ROMANCE
----------------------------------------
Alex, proud of her plot to get Chris to study for once, opens the door to her moderate home widely, leading Chris into the living room. Chris’s eyes go wide, and her mouth sits slightly open as she looks around in awe; Alex watches her with a feeling of accomplishment from leaving the odd girl awed.
Chris staying still only lasts for about a second before she begins bounding through the house, exploring and playing with everything she can get her hands on. ‘She is such a child,’ Alex thinks, a small smile playing on her lips. After a second of watching the childish teen run around her house, Alex decides to put a stop to it before something got damaged, so she soon finds herself chasing Chris down in an all out game of chase. It isn’t long before both girls are giggling and yelling threats through the house as they play. Alex, significantly less athletic than her wildfire guest, quickly and frequently finds herself out of breath. During one of her breaks, however, she loses sight of Chris. Worried as to what the hyper girl might do, or break, she begins to call out for her.
She searches the house slowly, looking around with caution, as she wouldn’t put it past Chris to prank her somehow. Just as she was finally starting the think the other girl had calmed down, and that she was safe from pranks, a pair of arms wrap around her torso and pulls her over the back of, and onto the couch. A squeal-ish scream escapes Alex’s lips as she falls onto the other girl, and then onto the floor in a tangle of body parts. After a few seconds of laying in a tangle the girls erupt into a fit of giggles, curses. They lay there, full of life and energy, goofy grins plastered to their faces. After many moments, and a vast amount of effort, Alex manages to tear herself away from the magnetic girl beside her, pushing the pinkette away playfully. The pink haired teen, all curves and giggles, allows herself to be pushed by the brunette, falling to the side with open arms and an air of perfect ease. Alex eyes her suspiciously, a frown on her face and a grin in her eyes before offering her hands to help the other girl up.
Chris accepts the help, her eyes shining. ‘She’s beautiful,’ Alex observes, not for the first time and Chris places her soft hands in Alex’s. When Alex pulls her up, however, Chris gives in a smidge too much, allowing herself to practically fall into Alex, almost tipping them back onto the ground. Chris quickly rights herself, a purposeful smirk dancing across her lips, and leaving her hands on Alex’s shoulder familiarly.

“Thanks Alex,” She whispers, enunciating each syllable, her voice light and airy. Alex just barely nods in acknowledgement, dumbstruck and blushing furiously. Chris watches the girl happily, not moving, and filled with glee at the beautiful brunette’s reaction. Chris’s eyes flash as an idea crosses her mind, her face flushing before she shakes it away, deciding instead to poke the brunettes nose. So she does, causing Alex to blink rapidly, her nose twitching. Chris blushes and turns away, embarrassed by how adorable her reaction was.
Alex tips her head to the side with curiosity, unsure what caused her friend’s sudden change in demeanor. She shrugs it off as just another oddity of the girl before her. Suddenly she remembers the whole reason Chris is here, studying. “You sneaky girl, distracting me!” Alex exclaims, her voice feigning anger. She crosses her arms as Chris turns back toward her, leaning to one side, a forced frown on her face.
“Whatever do you mean,” Chris asks, her voice playing innocent, her face holding a devious smirk. Alex raises an eyebrow, which Chris counters by batting her eyes and leaning towards Alex. Chris’s eyes wonder over Alex, and Alex flushes under Chris’s scrutiny. “You’re the distracting one.” She adds, Alex’s face rising to a cherry red.
“Let’s just start studying.” Alex mumbles, walking past Chris towards her room. Chris smiles and follows her with a bounce in her step. Alex sets her school bag on her bed as Chris looks around the room. She watches as her guest becomes accustomed to the environment.
Chris turns towards Alex, a sparkling smile across her face. “So,” She says, making her way to the bed with a bit too much hips, “What are we studying?” She asks, a million questions in one. Nerves assault Alex, leaving her with an awkwardly blank mind as Chris sits beside her and leans forward curiously.
Alex pulls books from her schoolbag, fumbling and clumsy, and places them between her body and the ‘too-comfortable getting all up in her space’ girl’s. She searches her mind for a subject, any subject, and finally chooses one. “H-how about english, we uh, have a test in a couple weeks.” She suggests, getting a grip on her emotions. ‘Jeez, could you sound any more foolish?’ Alex thinks, admonishing herself.
Chris nods happily, and pulls out the novel they’d been assigned to read. Alex notices that the book doesn’t even seem to have been opened. Alex pulls out her own copy, with a bookmark three-quarters of the way through. She eyes Chris’s book, raising an eyebrow at her neighbor. “What have you been doing all class? Have you even opened your book?” Alex asks, confusion lacing her sharp tone. Chris laughs and full blown, belly laugh, her eyes lit beautifully.
“I guess I have a lot of studying to do, huh?” She asks, some sort of knowledge twinkling in her eye that Alex could barely begin to guess. Chris opens the book, scooting closer to Alex so they could read together. They spend that afternoon reading, with Alex helping Chris to take notes. Chris, all too happy to point out her own viewpoints, continually finds ways to get closer and closer to Alex, as Alex trips up on more and more words.
The days pass, and Alex finds herself hosting more and more study sessions, each one taking a bit longer to get started, and a bit harder to keep on track.
