Chapter 25

CRACK!

Suddenly there was a loud cracking sound.

"Not good. I forgot about the ancestors." The old king spoke in a tone full of worry.

"Quickly, take this and quickly refine it." The old king spoke to his wife hurriedly while handing her half of the core from Lin Feng. Although his ancestors were visiting them, he would have lived in vain if he let them know about the core. He didn't doubt they would snatch it from him if they caught wind about it.

The queen took the core and quickly sat down in a meditative stance. She was no fool. She understood her husband's intentions.

The southern king followed his wife's action and also took a meditative stance. He circulated his qi and directed the half- core in front of his glabella. The core started to spin faster and faster until it became a stream of yellow light and entered the king's glabella. The stream of light then traveled through his meridians and settled inside his dantian.

CRACK!

The sound of a membrane breaking could be heard. This was followed by his dantian increasing in size. The process repeated four times before stopping.

"Hahahaha... I knew this was the right choice."The old king was ecstatic.

"Could I be a genius?" The king amused himself. He had broken through four stages, he was initially at the peak of void transformation, but now he was at the peak of true immortal. This was unprecedented. If his ancestors were to know, they would probably die from the proverbial vomiting blood.

"Indeed, it was the right choice." The queen spoke next to the king, she too, had benefited a lot. Her cultivation was at the peak of domain formation, but now she had jumped several major levels and settled at the peak of golden immortal. This was not a power to be underestimated. If she decided to ascend, she had the minimum qualifications required to form a sect.

"What is even more amazing is that the cultivation base has fully been stabilized, and I can also feel the flaws that I previously had have been removed." The king added excitedly. Indeed, removing previous flaws is also a huge benefit to them. The reason most cultivators fail to ascend is usually that their cultivation bases have a lot of flaws. Even if some managed to ascend, they were doomed to be stuck at the Human immortal for the rest of their lives.

While the king and queen were still checking the benefits they had gotten, the sky above them was experiencing changes, the previous cracking sound wasn't a false alarm, right now the crack had enlarged to the size of two relatively tall adults, suddenly two illusionary hands divided the cracks making it to be enlarged.

"Quickly, go through before it starts to self-repair." An old authoritative voice thundered.

WHOOSH!

Silhouette after silhouette emerged from the other side of the crack, they were followed by an old man that seemed to be in his last stages of life. The old man had a thick, long, white beard. He adorned himself in white robes with green stripes giving off a cold and aloof vibe.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Where is the little kid from the Mu Clan?" The old man's voice thundered several li around him, making everyone that heard it shudder in fear.

The authoritative voice awakened the southern king. It was then that he remembered he was supposed to welcome his ancestors.

"Little Mu pays respect to the ancestor." The old king said politely while cupping his fist. He didn't dare call himself a king in front of an immortal venerable. Although his cultivation has increased by leaps and bounds, he knew the figure in front of him didn't require much to squish him like a bug.

"Xiao Mu, you summoned me saying that the forbidden land had broken? How come I see no destruction?" The old immortal spoke calmly.

"Ancestor, it was indeed like that, but a senior has already taken care of it." The king explained politely.

Hearing this, the old immortal frowned and asked.

"What do you mean by senior? And what do you mean by ``already taken care of?"

The old immortal was right to question. He was the ancestor of the southern territory, so in front of him, no seniors existed in the mortal or immortal realm, and there was no way other immortal venerable from the Other territory would waste their energy to help other territories. They were enemies after all.

Also, he had personally participated in previous fights when the forbidden land opened, so he knew there was no way the problem could be resolved within a short period. Since the lord of the forbidden land acquired a cultivation base at the immortal venerable, he had never defeated him in a fight. Usually, he would engage with him while the rest of the army worked to kill other creatures from the forbidden land until they returned inside.

For someone to have taken care of the issue, he didn't doubt the person had to have a cultivation base at the saint realm.

"Back to the ancestor, the seniors entered the forbidden land and seemed to have taken it away."

"What!"

The old immortal was truly shocked now. He unleashed his powerful divine sense and scanned towards the direction the forbidden land used to be.

"What, it is true?" The old immortal spoke under his breath.

"Who is this senior?" The old immortal asked with reverence in his voice, him being an immortal venerable made him understand just what kind of power was needed to perform such a feat.

"How is this possible?" The old immortal was suddenly pleasantly surprised again. He rushed towards the king and absorbed the spiritual energy around him.

"Heavens, this energy is so pure." The immortal spoke excitedly. He had wanted the king to give him answers when he spotted the pure energy around him. The energy was so pure that it made his so-called holy land spiritual energy seem like trash. No, it didn't seem like trash. It was trash.

"The energy has already depleted." The old immortal spoke with regret. He had managed only to absorb a few wisps when the energy disappeared. The old immortal calmed himself down and looked at the king with seriousness.

"How come you are already an immortal? And you are already in the True immortal realm? Your wife, too, is an immortal? My god, what the hell is happening?" The old immortal almost had a heart attack. It would have been embarrassing for him to die due to a heart attack despite his cultivation.

It was shock after shock for him. He steeled his heart and decided he wouldn't be shocked anymore, no matter what.

"The senior handed us a beast core and instructed us to refine it quickly." The king spoke with fear in his voice. He was using the senior's name to lie. If the senior decided to act, would he still live?

The old immortal looked at the king with regret on his face. He wished he had arrived sooner. He knew the energy was wasted on the two. He dared to think they didn't absorb a tenth of the energy contained in the core. If only he had arrived sooner. Alas, there are no ifs.

"Can you describe how the senior looks like?" The old immortal asked the king. Since the senior took his time to help remove the forbidden land, he figured he must have some connections with the southern territory. Maybe he was his ancestor.

"It is like this...." The king started speaking, but he soon encountered a problem. He couldn't describe the senior's identity at all. It was not that he didn't want to, but rather he couldn't, he had forgotten his face, and at the same time, he hadn't forgotten.

"I can't remember." The king explained in frustration. He couldn't remember the senior and the girl that was beside him.

"Don't worry." The old immortal suddenly spoke. He seemed to have confirmed something by his expression.

"When a cultivator reaches a certain realm, they can make you forget their appearance if your cultivation is low."

He had asked the king to describe the seniors since he wanted to confirm if the cultivation base was high or not.

"So, what should we do?" The king asked.

"The two of you are supposed to ascend. You can't stay in the mortal realm anymore. You should choose your successor quickly." The old immortal spoke bitterly. He wasn't done brooding over the fact he had missed such a great opportunity.
