[Chained Abyss] Chapter 2: golden knight is a thing

Chapter 2 golden knight is a thing

Pirates were attacking the ship at the perfect time this way they could take out most of the crew and lose some of their own and when all's said and done Sans could take everything. Of course he wouldn’t normally think of doing something like this but the crew like their captain was likely to be very corrupt.

“Pirates arrrg. Let's see if they have booty haha I said booty.”

“I’m surprised that you didn’t suggest killing everyone first.”

Sans was actually marginally surprised that something other than the desire to kill came from this insane voice.

“I'm hurt what do you think of me, really I only suggest the most fun rout In our life.” Without thinking further into the thoughts of a crazed mind in his head Sans decided that the best thing to do was free the children and see what Mark knew on the fact that the ship had children as slaves. Luckily with the pirate warning and the fact that he now wasn’t trying to hide it only took him ten odd minutes to reach the bottom of the ship once more. There he saw a strange site of Mark trying to convince the children to somehow help him get free.

“C’mon kids help me find a way and I'll help you get out of here you see I know some good people that can help you get back home.”

The kids seemed to be relatively hostile but some would at least respond.

“Lier because of your ship mommy’s dead.”

“Yea and the other weird kid got free and promised us the same thing and he got out on his own.”

As he said that the kid pointed at a broken shackle.

“Okay point taken, he has more credibility but soon pirates are good to be coming and because they are good pirates that hurt the bad people we can figure out how to get you home.”

Sans got enough information from listening to the conversation and stept into the open where the children and Mark could see him.

“So the pirates are already here. I was thinking of either finishing this crew off or the pirate crew and taking a ship but are you sure you're with them?”

Mark was startled by Sans sudden interruption but quickly calmed down remembering how he had snuck up on him and moved his unconscious body to this area.

“So what happened to the captain?” Without answering his question Sans began to destroy the shackles holding the kids, in total there were around thirty of them.

“I asked first.”

Seeing that Sanas was either serious or really good at acting his part Mark gave up having his question answered first.

“Yes I'm with the pirates, you knowing about them means they're here. They are good people and only rob the targets we scouts designate depending on what they ship. I was going to pass this one but these children are here so we’re gonna take the ship. Plus because I’m not there to give the signal they might attack anyway.”

Sans was somewhat impressed that he would have an important role in this but still didn’t care much as long as he was able to arive in the Goddesses Continent.

“But then i have to answer your question. So he knew about the slaves threatened to kill me or have me killed then his throat was opened up and blood sprayed everywhere, that was the last time I saw him.”

Mark looked down to the floor.

“Then he’s dead… you know i was hoping he didn’t know about this and we could keep being friends, one of the downsides to being a scout and finding a good target, you make friends.”

Seeing the downed Mark Sans was going to cheer him up but stopped as it wasn’t something he knew how to do, so he decided to continue with the conversation.

“Then my turn, can these so called ‘good’ pirates really help these children get back to their homes?”

Sans had made a promise to show these kids a fun time and while it was something he could just ignore he had no reason to. And according to the insane voice in his head what could be more fun than being a pirate for a while.

“Yes join them then we’ll get a pet bird and a claw hand. Maybe even a peg leg.”

“Sans do not join a group of pirates, regardless of how noble they present themselves they are still pirates.”

Sans for the most part was inclined to listen to the insane voice in these situations because, in the end his goal as he had stated was fun.

“Well considering that this might be fun and if you’re captain can promise to take these kids back to their families or take them in i won’t go on a killing rampage.”

Seeing the perfectly serious Sans, Mark had a cold sweat dripping down his back. If he stowed away on any ship it was likely that even when they looked for him he could hide and take out multiple people. Without any effort Sans broke the chain that was holding Mark in place.

“Wow these things are horrible. Well let's go up and see if we can find the captain then bring these kids up when everything is safe. If you help out in subduing the crew things might go a lot faster. But try not to kill anyone as the captain doesn’t like massacres.”

Sans just nodded and looked back at the children.

“Okay I’ll make everything safe and then we’ll talk to the captain and if he doesn't agree we’ll take the ship and sail it ourselves it’ll be a sea adventure.”

Turning back to Mark Sans had a smile on his face.

“By the way I’m going to need a mount for when i reach land is there anything good around here? I’ll keep it and some other stuff and in return for less trouble from your captain I’ll help with subduing the crew.”

Mark readily agreed to this and told Sans that he could find a pen on the second floor  towards the middle, apparently it couldn’t be missed due to the smell. “We’re finally getting that pony she always wanted.”

“I had a horse and I don’t think taking things from these people is a good idea, we might be lumped together with the Pirates.”

Sans payed little attention and quickly found the pen. In truth the smell was bad and he had only missed it before due to the fact that he had gone another route.

“Then we’ll get the best horse and be on our way to help the pirates.”

“Sans you should not be helping criminals, it can’t go well.”

“We’re the biggest of criminals and at this point both sides are wrong then I take the one who can help those kids and let's them have fun.”

Without further discussion Sans began to look through the stables. There were more than just horses, there were also various kinds of livestock. But nothing caught his attention, but before he simply grabbed a horse Sans saw a large warning label and a completely closed off pen.

“That is a bad idea it’s closed off for a reason.”

Moving towards the closed off pen he held some anticipation as to what it could be.

“Maybe it’s a tiger or a lion or a wolf. Ahhh what if it’s a monster we would look awesome.”

Agreeing with the crazed voice Sans began breaking the various locks as he didn’t have the keys. When he opened the door he found something a little more shocking than all the things that the crazed voice had mentioned. In the pen was a sheep wolf with golden wool. Sheep wolves were monsters in the lowest category, they had the appearance of sheeps but their mouths could transform to that of a wolf. The only way to tell the difference was for one to attack you or in this case to growl.

“We… We… We have to ride that into battle on that creature.”

Sans agreed it would be fun and if this sheep wolf needed so many locks and warnings it couldn’t be weak. But his biggest factor for this was that a light of intelligence flashed in it’s eyes. This was something Sans had seen occasionally when hunting monsters on the demon continent. Some monsters would gain intelligence equal or greater to that of the average human.

“Little sheep I know you should more or less understand me. I came here to find a mount and you would be perfect, join me and we can rampage.”

The sheep had look rather menacing and ready to attack until it heard that they would rampage.

“Baaaaa.”

“Yes we will fight and win.”

“Baa.”

“Of course this is an equal partnership.”

“Baaaa.”

“I could even teach you how to become stronger.”

With a nod of it’s head the sheep let out a deep resounding.

“BAAAA!”

“Could you really understand what it was saying?”

“Of course… Not!”

Sans had no idea what the sheep could possibly be saying instead he was just going along and having fun with the situation. Most of the time he would be rather tense and unable to unwind but having left the demon continent were it wouldn’t be strange for everyone to try and kill him Sans let loose a little.

“Then you’ll need a name. Are you a boy or a girl? Should I check?”

It took some yes or no questions but Sans had determined that the sheep was female and already and intermediate warrior on top of having the ability to use some magic.

“Then I'll call you Flice.”

Without waiting any further Sans jumped on the back of the sheep and gave a loud yell.

“Charge to the deck!”

The two of them with charged to the deck along the way they had met both pirates and crew members from the cargo ship but all of them had been easily put down with one kick from Flice. Fighting was left mostly to her while he kept an eye open for a suitable weapon to use. Something long like a spear or a staff would be preferable in this case but all Sans could find were cutlasses and other swords.

“Flice Charge to the upper deck then we'll find someone important after playing around for a while.”

When they made it to the upper deck the odd pair began attacking people indiscriminately. Sans had at some point picked up a mop and began using it like some sort of spear. After only a couple of minutes together Flice and Sans had been able to understand one another. She would take care of anyone directly behind or infront of them with a swift kick while he would defend her and use the mop to attack those one either side of her.

Some of the one they knocked out could have stood a fair chance fighting the golden sheep wolf but the bizarre situation made surprised them and created a big enough opening for them to be knocked out. But because their attacks were indiscriminate one one group charged at them of paid them much attention. Seeing that they were being informed for the most part Flice sneered.

“Ah that’s got you annoyed too, then let's head to where the real fun is!”

The ship had more than several advanced ranked individuals and they were putting up a good fight against the pirates but with the combination of human wave tactics and several of their own advanced ranked pirates the ship's crew was at a disadvantage.

“Those let's take out those!”

Sans used his mop/spear to point at two seemingly evenly matched individuals fighting in a very serious way. Flice fueled by her previous annoyance and a desire for combat charged recklessly into the fray. The two who were reaching the climax of their battle had a mix of passion and respect in their eyes as they looked at one another.

They were both warriors who had fought many bitter battles in their line of work and this would be the last for one of them. However before they could say anything or continue they were tuned at what arrived before them a child riding a golden sheep while holding a mop.

“I am the great sheep riding knight Sans! Cower before me and fear my might for generations!”

With his odd declaration The sheep charged at the ship crew member, it remembered the uniform that he was wearing was similar to the ones worn by those that captured it. Previously it had not noticed because only the advanced ranks on the ship wore the uniform and up until now it had been dealing with small fries. Having recognized its enemy it would not simply ignore the man and continue fighting both sides.

“BAAAAA!”

With a cry filled with rage it charged.

“Hahaha this thing holds a grudge I think it just chose a side!”

“Sans as fun as this might be this is still not a wise choice, siding with criminals is wrong.”

Sans didn’t really care he simply had no reason to. With a joyous smile he allowed Flice to charge and held his mop horizontally as if to perform a sweep. The Advanced ranked crew member had not reached that level by luck or called himself that just for show. Despite the abruptness of the sheep knight’s entrance he held his sword in front of him with a determined look.

“Boy stop this and go under deck then we can see if the guard at whatever stop we reach will give you leniency wherever we stop.”

It was obvious that the crew man thought that the pirates would be caught but Sans didn’t really care as he had confidence in his strength.

“Fall before the sheep knight!”

With his battle cry he swept the mop in his hand but because it was not something meant for combat it was directly bisected in two by the crew man. Despite this Flice charged closer and made no alterations to her path, feeling her resolve Sans launched himself at a speed faster than the man could swing his sword.

With his fist Sans knocked the sword out of the man’s hand and Flice gave him a solid kick to the gut knocking him out. Seeing all this happen in such a short amount of time the advanced ranked pirate was in shock. Not minding him Sans spoke.

“The mighty sheep knight requires a new weapon… You bring me another mop!”

Pointing at a random pirate who had seen what just happened Sans smiled when he somehow or other brought him one.

“So why the mop?”

“I’m having fun with this, later I’ll get a spear or something.”

The other voice didn’t speak instead it just laughed and repeated the words sheep knight. Sans was indeed having fun with this as he had not been able to unwind in a while, because of that his personality had been more geared towards the kinder voice in his head. Although he did often kill but he didn’t do it simply because it was fun he always had some reason. But now that he could relax he was doing things simply to have some fun. While he was thinking this someone called out to him.

“So does the grand sheep knight have a name?”

Looking back Sans was shocked and mesmerized. The one who called out to him was a female pirate dressed fully in a captain's hat and long coat.

“Ah, I'm Sans. The great sheep knight.”

“We, we have to fall for her!”

“Sans no! You’r at most fourteen maybe fifteen this is a bad thing.”

Sans agreed with her this couldn’t be a good thing. Sans had never known love or carnal pleasures himself but he knew what they were and was more than exposed to them during his stay in the Demon Continent. By his, and most, standards of beauty the captain looking woman before him was almost perfect filling out in all the right places while standing at least six feet in height. The pirate woman laughed a little while looking at Sans.

“I’m the captain of the Liberation Pirates, Jessica. Then what's a knight like you doing here.”

Sans couldn’t help but break into laughter at Jessica who was playing along with his little knight play.

“Ahhh I haven’t had fun in a while. I’m sorry for that. Well I was kidnaped then I broke out because I had let myself get captured and while going on a little spy work I found Flice here and we went on a little rampage.”

Jessica kept her smile at Sans and let out a little chuckle.

“Then I'm going to assume that you’re from the demon continent and we're just trying to get out… It must have been hard for you.”

Sans didn’t answer for a bit while looking at what had become a sad face on Jessica, in truth it had been a hard life but nothing he couldn’t cope with by ignoring the fact that it happened or blaming it on circumstance.

“Well it’s not that hard and I'm not as young as I look, new year i’ll be fifteen and an adult.”

Seeing that Sans didn’t have any deep wounds left behind by the demon continent, at least nothing he couldn’t cope with himself Jessica resumed smiling.

“Still that's considerably young you're just as old as my youngest son.”

Sans was a little happy to be cared about but still just shook it off as a habit, he had learned not to let people in too close.

“Then I have to go back to doing knight things.”

With that he directed Flice to charge at the remaining crew members and began changing the deadlock that the battle had become. From the back Captain Jessica had a saddened face while looking at Sans smiling and laughing at his opponents bewildered faces.

“That boy, even if he is going to be fifteen, he’s still too young to be able to do what he’s doing… Well if he was in the demon continent he must have had a rough life.”

The captain had a soft spot for children and would attack any ship that carried slaves. At first she had attacked the ship to rescue Mark but hearing Sans speak of how he got onto the ship she knew that it carried child slaves. As a mother of a couple of children, with one being about ten years old she couldn’t stand to see children treated as things.

Even if they were children of other races. With no longer any reservation for attacking the cargo ship she ordered her best men to capture or kill any advanced ranked crew members along with any of the crew’s important members.

In a few moments the major obstacles stopping the pirates disappeared. while they were finishing up Sans decided that he would go inform the rest of the children and have them go with the pirates as they would be able to help them more than himself. While on the way Sans suddenly asked something.

“Do we know how to actually make Flice stronger”

The voices in his head didn’t reply right away and instead began to think, the first to speak was the crazed voice.

“We could teach it dragon magic, we couldn’t learn it because we suck at magic but this sheep is strongly good at it.”

“I agree dragon magic might work depending on the intelligence of the golden sheep wolf. You could also modify your technique to work for her body structure but that might take some time.”

Sans nodded, he was indeed no good at magic even now that he had become the [Chained Abyss] he would rely solely on his physical strength.

“Okay… Flice I'm going to teach you two things. First is dragon magic, because I'm no good with magic all I can give you is the theory and a rough explanation along with some spells. The second is a body strengthening technique but modified for a sheep wolf, although using it will hurt and stop you from doing much the first couple of days.”

Hearing this Flice nodded she didn’t care if a technique hurt and dragons were considered the kings of monsters so she couldn’t be happier to learn their techniques and spells.

“Good then from now on we travel together, as grand Knights, I'm going to need something other than being [Chained Abyss]. Oh but don’t tell anyone or teach this to anyone.”

“I don’t think it can. But letting it know is okay I guess. More importantly and what I should have asked first, how do you know Dragon magic?”

“Ah well a couple of the one who joined in with us knew dragon magic one was even half dragon.”

After this everyone stayed silent until they reached the location with the children. Upon seeing the “majesty” of Flice they were all excited beyond words and would cuddle up next to her in turns.

“Well everyone listen, I've met the captain so you should be safe and returned somewhere nice. You could even become the next group of good pirates. Now everyone follow Flice to the top!”

With Flice at the front and Sans taking up the rear the group advanced. Next to Sans was Mark.

“Ah you found her, well taking her and subduing her somehow I have to thank you otherwise getting her to transfer to our ship would be impossible.”

Sans agreed with this, if he didn’t have a good amount of experience with dealing with magical beast he would have also tried to subdue her with force.

“Haha it was nothing plus we’re partners, I didn’t subdue her. Anyway your captain seems nice and she’s pretty. But i’m going to have to ask if you and your crew can leave me and Flice on the goddess continent?”

“Sure that shouldn’t be a problem, by the way wouldn't you consider joining us for a while it could be good and you might gain more things than just a golden furred sheep wolf, how about it?” Sans shook his head.

“Nay I have some things that have to be done plus I haven’t been back there in a while I might find something more interesting.”

With that said the group reached the top and looked to the Crew who had been tied up. The captain had already been killed by Sans so the highest ranking member there was the vice captain. It was easy to spot him due to the nice sailor clothes he was wearing and next to him seemed to be a number of advance ranked crewmembers. When the children came up Jessica glared at the group.

“See this is what you were transporting and this is why we attacked. For those of you who had nothing to do with this then I'll let you off as you should still be able to make it back to the demon continent with the provisions on board. But for those of you who knew well that's a differ the story.”

While what she said hadn’t been entirely true she was now more than justified for her attack on the cargo ship.

“I’m the vice captain and I can tell you that they were not on our ship and either way you can’t prove anything. If you want an excuse for actions then I don’t care just do what you will.”

While he might have sounded proud and right the vice captain had a cold sweat running down his back at the fact that they had found the children. He was only acting in such a way so that they would spare his life.

“Well I will not be the judge of that, instead I have this.” After she finished speaking, Jessica took out a green orb from behind her coat, when she did the vice captain's face turned pale.

“Ah you know what this little truth ball is, well for those of you who don’t it turns red when someone lies. So, who’s first? Is it the righteous vice captain?”

With nothing else and knowing he would likely die the vice captain broke out laughing.

“... Well then I guess this is the grave of us all… It was a nice run.”

Then the captain let out a loud whistle.

“That was for one of the dogs to cut a rope that will release a large amount of blood into the ocean, but not just any kind of blood!”

While he was speaking the calm waves began to turn violent.

“It’s the blood of a baby sea devil!”

When he spoke everyone panicked and ran for the pirate ship that was ready to set sail. But they were today one tenth all after another, four in all, came out of the water grasping the the ship.

“That’s a big one I think we’re going to have to do it to live! Yes something to bring us closer!” Knowing that it was right Sans sighed and looked at all those around him.

“Everyone I'm going to call someone much more frightening than that if you wanna live close your eyes and look down!!!”

With that he let out a great roar, his clothes tore and the sound of chains rattling resounded in everyone’s head. They knew what was coming, everyone knew the stories, [Chained Abyss]. With it on it’s way and the child who could somehow bring it out standing before them everyone but Flice who didn’t know what was happening closed their eyes and put their heads down.

Sans began to transform from his back appeared metal wings made of a large number of chains, his height increased making him resemble an adult of at least nineteen years old, and his hair became the darkest shade of black almost seeming to take in and eat the surrounding light.

“Ahhh we didn’t want to do this but you forced us! Now petty creature of the sea prepare to die!”
