters, it was with that vision of Karena in mind.
Clearly, my execution failed. *Cringe* Sorry.
Part of it was me wanting to push the story forward. I could have easily dedicated an entire series to this one life... but that isn't the vision I have for the story. I'll try to do better. Isa is still going to die, though. It can't be a serial reincarnation story covering multiple worlds without her dying.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
I plan to rewrite the Karena POV chapter and have it ready by next week. I also plan to touch up this last arc to make things flow a little better and fill a few plot holes. Hopefully, that will make the end of her first post-goddess life more palatable.
I basically share chapters as I write them for this story, and there are no advanced chapters or backlog available for me to work with to fix things like this before they become a problem. This is draft zero.
Also, Cheating Immortality is largely a side project that I do for fun and to get a break from writing/thinking about Primer for the Apocalypse. It is very much an example of 'pantsing' (writing without a real plan and just letting the story come as it may).
I will try to plan out the next life, though. We'll see how that changes the flow of the story together.
Thanks for sticking around :)
