4 - Item Draws

With the High Elf meditating in a corner of the cavern and the Myconoids in another corner rooted into the ground, I turned my attention towards the other 'Gacha' option I had available to me.

Five free Item Draws.

Without further hesitation, he drew all five of the items at the same time.

[Draw One: Charged Fusion Core]

[Draw Two: Four Empty Beer Bottles]

[Draw Three: One Gold Ingot]

[Draw Four: Potion of Healing]

[Draw Five: Nordic Carved Armor]

Interesting.

The bottles were pretty much useless, but everything else was useful in some way.

For example, if I could somehow sell the Gold Ingot, I'd at least earn a couple thousand caps, if not even more while the healing potion would be useful for any emergencies.

The armor was useless to me at the moment, and the charged fusion core, while could power the vault, I had no one with the expertise to hook up the core to the vault's generator which was out of commission.

The very little light that was in the vault came from glowing mushrooms and that was the only light that could be found in the vault, if they were to die, the entire vault would be in darkness.

Frankly, I was lucky I could see at all with my Spore Carriers.

Selecting the vault as the summon location, all of the items appeared with a flash of light.

Briefly looking at the items that appeared with curiosity, the summons went back to what they were doing.

With that done, I checked out my quests tab.

[User Generated Quests]

[Quest: Survive for one year

User Generated?

Does that mean quests are generated based on my goals?

Then what if I were to save one hundred or a thousand people?

Suddenly a new quest appeared on the list.

[Quest: Saint of the Wastes, Save 1,000 Humans directly

Quest Rewards: 25 Points, 150 EXP]

Interestingly, doing a few experiments, I found I could cancel or recreate quests, but I could only have five active at a time.

For now, though, I had only three active, Survive, Saint of the Wastes, and Master of Big MT, the last being quite an obvious objective.

First, I had to do a few things, I wanted to do an extensive survey of the vault to see what supplies and equipment I had available to me.

I'd also need to get better control over the Spore Carriers and check out how I could use my 'Skills.'

Speaking of which, I'd also like to begin scouting out my surroundings in the other areas too, that being Big MT and Zion Valley.

I'd do the same with the surroundings of the Vault, but I wanted to remain incognito at the vault for a little while, at least until I gain full control extensive control of my Spore Carriers.

At Zion Valley, I wouldn't need to be as incognito as the other two areas due to it being a valley where two tribes lived, one being pacifistic in nature, abhorring violence.

The tribes, even if they do notice my Spore Carriers, more than likely won't hunt my spore carriers down so long as I don't prove to be hostile, however, I do have to worry about if Joshua Graham or Daniel have arrived in the valley or not.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

One was a pacifist, and the other a warmonger who was a General for Caesar and his Legion.

I needed to learn the date desperately too, otherwise, I would have no clue about my situation until its too late.

For example, I wanted to know where or more accurately, when I was exactly in the timeline.

For all I knew, I could be as late as Fallout 4, or as early as the two classic Fallout Games, Fallout 1, and Fallout 2.

So, I got to work.

Two of my Carriers were sent to the vault door to guard it while the rest would watch over the summons.

I took direct control of one of the Carriers and began checking out the entire vault, gathering whatever I found and depositing it in the cavern.

In the end, after I did a thorough search through the entire vault and made of list of items, I came up with the AER14 Laser Rifle Prototype, six HEPA 20 Cartridge Filters, four AEP7 Laser Pistols, twelve Wattz 1000 Laser Pistols, thirty-two Vault 22 Jumpsuits, eighteen N99 10mm Pistol, four hundred and ninety-two 10mm rounds, three hundred and seven energy cells, one hundred and twenty microfusion cells, three damaged pip-boy 3000's, and one functional Pip-boy 3000 Mark lV.

It seems the survivors that fled the vault took much of the supplies that were in the vault, including all of the food and purified water that was in the vault, and as many weapons and ammo as they could carry.

Though if I remember correctly, they did manage to escape Zion Valley, but due to the lack of any other colonies, I could only assume they didn't make it far from the valley since no other Spore Colony existed, which suited me just fine since those that escaped ended up becoming cannibals.

Before I knew it the day was over and Ailwin was escorted to empty quarters where he fell asleep near immediately.

Meanwhile, the Myconoids also entered a strange state of sleep where they all were rooted into the ground standing up, which was quite creepy.

And with night, came the perfect opportunity to scout out my surroundings in each of my colonies since my little monstrosities wouldn't be instantly spotted due to their green skin.

Though their vision was terrible, the Carriers could at least see a little bit, only slightly worse than what the average would be able to see.

So, I started with Zion Valley, wanting to first track down the tribes and see if I could find any signs of Joshua or Daniel living with the tribes.

With the small colony being in the northern parts of the valley, I began traveling west along the canyon walls towards the even further northern canyon that made the home of the Sorrows Tribe.

The Sorrows are a friendly tribe and possess a hunting-based culture, rather than a warrior-based one. Their rite of passage reflects this; it involves a young Sorrow hunting and killing a Yao Guai and fashioning a Yao Guai gauntlet from its paw. In accordance with this belief, the Sorrows have sensitive and innocent souls and mourn the loss of everyone, even those that would seek to hurt them, like the White Legs. It seems they also raise normal geckos since many can be seen in their camp and are friendly.

All Sorrow tribals tattoo themselves with the symbol of the Virgin River. This symbol is meant to remind them of the suffering the tribe has had to face to reach the point where they are now and to show their lasting connection to the Virgin River, and, in part, Zion and nature as a whole.

There was even a ritual that the player could do that had them fight a flaming Yao Gui, a mutated bear, that was on fire and receive a unique Yao Gui Gauntlet, however, to access the ritual the player would need to have the Wild Wastelands Trait, a trait that allowed the player to experience weird and whacky events across the wasteland.

During the events of the game, Daniel was the one that led and taught the Sorrows while Joshua Graham led the Dead Horses.

Daniel and Joshua Graham were both New Canaanites, a society of Mormons.

From what I could remember, the strong defensive abilities of the city's populace allowed New Canaan to become a powerful force in the north, controlling a majority of trade routes north of the Mojave.

Rumors of its existence reached the Republic a few decades before 2281 and eventually contact between the two entities took place. The Republic, initially mistrustful over the religious nature of the New Canaanites (after its own experiences with religious cults), was happy to discover that the Canaanites were honest traders and good fighters, keeping the raider populations in check and developing a trade network.

In fact, learning how to handle a .45 Auto pistol was considered a Mormon rite of passage, helping build up a strong defensive force that allowed New Canaan to survive in violent Utah as one of the few islands of stability in a sea of regional warlords, raider tribes, and cannibals.

The expansion of NCR and the growth of Canaanite trade routes eventually resulted in competition between Canaanite caravans and the largest of the NCR-aligned trading companies, like the Crimson Caravan. Protectionism in trade helped Canaan to maintain an edge, but by 2281, they were willing to allow Crimson Caravan to open a trading post in the city, under proper taxes, of course.

The prosperity was not meant to last. Though powerful and prosperous, its days were numbered. The countdown started with the return of Joshua Graham, after three months of a harrowing journey through the wasteland. Graham survived being set on fire and thrown into the Grand Canyon.

Though he had effectively betrayed them with his former loyalty to Caesar, the New Canaanites welcomed him as the prodigal son, as if he had never left. Graham's survival was known to Caesar, who immediately began sending out assassins and frumentarii to track him down and kill him. By returning to New Canaan, Graham doomed the city, as it also became an important trade route and one of the potential supply routes for the NCR in the Mojave.

So, as you might be able to guess If the New Canaanites were still among the living, I'd more than like to ally with them, perhaps even save them from the White Legs, a tribe that would be led by Ulysses, a man working for Caesar and also a man I'd be willing to do anything to get into the good graces of and recruit if possible.

Same with Joshua Graham.

If I could recruit both or even one of them, my chances would greatly increase since both could be considered notable figures.

Enough about them, however, it was time to scout out the Sorrows and their canyon.
