Prologue: Land of Blood and Roses

Prologue: Land of Blood and Roses

The lands of Allasimeer are no stranger to war and strife. Her crystal blue waters often are tainted red, and her lush grassy fields are contrasted with the barren wasteland created by years of conflict. However, despite the strife and bloodshed, the continent is still full of life and beauty, where war had not reached them.

Amongst the major powers of the continent, the Empire of Konstanze; the Starlight Empire takes centre-stage against two neighbouring powers: The Empire of Francesca, and the Zlavian Federation. Aiding the Konstanzisch are the island nation of the United Kingdom. Fighting a two-front war against much larger nations, the Konstanzisch are at a disadvantage, however, the fighting spirits of the people have not wavered yet. After all, they had faced worse before during the civil war.

Many men and women across the country, rich or poor, nobility or commoner, from the cities or the farms had flocked to the recruiting stations upon the outbreak of war to serve their nation and fight for the Empress. For Amelia, the announcement of war by the Chancellor of the state inspired her to join up as well. Against the wishes of her parents, she departed her home in the port city of Karolein to apply for the Konstanzisches Heer. Upon medical examination, she was allowed to join, and this is where this story begins.

The weather was frigid, so much so Amelia’s fingertips were getting cold, despite her gloves. She slouched down on her seat, by no means was it comfortable, however, she was getting tired of sitting up through the entire trip. She took a few glimpses at the people on board the truck with her; most were asleep, and those who weren't were trying to fall asleep. Amelia had no luck so she was condemned to being conscious throughout the trek. She lifted up the truck curtains, letting in a breeze of air, to reveal a glimpse of the outside. Although she couldn’t see the road up ahead, she could see the road that they had already travelled. Noticing a few houses nearby, she sighed in relief, knowing the destination wasn’t far. The truck drove down a few more metres, and as the convoy passed by the houses, more and more curious townspeople peeked out of their houses to see what was going on.

Finally, the truck came to a full stop upon entering a fenced off-premise. Amelia’s surroundings became noticeably quieter as the truck engine died down- although the moment of silence wouldn’t last.

“Out! Now!” A man yelled from somewhere Amelia couldn’t see.

A few of the people in the truck with her jumped out of the back, to meet the man’s demands, and Amelia quickly followed suit.

She assumed a position in between two men, everyone was standing in a lined formation.

“Welcome to Elisinburg Military Camp. This is where you’ll receive your basic training; for 6 weeks this camp will be your home, so treat it as such!” The man yelled.

This time Amelia could see the man in full. An older man, somewhere between forty to fifty. With a well-groomed moustache and in full officer uniform. Amelia gawked in admiration. Some day, she wished she could dawn such a uniform, as a representative of not only the might of the Empire of Konstanze but of her own strength- Though, it was a long journey ahead.
