The sound of ambience filled Maisie's ears. She felt like she was floating in the ocean, drifting to a faraway place, never to return to the world of Eldoria. Maisie finally opened her eyes. Confusion was the first emotion she felt, before fear hit her like a tonne of bricks. Maisie then sat up, which was a massive mistake when she found herself drowning in water. The dark grey skies slowly disappeared when she slowly disappeared into the abyss of the dark, cold waters.
Warmth.
That’s what the elf felt next, as she felt her body slowly lifting. Her depleting vision returned soon enough for her to make out the pale, large, glowing hands lifting her up. Finally, Maisie was on the surface again and placed on a single boat, floating by itself on the water.
‘What’s going on?’ Maisie thought to herself as fear coated her every bone.
"There is nothing you should be afraid of." A soft voice echoed across the desolate area. Without a second wasted, Maisie snapped her head up. With widened eyes and her mouth agape, Maisie stood up on the boat, balancing herself as she did. She recognised the voice. She knew that voice.
“You’re the reason I’m here!” She yelled, her voice travelling everywhere. “My prayers were for my soul to return to a world of peace and happiness, not one with turmoil.” She yelled, and the anger she couldn’t hold burst out. The large, glowing white being, who looked like her but had long, flowy lilac hair, stared down at her, emotionless. Maisie grew angrier at being ignored,so she pointed a single finger at the large elf being.
“I demand some answers!” She exclaimed, her face reddening by a second.
“You’ll receive them in due time.” And with that, Maisie’s consciousness started to slip. After a while, Maisie once again jolted up, only this time she was in bed. Startled by the sudden movements, Hide, who slept on a chair next to her, woke up. The room was dimly lit by a single candle, so Hide couldn’t make out the horrified expression sprawled across Maisie’s face.
“You okay?” He asked groggily. The white-haired girl snapped out of her daze and looked at him. She weakly smiled, then nodded.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m okay.” She replied unconvincingly. Lucky for her, Hide was far too tired to pick up on any cues, so he nodded and fell back to sleep. Maisie, thankful for this, slipped out of bed, fixing her gown in the process. She quietly exited the bedroom and walked into the living room, where Bonney, Conan, and Lyon were asleep next to a board game, with the fireplace lit up. The sight of Lyon out of his armour brought out an emotion within her that she didn’t like. He lay there sprawled out, with tight-fitted leather trousers and a black, tightly-fitted shirt. The young woman shook her head, getting rid of the unsavoury thoughts.

Upon looking at the group, she found Kalthona missing. However, the axe-wielder's voice was quick to reach Maisie’s ears. It was coming from outside, so the elf quickly left the cottage and went into the large valley, gasping at the beauty. The star-filled night sky lit up every inch of the open space, as well as the waterfalls. The horses and cows laid on the grass, getting some good sleep. In the middle of the valley stood Kalthona, spinning the handle of her flame-lit axe. She was training. Maisie stood behind her, pondering whether she should interrupt her, but when Kalthona turned around and noticed Maisie, she was quick to run towards the elf and pull her into a bear hug, making sure she didn’t hurt the elf with her axe.
“I’m glad you’re okay!” The tanned girl exclaimed in glee.
“Thank you.” Maisie replied. The elf was still slightly shaken up by what she experienced, so interacting with Kalthona was harder than usual. The flame user noticed this and pushed Maisie to open up.
“Something’s on your mind, so spill it." She commanded gently, and Maisie broke. The hug then averted her gaze before biting her bottom lip. She pondered over whether she should tell Kalthona, and after a while, she decided to share the details.
“I think I met the person that summoned me here.” Maisie grumbled. Kalthona placed a hand around her ear, not quite hearing the elf.
“You what!?” She asked, a little too loudly,
“I met my summoner!” Maisie yelled back, annoyed. Without a single thought behind her eyes, Kalthona answered.
“That’s cool. What were they like?” Maisie stood there, bewildered. Did the flame user not hear her? She expected a more explosive reaction. The elf then stared at the girl before her, who awaited her answer.
“It was scary at first, before I grew angry.” Maisie explained.
“Understandable.” Kalthona replied, her grin never wavering. Worried, Maisie knocked on the tanned girl’s forehead.
“I’m home.” Kalthona replied, slightly offended.
“Oh. I was waiting for more of a reaction, that’s all.” Geez, this conversation was heading down awkwardly. However, upon further looking at Kalthona, Maisie noticed that the flame user was struggling with something too.
"What a way to miss the mood, Maisie,” she scolded herself. By the time she was out of her own head, Kalthona was already walking back down to the middle of the field to continue training.
Maisie ran after her, yelling.
“Do you want to talk!?” Kalthona waved her hand, signalling no. “Why not!?” The elf pushed,
“Coz I don’t want to!" Kalthona answered, swinging her axe again.
The night then continued with Maisie trying to probe into Kalthona’s mind and the uneasy feeling of meeting her summoner again.
