The dryad was traumatized, she had a vacant blank look in her eyes. She didn't resist at all, when I picked her up and took her away.
The question is where do I keep her now. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel guilty. I keep on running and running through the forest. I can't go in deeper, the monsters there are out of my league.
I move for a full eighty minutes before I stop and find a croppy hilltop. I find a cave high up and chill in there. It started raining a little while ago and the dryad is still in that state of shock.
I sit down cross-legged and look out at the immense number of trees stretching before me. There's a moment of relief and anger that courses through my body.
All this time and the one nugget of wisdom I can grasp onto is: Weakness is a sin. Weakness wrecked everything on Earth for me and weakness just destroyed everything for this dryad. She was pushed out of her home, her siblings were killed and here she is, teetering on the edge of insanity all because of weakness.
Now, there's another reason for me to get that skill. I just turned into a missionary from a mercenary.
I look at the dryad and decide to activate my beast taming skill. She must be getting the prompt because her eyes focused a little bit at that.
"Accept me as your master and I will make you the strongest dryad on this land. Strong enough to kill that man. The moment you become strong enough you can abandon me, this doesn't have to be more than a simple exchange."

I sit there for a few more minutes. I'm trying to think of a plan. I have about 3 levels in the miner class. The reason it isn't any higher is because I was just mining azulite ores. You need to mine a variety of ores in order to level up. That gives me one indication of how the system works. Level-ups aren't dependent on doing the exact same thing over and over. There needs to be some sort of variety.
Stolen novel; please report.
I decide to log back out. I tell the dryad to not move away, she's around level 10 so, she should be fine. I'm on the outskirts of the forest and she should be fine.
The first thing I do is check if I have any hospital fees. There's some but they can wait for a week. Next is the electric bill. That should be fine. Then, it's the insane amount of loans I've taken out. I cringe at the amount. I don't want to look at it.
I decide to hop on some forums. Miner can't be my base class. Those 3 levels are wasted. I start scrolling through the intense variation of classes, that are in Magical Frontier.
I decide on one. It should give me some good boosts and it's got enough leeway. It's only up to level 10 but that's fine for a base.
I munch on a granola bar and check the box. They're finished, I ordered a box before logging back in. I find the dryad sitting in the cave. She's holding a rabbit in her hands, she hasn't killed it yet. I don't think she wants to hurt it so, she's just holding it.
"Don't kil it if you don't want to, I'll bring back some food. It might take me an hour or two so, don't worry."
One of the perks of using [Beast Taming] on a humanoid beast is that they can understand you. I don't know if it works with other people as well.
I head to the city. I'm not wearing the armor anymore, I've downgraded it to [Hibernation Mode]. I reach the city with no problems so, I deactivate it.
I decide to head down to the mage guild. It's not the only mage guild and this one is under the Arch-Mage Rulfon.
"I would like to apply for the [Enchanter Class Quest]." The receptionist looks up at me and replies, "That'll be 150 silver frags."
Oof. 150 silver frags. That's just day-light robbery. "An extra fifty credits for the [Basic Enchantments Manual]. It was authored by the Arch-Mage himself."
200 credits! Daylight robbery! My foot is halfway out the door but I decide to come back. I need to invest in my [Build]. Yes, this is an investment. Before, my emotions catch up, I pay the 200 credits.
It's wiped out most of my proceeds. I have an extra 300 silver frags left. I need to use them for any bills. I should get more quests.
I grab some food, it's worth 5 silver frags. It's a bit overindulgent for my tastes but I get it for the dryad. I feed myself in-game on brown bread.
I head back and open the box, its some sweet and sour chicken with some sauce. This shop was built out by a player. I need to start cooking myself cause I can't pay for it all the time. I don't buy the cooking skill, you can obtain it by yourself.
I open the wooden box and the steaming rice with the chicken spreads an insane aroma through the cave. I don't think the dryad's had any food for a long time.
