As Feng Tian walked away in the darkness of the night, he failed to notice a pair of gleeful, venomous eyes staring at him from the rooftop. At this moment, the middle-aged Feng Xiao was standing on the rooftop, watching Feng Tian’s back as he walked further and further away.
A sinister aura covered Feng Xiao’s figure, and plastering his face was a murderous expression as he spoke to himself in a strange tone, “Little bastard, just wait and watch how I ruin you today.”
As Feng Tian’s figure slowly disappeared in the distance, Feng Xiao also turned around to head back down. Both the sinister aura around him, and the murderous look on his face disappeared as if they had been nothing but an illusion, and serenity returned to his face.
No one could tell what went on in his head.
……
Various thoughts flooded Feng Tian’s mind as he aimlessly wandered around in the dead of the night. His return to the past was the biggest question mark. He couldn’t fathom how something like that could even transpire? He had never heard of any existence capable of such an impossible feat, nor was there any record of such a powerful treasure.
The ability to manipulate time was something only the fabled Gods possessed, and he was sure all Gods were dead… or so said the records. No, that wasn’t what mattered. The real question was why he had been chosen? In the first place, was he even specifically chosen, or was he just extremely lucky and returned to the past as a side-effect of some supreme, hidden existence reversing time?
Could it be that he simply happened to be at the right place at the right time? There were so many possibilities that Feng Tian knew he would never know the answer if he kept throwing blind darts like this. It was better for him to focus on the effect instead of wasting his time pondering over the cause.
If he was the reason for time’s reversal, then he will certainly meet the one who caused it and receive the explanation he needed. And if he ended up back as a side-effect, then his presence probably didn’t matter enough in the grand scheme of things to warrant any kind of explanation.
Either way, his priority was to make the best of this chance the Heavens had bestowed upon him.
……
“Feng Tian, you sure arrived early today,” a merry voice broke Feng Tian out of his thoughts as he subconsciously raised his head to look at the source of the voice, “I was just wishing I had someone to- WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOUR FACE?!”
The merry voice that sounded gleeful at the beginning turned into a loud shout towards the end. Feng Tian felt his ears were about to fall off as the noise struck against his eardrums. Was this person trying to wake up the entire region?
“Huh?” but as soon as Feng Tian took in his surroundings, he was stunned to find himself in a place he hadn’t even set out for. In front of him stood a construction site for a skyscraper, and he was currently at the entrance of the said site.
“GREAT WAR ZONE CONSTRUCTION AGENCY!”

“DANGER! STAY AWAY!”
“HEAVY MACHINERY AT WORK! STAY AT A DISTANCE!”
“DO NOT TRESPASS!”
“ONLY AGENCY PERSONNEL MAY ENTER!”
Many such warning signs were scattered at the entrance and around the construction site to keep the people from the place, lest they get injured or end up as collateral damage.
‘Did I really just walk all the way to work?’ Feng Tian’s lips twitched as the thought crossed his mind. He hadn’t even left for this place, but he still ended up here. Just then, he also realized that his behavior and actions until now had been quite strange. He was too impulsive when he jumped at that old bastard right after he saw him.
He hadn’t been able to control his rage and hatred for some reason, even though his feelings against the old bastard should have mellowed down — disappeared, even — after how long he had lived. Everything related to this world should have been an insignificant matter of the past, unable to evoke any response from him even if he returned to the past.
But… Feng Tian decided that now wasn’t the time to think about such matters. He had to first deal with the pot-bellied mountain rushing towards him. Immediately, Feng Tian raised his hand in a motion to halt the other person, and said, “Supervisor Chong, halt! You will break my bones if you slam into me.”
Supervisor Chong. As soon as Feng Tian had heard his voice and seen his face, his memories related to the supervisor had vividly surfaced in his mind as he remembered everything. Since he was already here, nothing could be done. Moreover, he was going to come to the construction site for work today, anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal if he arrived a bit early.
As a matter of fact, he had left to find a clinic to get himself checked. His face and stomach still burned after receiving those punches from that old piece of shit. He hadn’t held back in the least. If not for the fact that his body had built-up some resistance to pain after getting abused all his life, Feng Xiao would have undoubtedly broken some of his weak bones.
It’s just that, he had arrived at the construction site before he could realize.
……
As Supervisor Chong saw Feng Tian’s raised hand and heard his words, he immediately halted. What that weak-ass looking kid said was true. With how scrawny he looked, a lot of people thought that a strong gust of wind could blow him away. But Supervisor Chong knew that wasn’t the truth.
Although the kid wasn’t the strongest, he could take a beating and had great stamina, or else, he wouldn’t be able to survive at a construction site for so long. As the thoughts crossed Supervisor Chong’s mind, pity filled his eyes as he looked at Feng Tian.
“Was it that piece of shit Xiao again?” An expression of fury appeared on Supervisor Chong’s face as he said those words, but it wasn’t long before he calmed down again. Remembering the kid’s situation, he knew he couldn’t do anything even if he wanted to.
He was well aware of the kid’s situation, but there wasn’t much help he could lend. It was their misfortune that they lived in the heinous lands of the Great War Zone. Arriving in front of him, he lightly patted Feng Tian’s shoulder and said with a sigh, “Let’s go, I will bring you to Doctor Li’s place. He should be awake right now.”
