The warm light that was coming from the campfire illuminated Lukes' small frame as he ate.
as it turned out, he had kept his prior body and physique, for which he was thankful. He had walked the plains until he'd spotted a forest in the distance, and had then proceeded to make camp near it. The campfire had been fueled by the few dry branches he had been able to find in the damp clearing he'd found earlier, and it seemed like it had rained before his reincarnation.
Reincarnation, he couldn't think of any other explanation for what had happened to him. People didn't just wake up after being nuked, to his knowledge, so something unusual must have happened. However much he wanted to find out the cause of his sudden relocation, though, there were more urgent matters at hand.
The most important one being food. He'd found a small stream and quelshed his thirst with the clean, unnaturally tasty water, so that wouldn't be a problem, but the only thing he'd found in terms of food was a rather bitter fruit, which he'd been unable to finish thus far.
Luke scanned the lush undergrowth for food once again, but couldn't find anything edible save for a few distant animals.
The animals in question were nothing like those of his own world, with great spikes sticking out from their brown furr, and what seemed to be blades protruding from their tails. They did not look like easy prey.

The animals had been edging closer to the fire for a while now, and Luke couldn't help but wonder if they were carnovores. Due to their miniscule size, he'd asssumed that they were harmless and would let him be, but the look in their glowing, yellow eyes told him that they might not be as friendly as he'd thought. Luke quickly stood up, dashing to the side as something lunged at him from behind. He managed to see a bladed tail dissapear into theundergrowth before he hit the ground. He immediately performed a roll, getting back up on his feet in seconds, but to no avail. The spiked creatures were already swarming him, clawing at his legs or, in the case of those who'd climbed trees, jumping at his face.
Luke did his best to shake the attackers of, but was unable to tear out those who had their teeth already buried in his flesh. With all the power he could muster, he let out a cry of anguish.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!!"
Just as his legs gave out under him, he felt something leaving his body, and as he blacked out, all he could think of was the lack of pain.
