It's not a video game, Val!

It's not a video game, Val!

Midnight struck. Spring arrived.

Fen left the cheerful noise of the town square festival behind to walk through the gorge and forest.

On this special day, Aries fire magic was arriving to replace the Pisces water magic that inundated not only Gardenia Gorge but the entire world. Fen enjoyed watching the dance of elemental magic up close and alone.

Once he was away from the bustling town square, he took off his glasses. With his opaque glasses on, he could only see Aries magic swirling around the Pisces magic. Now that it was night and he was alone, he could take off his glasses to watch nature. The Aries [something] herb grew, glowing red, and the Pisces [something] herb, glowing blue, shrank down.

The Pisces water magic that filled the oak trees slowly drained out. The Aries fire magic replaced it. Midnight was a transitional time where the trees glowed with both magic. Tonight, the water magic was strong against the fire magic.

Fen stopped walking. In front of him was a majestic oak tree where the swirling blue color didn’t seem to be draining out at all. Red flaming colors were only at the roots and tips of leaves.

Fen didn’t mind helping nature along. He used his Libra air magic to push the Pisces magic out of the oak tree so the Aries magic could flourish. The blue swirls of colors vanished into the night air.

Fen continued his walk, pushing magic around here and there as he pleased. The night was cool but his black hanfu kept him warm. He slipped like a happy shadow towards the cliff that made the northern border of Gardenia Gorge. At the base of the cliff he had a decision to make. Should he climb the steps carved into the cliff and wander the foothills? Or should he turn right, which was eastward, at the base of the cliff to see the waterfall? Easy choice. Of course he wanted to see the waterfall as the Pisces magic was leaving.

He swept down the path. Within a half hour the sounds of water crashing over a cliff drifted through the night air. Fen reached the clearing within a short time after that first sign of the waterfall.
