Synopsis
The act of sending the deceased off is a sacred one that has passed down since ancient times. Our ancestors who weren't blessed with the light of the Gods would simply just dig a grave and bury the body inside of it, but that was a crude and barbaric method that would simply lead the soul astray, forever being unable to reach the Kingdom of a God.
Since then thousands of years have passed and mortals have been blessed with the wisdom of the Gods. They now have official ceremonies and practices when sending off their deceased. The Water Dwellers hold Ysharvak as the Tyrant of the Ocean who would accept the souls of mortals into his Kingdom after their body had been encased in a coffin and sent drifting to the ocean. Mystricia the Spectral Faces would only take the souls of mortals after their family left their body on the family dinner table, the body would then disappear a week later.
There are now countless ways to send off the deceased and this practice is well known as Burial Rites, the sacred ceremony of sending the souls of the deceased to the Kingdom of the God they believe in.
