Eriq stared at the email on his screen.
"Pathway...online?"
'Why do I keep getting this email?' he thought to himself. Eriq had never signed up to receive any emails for this game. He opened a new tab and searched for the company that created the game.
He looked at the first result. 'Nightfall Game Company... looks like this is their first game.' he exited out of the tab and proceeded to read the email.
"We select you, ERIQ HOLLOWAY, to join us at Nightfall Game Company!"
'What...? Are they trying to recruit me?' he pondered. Eriq had some experience with working for game companies but he always got terminated in the end. He had terrible social skills and angered his coworkers on a daily basis.
"As you may know, Nightfall was once known as Toothless Games. Creators of games including Telezap, Super Sorcerers, and our most popular game Clashers."
This piqued Eriq's interest. He had worked for Toothless Games before and had a better experience there than anywhere else. He was layed off when they shut down but quickly moved on to a different company.
"We kept files on everyone who had been layed off by Toothless, and formally apologise and wish to have you join us once more."

Eriq wasn't going to take the job. He had enough on his plate already with college. He wasn't going to start up again. Besides, how good could the game be anyways? Toothless games only made decent retro games and horrible FPS.
The job that was being offered was a bit different than usual, however. They were calling it expander. Eriq thought this was just some sort of deluded way to trick people into taking some terrible job. But then he read what came after.
"Being an expander is quite simple. Each day you must play our new game, Pathway Online, for a certain amount of time. Afterwards, you send us either a video or a report on what you accomplished, anything that needs fixing, anything that would require the assistance of an administrator and so on. You will be paid for every significant quest or activity you complete and will be paid for the time spent playing the game"
Eriq was interested now. 'This sounds pretty easy. Maybe I coul-' Eriq's train of thought was interrupted by a phone call.
