Chapter 5 Dwarf kingdom

Chapter 5 Dwarf kingdom

I open my eyes, and notice that it is morning. How long did i sleep Aterna?

You slept for about 10 hours, but as have you such a high stamina and stamina regeneration, you don't really need to sleep.

Ok, i guess i will do it anyway because it's relaxing. I am going to the dwarven kingdom today, guess i will notify Valenta of my departure. I wake up, and go down to eat. The food served is a kind of stew, Which is very delicous. I thank the old woman, and leave for the guild.

When i get there Valenta is already there, working in the window. I walk over to her and ask her. "When do you eat breakfast?"

"I get mine an hour before normal, because i got to job here. Why?"(Valenta)

"I didn't see you this morning, and i were one of the first to eat."

"Ok. Are you accepting a quest?"(Valenta)

"No, i am here to say that i am going to be away for today, so you don't have to notify me of a quest today."

"Ok. Where are you going?"(Valenta)

"I am going on a trip."

"Ok. Be safe, bye."(Valenta)

"Thank you, bye."

I walk out of the guild, and continue walking out to the city through the gate facing the forest. After i have walked a bit, i look around, and when i am sure no one is around, i take off my shirt, and morph wings onto my back. Flying at mach 3, is really exhilarating. After a few seconds of flying, i am really close, so i slow down, so that i won't miss the mountains. I land at the foot of the mountains and look at the giant rock formations. All of them are at least 10 000 meters high, which means all of them are higher than mt. everest. I look around the sides of the mountain hoping to find the entrance to the dwarven country, but even with my super eyes, i can't even find a small crack. Aterna, how do i get inside?

There is an entrance hidden behind some bushes 100 meters to your north, that can lead you into the heart of the mountain, where the capital of the dwarven kingdom is located.

Ok, thanks Aterna. I look for the bushes, and when i see them, i notice they are really big. No wonder i couldn't see the entrance. I push the bushes aside, and enter, i also make sure to put the bushes back to where they were. I also completely seal my mana inside my body, and make my body transparent. I think they don't exactly welcome human's or human looking thing to their capital with open arms. Well where should i go? Oh i got it! I will go to the king. Aterna, can you guide me to the dwarven king?

Yes master, the king is in the throne room in the castle. The castle is in the middle of the capital.

Ok, thanks. I begin to run at a really fast speed, and after a few seconds i can faintly see a yellow red-ish light in front of me. What i saw was the entrance to a big dome like thing, which i assume is the capital. I see the castle in the middle, and begin to fly towards the castle. I land before the entrance and sneak my way inside. The roof is really tall for dwarves, well this is their royal capital, so i guess i gotta be grand, and fabulous. Right in front of me is overly excessive big doors, which leads to the throne room, it is currently open so i can just barge in. I see a short man who looks like he is in his 40s, and he is wearing a red cape, a crown which is full of precious stone, and it's made of what i think is adamantium, he is also wearing a lot of expensive looking clothes. I guess that is the king. They are currently talking so i learnt norse immediately(Norse is the spoken language of runes).

"How are the troops?"(Dwarven king)

"They are ready to deploy at any given moment, my highness."(General)

"Good. Set up defensive posts along the foot the mountains, and change the guards regularly."(Dwarven king)

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

"Yes my lord."(General)

Are they gearing up for war or something?

Yes, they are. Spies in the human country you were just in, have reported that the humans are preparing to invade the dwarves.

I thought that it was stupid to invade the dwarves.

It usually is, but this time they found an ancient artifact, in a ruin, that let's the user completely conceal an unlimited number people, but it has a drawback, and that is the mana consumption. One person consumes 100 mana, and for every person concealed the amount of mana triple. Of course the humans don't know that, so they are recklessly using it.

Well, that is kinda stupid of the humans. I slowly walk next to the king, making sure not to make any noise. I inhale as much as i can, and... i scream into the kings ear. "HELLO DWARF KING!!!"

"Ahhhh!!"(Dwarven king)

The king screams, and the guards run to the king to protect him. "Who is there!?"(Dwarven soldier)

"Sorry, i couldn't not do it." I reveal myself as i laugh, and the guards ready themselves.

"Who are you, and what is your motive?!"(Dwarven king)

"Oh, me? I'm Matthew, or Matt. I came here to learn to write runes."

"How did you get inside the castle?!"(Dwarven king)

"I just turned invisible, and concealed my mana, and snuck in. Anyway as i said i came here to learn norse."

"A human is not able to learn Norse."(Dwarven king)

"I'm not human, can't you see the wings on my back?"

"Then what are you? A demon?"(Dwarven king)

"No, i'm a shapeshifter."

"What is that?"(Dwarven king)

"It's my race. Anyway i have already learned norse, but i will do you a favor, and tell you some good information. The humans have discovered an artifact that lets them hide an unlimited amount of people, but it consumes too much mana to be even useful in battle, so you should win the invasion pretty easily."

"What?! How did you get that information?! We only knew a few days ago, and i am pretty sure the humans wouldn't reveal it!"(Dwarven king)

"I've got my sources." What is the dwarven kings name Aterna?

His name is Flogur, master

"Well i gotta go now, bye. See you later Flogur."

"How did you know my name?!"(Flogur) I turn invisible and teleport to outside the entrance.

Well that was fun. I fly on top of the mountain, and settle down. First i make a normal iron sword, and then i write the runes for sharpness, and imbue it with mana. Then, as expected, a screen pops up.

Skill: Enchanting learned!

I max the skill out, and now i got 10851 skill points left. "Skills, Enchanting"

Skill Explanation Enchanting (Active) MAX LV

You can utilize the material to it's fullest which does that you can double the amount of runes without destroying it.

Well now to test out the iron sword. I find a big rock close by, and swing my sword horizontally. The sword slides through like a warm knife on butter, and comes out with only a few scratches. That is really effective.

Ever since i got the enchanting skill, i've been feeling something weird in my pocket area, where my guild card is. I take out the guild card, and discover that the weird feeling is coming from the card. I look at it, and notice a faint text on the back of the card. At a closer inspection, i notice that it's runes. It says 'changable text', and 'slight obedience to the king of solisa'. Well, that is disappointing. I erase the second runes, and write unbreakable instead. Aterna did you know of the runes?

Yes i did master, but i didn't tell you because it wouldn't hurt you.

Well that is okay, but can tell me next time something like this happens?

Yes master, i'm sorry.

It's okay. but can you tell me who put the runes on the card?

Yes master. It was the king of solisa who came up with the idea to do that to every S-rank adventurers guild card, so he ordered one of the few who is able to write runes, to do that, along with the guildmaster.

 Who knows of this?

The king, a few of his trusted people, the guildmaster, the one who wrote the rune, and the sub guild leaders.

 So Valenta didn't know?

No master.

Ok, well that is good, and Where is the king?

He is in the castle, in the throne room

I guess it's time for some punishment.
