2       Axle:         Cant.  I have my ceremony tonight.

4 Axel: Hey Uncle Brad.

5 Brad: hey.  I see you took my advice on the firing range.  Your mom still pissed?

5 [Axel smirked as he relaxes on the couch--brad is still off camera]

6 Axel: Yes and no.  I Promised her I would stay with the Black Dragons until I was 18 to make her happy.  With my overall score I could have joined any patrol.  But if I started with the Black Dragons with the score I could start up an extra rank.  So now I start at a higher rank and I'll work on various training while keeping mom off my ass.

7 Brad: Well played.  oh before i forget.  Check the table over there.

1 Brad: You didn’t have to take the assessment on the day of your birthday.  And to do it behind her back.  You're lucky that she didn’t kill you on the spot. She almost used those axes on my ass when she found out.

4 Axel: Why wait?  it’s not like it's going to be any better out there anytime soon. Other people have done so much already.

5 Brad: Bullshit.  You want to kick some ass.

6 Axel:       Well if people would tell me more about Dad this would not be an issue.

7 Brad:         Your Mom told you plenty of stories.  What else do you want?

8 Axel: Yeah but that's the edited version.  Give me the no bullshit version. I know that's not the full story.

1 Brad: You realize the position you're putting me in? Your mom will kill me.

2 Brad: Tell me what you see in that book.

3 [Axel flips through the pages of the book]

3 Axel: It’s a world atlas from 2019.  Shows what the United States .  Different countries.  Europe.  The Republic of Congo.

4 Brad: I found that a few years ago.  I keep it as a reminder.  As far as we know none of these countries exist anymore. We hope to find out someday.

5 Brad: Tensions between different groups were so high it was unbelievable.  Racial, political, religious, economic. So much anger ......so much hate.  Democrats blame Republicans. Republicans blame Democrats. No one would compromise anymore. It just was not in the US. It was worldwide. People were so set in their ways that long time friends became enemies, families splintered apart.

7.       Brad:   North Korea made the mistake of launching a nuke at China.  The missile malfunctioned and prematurely blew up. China had enough intelligence not to fire one back. However, that did not stop China from waltzing in on Korea and stomping them. We didn't care at first until they started to invade South Korea as well. Then Japan’s ships were being sunk so Japan got involved. That started WW3. China had some technology and plenty of weapons but most of all they had numbers of soldiers .

1 Brad: Vietnam.  Both gulf wars.  Afghanistan. ISIS.  All seemed like schoolyard fighting compared to this. China's war machine was like those zombie movies. One would fall another one would pop up

2 Brad: Due to heavy losses during the campaign, Mercenary companies companies from all over the world were hired.  Brittens.  Russians.  Germans. After 7 years everyone was slowing down. Not because they were close to peace but no one was pumping out soldiers fast enough. The draft was reinstated and still we were losing.Hell as I look back everybody was losing.  If there was any alien life out there looking at us they made sure to stay way far away from this place.  

3 [Hospitals overflowing with very sick patients ]

3 Brad: February 2020 people started to get very sick.  There was mass panic about this new virus.  So many died.  It did not seem to matter where you lived. It was everywhere with no true point of origin.   Everybody was pointing fingers instead of coming together to stop this death. We Lost your great grandparents to this sickness.   I missed my own grandparents' funeral....

4 Brad: August is where the War on humans began.  It was a low blow to attack, when so many were dying  from this virus.  Tactically, it was a brilliant move, but still it was a Dick move.  They just rose out from underneath, out of abandoned buildings,  from hell itself it seemed like.

5 Brad: November the attacks just stopped.  Most of the invaders just disappeared.  No one at the time had a clue of what just happened.  

6 [Humans picking up the mess building farms and repair homes]

6 Brad: Humanity tried to pick up the pieces but it would never be the same.  There were border conflicts and people claiming territories, a few colonies of people here and there but NEVER the same.  Like God or the Devil however you would look at it gave a spanking for the last 20-40 years of what humanity was doing to itself.
