Chapter 1: Brother's Legacy

“Hey Kira you like being the hero right?” said Kian with a grin

“Of course!” said Kira with a big smile

“Ok then I’ll be the evil villain!” said Kian in response

“Are you two still playing that silly game?” Said father as he opened the door to the dojo

“Sword fighting is to be taken extremely serious!”

“Now get into position, practice starts early today!”

The twins’ father had been a renowned sword master. As he got older he decided that to continue his legacy, his children needed to follow him in his footsteps. To achieve his goal the twins had been trained to sword fight, from the early age of six.

Training  with their father had never been easy. At the age of twelve the twins’ mother died. Since then the training their father gave them became longer and harder. When the training had become almost unbearable, the twins decided to run away from home.

Kian took what was left of their family’s savings and together with his sister they went to live in a small apartment. They had a month’s worth of cash. The twins continued going to high school. The students and teachers were completely unaware of their situation.

The twins both had part time jobs, to sustain their school tuition and living expenses. They didn’t have the money, to afford luxuries like TV and internet. The fact that the twins had almost nothing in common, with the other students in class made them quite the outsiders.

One fateful day the twins were having dinner together. They usually talked about their part time jobs and their compulsory after school activities. However this time Kian asked something out of the ordinary.

“Hey Kira?” asked Kian as he looked up from his meager plate of food

“Yeah Kian what’s wrong?” asked Kira as she put a spoon full of dry rice in her mouth

She knew that when her brother used this tone in his voice, it meant he was about to say something important.

“I was thinking… would you be happy if you could live like a normal teen?” said Kian as he looked his sister in the eyes

“Of course!” exclaimed Kira

“But it’s not like we have the money or the time.” Said Kira as she looked down at her food

“Don’t you also want to play that new virtual reality game, that’s coming out soon?” said Kian who was now talking quite loud

Kira tried to hide her emotions. She decided to change the subject.

“Kian why are you asking these questions?” said Kira as she looked up from her food and into her brothers eyes

“What good will it do?”

“We can’t change who we are and where we are now, unless some kind of miracle happens!”

“What if I can make a miracle happen?” asked Kian who shoved back his chair and stood up

“Never mind just forget it.” Said Kian as he sat back down

Kira was curious to know what he meant with that, but she knew better than to believe in miracles.

They continued their dinner in silence. Before going to sleep, Kira walked into her brother’s room and wished him good night. She was about to leave when her brother grabbed her hand and gave her a hug. He wasn’t really the hug type. So Kira once again asked what was wrong.

“I’m just tired” said Kian as he let go of Kira with a sad smile

Kira went back into her room and as she lay in bed she couldn’t help but feel something horrible was going to happen.

It was Saturday morning and Kira decided to wake her brother up. Her brother wasn’t in his room. The room was tidy, the bed made. Something was terribly wrong.

“Kian?” called Kira as she opened the bathroom door he wasn’t there

“Kian where are you!” said Kira as she ran into the kitchen but he wasn’t there either

Kira then noticed a large sized box sitting at the door. On the box was a small note. Kira felt a shiver run down her spine as she walked over to the box. Her eyes started to water as she bent down to read the note.

"You always loved being the hero right Kira?"

"Then find me."
