Curiosity was completely bewildered. She genuinely could not understand why the little spirit had gone out of her way to start spinning super-fast, when in the end, all she did was make herself flat.
It was like that time when her other student, Light, used a spell to make herself glow, so she could see where she was going more clearly… Only to use her spiritual perception anyway! It was completely backward, ridiculous, and unnecessary!
Of course, the true reason behind this hiccup, was that Chara couldn’t visualize a perfect circle. A mental barrier! Fortunately, she was able to convince herself that she could do it using centrifugal force as an excuse.
Without any further delay, the flying disc excitedly rocketed into the corridor. As if following a predetermined path, the flying disc swished and swerved, gracefully maneuvering around the myriad of crystals using long and elegant lines.
I am speed~!
Unexpectedly, just as Chara was nearing her first checkpoint… something happened. Seemingly out of nowhere, a portion of her mana lost its iridescent quality, changing into a different element, before glittering in an exhilarating light.
All of a sudden, the world around her blurred, and she could feel herself becoming quicker and quicker. Before she could figure out what she was doing, she had already blitzed past her intended rest spot, past the four crystalline pillars, and whizzed completely into the unknown.
Uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa—!
Frightened, Chara chaotically veered left and right, desperately trying to avoid crashing into any of the oncoming pillars.
She avoided an oncoming pillar. Because of the dim lighting, the translucent environment, and her extremely limited perception, she hadn’t even sensed it until it was right in front of her. Startled, she took a sharp turn to the right.
Consequently, she was immediately presented with the sight of two giant pillars. Using her gamer instincts, she just barely avoided a collision by swerving to the side, passing in between the two constructs. Regrettably, this abrupt maneuver caused her to fail to notice a third pillar stationed right behind the other two. Unable to avoid it in time, she braced herself for impact.
However, there was no impact. Instead, she permeated straight into the pillar before erupting into a crackling explosion. Before she knew it, she had already phased across the rest of its volume and exited from the other side.
Finally freed from her quickness, she slowed down and stopped. Scared stiff she nervously oriented her cone of perception to face behind her at the scene of disaster, her mana trembling in fear of what she would see next.
Unexpectedly, there was nothing. No giant explosion. No crumbling pillars. No collapsing cavern.
It was as if nothing had ever happened.
While she was contemplating, a river of curiosity had silently snuck its way behind her, where a very amused Curiosity promptly rippled into existence.
Noticing the little spirit’s puzzled gaze, the greater spirit let out a childish giggle, “Don’t you know~? As a spirit, it is only natural that you can pass through solids~!”

……What? …What?! WHAT!!!
In the span of four seconds, Chara had gone from confused, to surprised, to completely furious! Admittedly, she was partially to blame for her blinding stupidity. However, it also couldn’t be denied that the treacherous spirit in front of her carried at least ten times the blame for instigating her in such an evil and sinister way!
This curiosity spirit is a huge liar! She lied about the crystals being extremely delicate, and she lied about the cave collapsing! What else could she have lied about, and what is she going to lie about next?!
Chara felt extremely betrayed.
Noticing the little spirit’s rapidly diminishing mood and slanderous thoughts, Curiosity quickly rose to her defense.
“I never said anything like that. I simply told you not to touch anything, and then I told you it’s very dangerous. If you didn’t understand what I was referring to, you should have politely asked for clarification~!” stated Curiosity in a slightly admonishing tone.
Listening to the curiosity spirit’s ridiculous excuses, Chara was stunned silly. After failing to process any thoughts for the next ten seconds, she exploded.
You—! How could anyone be so shameless! What do you mean, “you should have politely asked for clarification~”? It was you that sealed away my ability to speak…!
Divining the little spirit’s questions, even Curiosity couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward. Not wanting the current situation to progress any further, she left. Yes, she simply left without providing any kind of explanation or doing anything else.
Being the naïve and innocent spirit that she is, Baby couldn’t help but wonder where Curiosity was going… Which is exactly what the other spirit was waiting for! By the time she realized, she had already curiously started following.
It was a trap!
Helpless, she tried to glare at the other spirit. She might not be able to leave, speak, or look away, but there were still many more ways to let the other spirit know precisely how she felt. Unfortunately, “how she felt” soon became extremely curious!
It was at times like this that Chara lightly wished she could be slightly more apathetic.
Soon, the pair of spirits had arrived back to where Curiosity had stationed the collection of diamonds.
“Follow me.”
Without another word, the party of two spirits and many precious stones started moving again.
Feeling a bit puzzled, Chara couldn’t help but wonder, Why does she need these?
Noticing her curiousness, Curiosity responded simply, “They can be used for magic.”
Magic…! Chara was super curious.
Sensing the little spirit’s eagerness, Curiosity giggled. “If you want, I can teach you later. Just know that it will be extremely difficult.”
Not one to let such a magical opportunity slip through her fingers, Chara bobbed up and down eagerly. I’d love to…!
Cute… observed the greater spirit. Still, although she had a good idea of what the little spirit was trying to convey, she wanted confirmation. “Mm… Just to be certain, this is your way of showing affirmation, yes?”
Chara eagerly bobbed up and down again.
Unable to hold back her emotions, Curiosity let out a childish giggle while inwardly cheering. She agreed! Yes!
Both spirits gazed into each other’s forms and simultaneously thought, Now that you’ve agreed, you’re not allowed to take it back…!
In this harmonious atmosphere, where both parties thought they had swindled the other, an unusual pact was formed.
After a short pause, the greater spirit asked another question. “Mm… Just to be certain, how do you show denial?”
Confused, Chara was about to rotate back and forth when she realized that she was a swirling cloud. Puzzled, she tried floating from side to side.
Unable to hold back her laughter, Curiosity burst into a fit of childish laughter.
Before they knew it, the pair of spirits and the procession of diamonds had arrived at a mysterious tunnel. Unlike the rest of the crystal cavern, this area was entirely devoid of crystals. Moreover, it spiraled upwards in a gentle slope, making it seem a bit unnatural.
After around what felt like ten revolutions, Chara lost count, she finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Boiling with anticipation, her mana couldn’t help but condense, like it could burst at any moment. She was finally going to see the interesting place!
When she finally arrived at the top, she was welcomed by a sight that could only be considered magical. It was a gigantic crystal tree!
However, before she had the chance to start exploring, Chara’s mind started to go fuzzy, and she lost consciousness.
