The glove on his hand sparked and cackled, and a slight blue glow was transferred from his body to his hand to the wire that connected it to a small bulb. And defying all logic, the bulb lit up.

The scientists were clamoring to understand what happened. The blue power Professor Sharma from India had discovered hinted at a completely unexplored domain of energy and unraveled the mysteries of Life and Soul into Quantifiable numbers. The law that stated that “Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed” had been marked redundant. The blue energy seemed to come from the soul and was in effect an inexhaustible, renewable, and completely clean source of energy. If proven right, it would mean the end of the energy crisis, and the beginning of a new era of eras.
3 months before the Descent
The world was abuzz as the old Professor made his Nobel Speech. It was a humble expression of gratitude to those who supported him and an appeal to the world to use the power he had discovered responsibly. Instead of copyrighting his discovery he published it online and delivered it to the whole world. He could have become rich, but instead, he chose to become great. “Knowledge is Power, and I want all of humanity to be empowered.”

1 month before the Descent
The internet was flooded with ideas, and all scientists showed different ways of harnessing the “Mana” energy. They had discovered an easy alternative of a ‘mana suit’ that could be made with steel and electronics. The governments tried to stop the rampant spread but it was like a genie out of the bottle. Mana had reached the Commons. There were reels of influencers showing cool effects with stupid background music floating about along with Utube tutorials for setting up your own Mana suit. It was officially called the “Sharman Suit” in honor of the scientist, but due to its similarities in behavior and abilities to the fantasy element of magic, Mana caught on and stuck.
15 days before the Descent
Amid the heated debates, about the changes due to mana, A rumor was gaining traction on the web. A year ago it would have been discarded without a second thought. But the events of the last few months had broadened the world’s horizons. It was a simple but exciting one. Those who started using Mana the earliest could now use minuscule amounts of it without the arrays and suits.
3 days before the Descent
A public demonstration by a group of Australian Scientists proved the theory of Adaptation, showing to millions on a live stream that the human body could utilize Mana on its own once trained to a certain extent by the Sharman Suits, although the Arrays and Runes still needed to be used for wider applications.
D-Day
As the world went about its day no different than any other a strange phenomenon occurred. Suddenly all the electronics stopped working and grandiose instrumental music started sounding. As the sound of drums and violins faded a mechanical but somehow cheerful voice sounded in the sky - Basic Mana Requirement met. Incubation Complete. Starting Baby Protocol.
