The Tribe

It was a cool Autumn afternoon. The leaves were brown and falling, and the odd evergreen sticking out like a sore thumb.

Luna took a circuitous route through the forest, while she had no pokemon of her own, the trail was supposed to be a safe one.

Her hair was long and blue, and she wore a black dress, in mourning for her departed pokemon.

She had taken leave of her senses in the weeks following the industrial accident that had stolen her Machoke from her, but those bad decisions she had made had granted her something she had not expected.

When the Kadabra at the bar explained why they had refused her service, she was dumbstruck, but now, six months on, she was glad she now had something to focus her mind on.

She had contacted the father, a rather attractive young man she had taken a fancy to, but he wasn't interested in helping out.

It didn't worry her particularly. She knew that between her and her parents, young Kia wouldn't have any deficit in love and attention.

Luna looked to find the next trail marker, and after a few minutes of walking, had to admit she was lost.

Golden rays of sunshine filtered through the trees, and the cries of distant bug pokemon were starting to echo through the trees.

She stopped, and tried to orient herself. She heard the whine of a vehicle in the distance, with various voices.

As good a direction as any, Luna made her way to the commotion.

She rounded a large oak tree, and her greeting died on her lips as she took in the sight.

A half dozen men in gray and green outfits were packing paralyzed Cascoon and Silcoons into a truck.

Poachers!

One of the men spotted her, and before she could react, she was blinded and paralyzed as she was hit by an electric shock.

She faded in and out of consciousness as she heard yelling, she felt herself being thrown roughly into the back of a truck.

Her thoughts remained on her baby.

Please be okay… Arceus! Please!

She curled into a ball as the paralysis wore off, the bumps and sounds the truck made meant they were far off any trail.

The truck stopped after a large amount of time, and rough hands grabbed her and pulled her from the truck.

Luna was roughly pushed, and staggered to the ground.

Collapsing to the ground, Luna once again curled around her baby, protecting it.

A few seconds passed, and she heard the truck rush off, the rev of an over-stressed motor filling the air.

When the air was silent, she hesitantly uncurled, and looked around.

The trees were unfamiliar, and the sun long gone.

Luna closed her eyes and cried.

A feeling of warmth penetrated into the deep well of terror and loneliness.

“Rio… Ri?”

Luna looked up to the silhouette of a pokemon in front of her.

She felt safe, and when the pokemon offered its hand to her, she took it.

Luna woke up in a crude shack. She rose unsteadily to her feet.

Amazingly her body did not ache, and the bruises she had accumulated the day before had vanished.

She moved to the door and looked outside.

A multitude of pokemon, she recognised them now. Lucario and Riolu.

Lucario moved around, constructing shacks and stacking firewood.

A group of riolu followed the instruction of an elder lucario, punching the air.

Another group sat in guided meditation, glowing aura surrounding their body.

Despite not understanding their words, The lucario and Riolu wore their emotions and intentions in their aura.

Worried about not pulling her weight, Luna volunteered to help prepare food for the tribe.

The fare was simple, and she quickly found her place after introducing her recipes.

The first breath of winter arrived.

Luna was directing the helpers in preparing the food, when a commotion occurred.

A couple of lucario brought a tiny Riolu to the communal area, pieces of eggshell still stuck on its fur.

Feelings of warmth, love and congratulations filled the air.

Soon, the Elder Lucario arrived, and Luna watched as he blessed the newly hatched Riolu.

Aura flared, and the young Riolu’s aura flared in response.

Winter came and went, snow piling and melting away.

As the snow receded for the beginning of spring, Luna felt the baby more and more.

Her clothes had long since fallen apart, replaced with woven replacements that had become popular amongst the tribe.

She had started needing regular healing, Lucario helping her with the pain with regular [Heal Pulse].

On a particularly warm spring day, with the help of a lot of [Heal Pulse], Luna brought new life into the world in the form of baby Kia.

Luna sat up in her bed, holding her precious Kia to her, surrounded by her loving and caring tribe. She was the happiest she had ever been.

There was a knock on the door, and the Elder approached.

She hesitated for a moment, but the reassurance in the Auras around her soothed her nerves.

Nervously, she held little Kia out
