Kiel ventured into the dark passage in front, guided only by his excellent night vision and his newly enhanced skill while the others rested for a while longer behind him.
Since the area ahead was completely void of light, he offered to scout.
Before he could move for more than two minutes, he found another couple of bunnies hopping and moving slowly in the darkness. Behind the bunnies was the familiar faint light from the moss, and he slowed down.
The bunnies had yet to notice him. There were only four of them in front of him, yet he was certain dozens more would rush up to join the moment the fight started.
He had no wish to repeat the previous mess where he needed Melissa to bail him out, but at the same time... all he needed to do was take care of this without making a sound. He had the advantage in the fact they couldn't see as well as he did.
He didn't let indecision take him, he could handle four bunnies without alerting the rest.
Taking a deep breath, he teleported next to the nearest bunny, cutting its head off with a swipe of his claws. The bunny next to it jumped towards him head first intending to impale him and end the fight, but given it could barely see, it was off mark and without needing to teleport away, he swatted its horn to the side.
Two more jumped at him at the same time and he teleported above to avoid them. These ones were more accurate than their sibling, but hopping in the dark and hoping to hit someone who could teleport was in a word, foolish.
He fell on top of the first bunny that was hopping towards him and his claws cut through its soft flesh like butter. The bunny turned its head towards him, but it was too late and he separated its head from its body before it could do anything else.
The other bunny only now noticed where he teleported to, and it was furious. It was about to scream, and he did not want to deal with the results of that, so he immediately teleported right in front of it, his paws already moving towards its head.
It didn't manage to utter a word before half of its head was cut off.
He let out a breath when he suddenly heard a screeching noise and his head turned to the bunny whose attack he'd swiped away. Despite his ability to see in the dark and his new skill, he still somehow managed to forget about the fourth bunny.
He teleported next to it, ending its life, but he was too late. Now he could stay and fight the horde that would inevitably form, or he could ask for help.
He felt bad about cutting their rest short but having people to support him and not relying on them was idiotic.
He sent a message over to Melissa, telling her to prepare for another horde and to retreat a bit further behind in order to not be caught by surprise by the horde of bunnies rushing out of the darkness.
A few seconds after he did that, a series of high pitched screeches filled the cave and he started running towards his friends.
In the near darkness in this part of the cave, he found it easier to navigate using his Spatial Sense. The skill leveled up in the middle of the fight, and the range he could see had expanded by about half a meter.
Relying on his spatial sense, he ran as fast as he could, a point well below his maximum speed as he wasn't able to see far enough to react at the level his highest speed had reached. He found it hard to believe he could now rival a modern day car if he pushed himself.
He reached Melissa and the rest in just a few seconds, and made plans for testing his actual max speed in the future. He wondered how fast he could go without having to avoid trees or bad terrain.
Out of the darkness, bunnies started to appear one by one, and upon seeing them, immediately started charging at them. He had hoped they would come all at once, clumped up together to take advantage of Melissa's high area of effect skill.
Seeing no other choice, he planned to engage after Melissa attacked, but Cassandra moved first. The sigil on her bow started glowing for the first time in the dungeon, and her arrow took an ethereal quality to it.
When she let loose, the arrow missed every bunny, landing on the ground in the middle of the charging horde. In an instant, the bunnies all stopped and turned towards the arrow, with more of them coming from behind and doing the same.
Before Kiel had a chance to understand what was going on, he realized he too was staring at the arrow, inexplicably drawn into it. He shook his head out of it, only to see Edel doing the same.
Melissa took the opportunity to unleash her skill on the group of bunnies, a number that he didn't even want to imagine fighting on his own.
This time the fireball was larger, wider, and seemed to burn less hot. Maybe that was why this time they could hear the bunnies screaming. It was different than the screeches of rage or fear. The screams didn't last for long, but they were... unsettling.

Melissa looked uneasy, and he brushed against her leg to comfort her. Cass hugged her and they retreated further back into the cave.
Even a few dozens of meters away from the burnt bodies they couldn't escape the smell.
"Well, can't say I envy this aspect of fire ether," Cassandra said, "but you can't argue about the results." She gave her arm to Melissa who took it and got up.
"I had forgotten why I stopped dungeon delving... at least I think silver-ranked dungeons are more extensive," Melissa said in response.
Well, the constant danger certainly didn't make for a picnic night.
After resting for a bit they walked over the charred bodies and further inside the cave. No more bunnies came to greet them and soon they saw the cave opening up to a massive cavern almost twice the size of the one they saw in the goblin dungeon. Inside the cavern were dozens of white bunnies, all larger than the ones they fought previously. Among them was a black bunny three times their size yet.
It was a monster unlike the other bunnies they met. Frankly, it could hardly be called a bunny. Its hind legs and paws were elongated, forming the image of a slender giant bunny fresh out of an old horror film. Kiel really wanted to ask how this creature was considered a boss for a bronze-ranked dungeon.
He didn't know who categorized these dungeons, but they had one job. He was pretty sure the one who ranked this one as bronze was either drunk during the assessment or sleeping.
The larger bunnies now seemed insignificant compared to the bunny monstrosity, but in all honesty they were pretty dangerous in their own right. Melissa had told him that the last time they attempted this dungeon they were in a group of more than ten people. They were able to focus on eliminating the monsters while the frontline drew the attention of the boss.
They didn't have the numbers to copy that strategy, so the opposing monsters had the advantage there. He still believed they weren't going to be an issue. At least with Edel, Melissa, and Cassandra's bow, he could confidently say the bunnies wouldn't last for more than a few seconds.
In which case it fell to him to distract the boss.
Melissa seemed worried when he told her his plan, but they both knew he was the best cat for the job.
He walked ahead of the rest, running inside the cavern and instantly drawing the attention of every bunny. He ignored all the bunnies save for the boss. Having drawn the attention of the rest of the bunnies didn't matter too much as the sigil in Cassandra's bow lit up and suddenly their attention was drawn elsewhere.
Thankfully the effect was pretty easy to ignore once you were aware of it, which made it perfect for large group of monsters. The boss didn't seem to have been affected as much as the rest of the bunnies, but that was his problem to take care of.
Behind him he could hear Edel growl and the sound of arrows hitting flesh.
He put them all out of his mind as the monstrous bunny took a lumbering step towards him and then its speed exploded. That took him by surprise enough to instinctively teleport away. The bunny's slender body was much faster than he expected, although where it had an advantage in speed, it lost in strength.
The bunny's limb hit the ground where he stood a moment ago and broke the stone around it. It might not be as strong as the goblin boss, but he still wouldn't want to take a hit.
He saw a flash of fire and he knew the others were wrapping up their part of the fight, so he just had to keep it busy. He exchanged his vitality for half perception and half strength, deciding he would need both if he were to avoid its attacks.
Annoyingly, Melissa's attack drew its attention away from him.
Finding the chance to attack a distracted opponent, he teleported behind it and swiped his claws at its back. Thankfully, he still had his enhanced perception, which was why he was able to avoid the bunny immediately reacting to his teleportation and swinging its right arm at him.
He teleported below its arm, avoiding the blow.
The monster turned its head almost a hundred and eighty degrees towards him, and jumped towards his new position. This time he didn't teleport, opting to dodge past its attack and conserve his ability to teleport for when he absolutely needed it.
Teleporting twice in practically the same second had been harder than he thought, and it put a strain on him that alongside with Unbound Adaptation was quickly draining his energy.
He needed to teleport twice more in order to avoid its attacks and keep its attention on him, but no more than a minute had passed when the first attack from his party came. Behind him the rest of the bunnies lived no longer.
Cassandra fired an arrow which the agile monster managed to evade with ease. It instantly switched its attention from him to her and he couldn't help but curse.
Deciding that this wasn't going to be enough, he asked Melissa to trust him.
He teleported in front of the monster's face, taking it by surprise and using his claws to take them out of the equation, while at the same time asking Melissa to attack. The monster dodged back, avoiding his claws, but he didn't really care about that.
He teleported away a split second before Melissa's fireball passed where he'd been and hit the boss.
A massive fireball torched the ground where the boss stood, and Cassandra didn't hesitate in making a pincushion of the now temporarily immobile monster.
The monster screeched in anger, and he was suddenly glad his friends were able to attack at range.
Before it recovered enough to jump towards them, Edel struck it with her lightning and a smaller fire arrow hit the head of the bunny. In just a few seconds, they had a very big and very angry looking bunny.
Although it still stood tall, its fur smoked from Melissa's attacks, and Cassandra hadn't let up either.
It jumped back, but before it could get further away, an arrow struck its leg, and the monster screeched in annoyance. When another arrow planted itself in its right eye, the annoyance turned into pain.
This time it ran towards them, and Edel blocked its path. She ignored its swinging arm and bit its leg, tearing a massive gouge of burnt flesh from its body.
Not letting up on the assault, he teleported above its head, slashing with his claws at its exposed neck.
His claws cut through its burnt fur and flesh with the full strength of Unbound Adaptation, and although the monster tried to dodge, it wasn't fast enough.
The bunny abomination fell, and Cassandra launched another three arrows at its head for good measure.
Looking at the fallen bunny, he let out a breath, sprawling on the ground and waiting for his heart to calm down. A familiar message greeted his vision,
You have killed an essence enhanced monster! Part of its essence joins yours, you have gained +1 in the Body attribute.
"Well, that was exciting," Cassandra said with a smile, "Are you all up for one more?"
Both he and Melissa just stared at her.
