Prologue: Meet the Shark
She laid next to me, the envy of Aphrodite herself. How could she like me of all people, the monster. I was a freak if ever there was one it would have to be me. I had gills by my neck and abdominal region. I grew fins when wet, my eyes turned pitch black when I grew mad oh and of course I had razor sharp teeth. My rage was uncontrollable and wild, but yet still she seemed to have patience with me. Heck she seemed to calm me down. I am the illegitimate son of a Sea God. "An I love you" he smiled "Albina".
Chapter 1- Tyler, I'm a monster
(Friday Morning)
Tyler woke groggy, hot, and sticky with sweat. He remembered the girl next to him was like a living sun. He took a deep breathe as if trying to decrease the room's heated atmosphere. He rolled her off his arm gently, she stirred and then fell back to her relaxed sleep state. Her naked form was beautiful. Her porcelain skin on her back was covered in some ancient language tattooed there by puberty and the change all monsters go through. They glowed flaming red and twitched as if alive.
Tyler hopped out the bed and got clothed in a silent blur of speed. He decided to head out to the cafeteria, his stomach was grumbling for food. His feet cold against the wooden floor, that's when he realized he had not put on any shoes. He headed down the hall, the walls were draped in lavish fabrics colored in the most lurid combination of red, blue and purple and the ceiling lights were crystal chandeliers.
As Tyler approached the Cafeteria he noticed the halls were pretty empty for a average day at the academy. He entered the double swing doors and saw that it was crowded, noisy, and smelled of the best mix of bacon and syrup. He decided to sit next to Trevor and his crew cause they seemed quite energetic this morning. As he rested his tray down they all froze for a millisecond but he noticed it, they continued there conversation. Trevor decided to get Tyler involved with a slightly rough nudge "so Tyler how do you feel about this new stuff" Tyler looked up at him a lost for words as he nursed his arm. He huffed "its kinda weird especially with all this monster stuff soon to be pushed on us" noticing Marcia whispered something to Connor. He counted with four people on the table which included himself, he was the only one who had not undergone the 'Change'.

Marcia had blue hair with teal highlights, a round face with puffy cheeks, and a pair of fangs which poked out from her lips just a small bit which made her look cute. Tyler had once thought they were perfect for each other, until he met Albina. Connor looked through his curly brown bangs to Trevor with such a look of pleaded indulgence. Trevor seemed to give into it with rage clearly strewn across his face. "So I heard that since you might be a water deity's son that today would be the day you change" Tyler froze at this statement, Trevor said the word change as if it was to hurt Tyler.
"you can't be serious...that's horrible. I don't think I'm ready to look like a monster" Trevor smirked at Tyler's reaction.
Tyler had never thought this day would come. How could Albina still love him after she saw how monstrous he would eventually look. Connor seemed clearly saddened by the revelation as if he know Tyler's life was over.
As Tyler sat frozen Connor pulled a comb out of his pocket and began a fruitless battle with his brown curls to straighten them.
Connor had these brown curls that seemed to curl unnaturally and they never seemed to lose their shape. His pale skin was littered with freckles and he seemed to always be between two emotions usually happy and sad.
Trevor seemed to enjoy Tyler's silence a little too much, but then again he saw Tyler change before and it was not a pretty sight. Trevor put his arm on Tyler's shoulder as a sign of comfort but it just pissed Tyler off. Trevor noticed it and asked if he wanted them to be there for him when he did. They knew the change could be a painful and highly dangerous process. Trevor worried knowing that Tyler had attempted to force it before, it hadn't ended well leaving Tyler terrified to see himself as that beast again. Tyler got up in a hurry and ignored their help as he headed out the double swing doors. He had just ran out on his friends who were trying to help.
In a blind fury he dashed down the hall and hurried past a few people he recognized from his classes. He headed down a dark hall by taking a left turn. It had no ceiling lights yet it was filled with a dim blue light which curved all along the walls. As Tyler walked into this huge Olympic sized pool which seemed to be the source of the blue light.
The pool water glowed brighter as Tyler stepped closer, the water seemed to be calling out to him, he was in a complete trance and took another step and then the water became completely still as it felt his presence. Tyler entered the pool and began to sink but it felt like he was finally waking up. The water felt alive as it crawled around his body, he had always had trouble while in the water. He couldn't swim but it was a common trait for the children of Gods/Deities, they usually had trouble with their parent's elements until they changed. Three slits formed on his neck and began to open widely to reveal his gills, even gills on his abs began to form allowing for him to breathe underwater as it seemed he had been sinking into the dark depths of the pool. The pool kept going there seemed to be no bottom.
Tyler felt a surge of emotions hit him and then it all went black.
