Chapter 11

Chapter 11

As he stood outside the familiar oak doors, the albino vampire couldn’t help but stop to take a breath. It didn’t matter how many times he’d made the trip for these visits, he’d always found himself growing nervous just before he saw his mate. Call it the jitters of new love or, you know, a nervous wreck.

Just as he raised a fist to knock on the door, it was quickly flung open by the dark-skinned younger male, the suddenness of it all startling them both, though Mizak more as he found himself on the floor.

"O-oh, Mizak, you’re here! I’m so sorry, are you okay?!” Evan’s honey-brown eyes glanced across Mizak’s frame where he sat, letting a hand down to help him up.

“I’m fine… though I can't say I was expecting such a greeting.” Once he was on his feet, he carefully brushed himself off, trying his best to regain his composure. Throughout this interaction, Evan couldn’t help but note the warmth the hand he was holding exuded. Despite touching a total of two times—both times their skin connected—it was impossible to ignore the buzz that seemed to travel directly where they made contact.

“Ah, yes. I was about to head to the kitchen for a snack. Would you-” Evan thought about his words for a second. ”Would you like to join me?”

“Lead the way.” Mizak stepped aside to allow his human to step out of the doorway, and the two made their way to the kitchen room of the manor. Several eyes locked onto their frames as they passed by, as not once had a visit between the two led them outside of Evan’s room.

Strangely, there were no other signs of life in the kitchen, with everyone being kind enough (or scared enough) to leave the two to their work.

"So uh. Do vampires eat regular food?" As Evan moved around the room preparing his snack, Mizak leaned back against the counter, his gaze fixed on Evan.

"Most can. My family follows a blood-only diet, so I can't say I've tried any of your human food. I think it has something to do with keeping us pure or whatever." He rolled his eyes while recalling his mother's words.

"So you've never had a taco? Or fries? That seems like a sad life to me. I'd never survive without my dad's lasagna."

"Hey. Maybe I can try it sometime."

"Is that okay?"

"It's something you love, right?"

"Yeah. It is."

"Then yes, it's okay."

Evan turned to find Mizak's lilac eyes flitting across his face before locking onto his own.

"Is there something on my face?" Evan's voice came out sounding almost breathless, the blood pooling in his face seeming to become a new reaction when it came to Mizak.

The taller male stepped closer, the two bodies almost touching, finding no power within himself to remove his gaze from the beauty that stood before him.

"You're just so…" A pale hand reached out to caress sun-kissed skin, a thumb rubbing gingerly against the soft cheek below it. "Perfect."

Evan realized where they were after what seemed like an eternity and gently pushed his...the vampire away.

"Ahem. Maybe keep that sort of thing for when we're alone. You know, in my room."

"Oh? We're going to your bedroom, you say?" The teasing tone in Mizak's voice caused the younger male to become flustered at what he was insinuating.

"NOT LIKE THAT YOU PERVERT!!" All he got in return was laughter.

At the Central Castle, Volak's mind was swirling with theories and thoughts, the most prominent being the memory of what transpired between him and Mizak just moments ago.

No. That could not possibly have been his annoying weakling of a younger brother. Not once in his worthless life would he ever dare... What on earth was going on?

But Father. Father's reaction the other day to his outburst. The man seemed to be... proud. Impressed even. Strange.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

That thing was not his brother. As he recalled, it referred to itself as a ‘being' on a series of occasions. Would that make Mizak possessed? By what, though?

All these questions and more were no doubt the cause of the migraine that quickly followed. Checking the time, it clearly showed 5:24 in the evening. It was nearing dinner then.

Taking a final look at the papers scattered across his desk, his eyes picked up on one word at the very top of the first page. Elheiner.

That's right. How did the 'being' know what he was after? Ah! Guardian! It mentioned being the Guardian of Elheiner. A Guardian was never mentioned in his research. Then again, no one actually had proof that the damn thing existed.

Was it safe to bet they'd never made it close? Was it correct to assume that every researcher whose work he'd ever come across had put their work on hold, never to be heard from again in the last 400 years...because of this Guardian?

So then, if this Guardian, this 'being' was so powerful, why was it within that runt? The boy was a good-for-nothing defect within the vampire race. for goodness' sake. Albinism?

He was not only paler than a blasted ghost, but light also made him weak. A DAMN LIGHT BULB! Why wasn't he chosen instead?

He hadn't a clue as to the answer to this, but he knew for certain that he would be sure to find his answers one way or another.

The eldest Nolva sibling made his way to the kitchen, and the people occupying the space upon noticing him bowed and left him to his privacy.

Twisting the knob to the door he'd led his youngest brother through, he found himself in that familiar room. Call it his dining room.

The clock struck 5:30. It was time to dine. So of course it brought him some satisfaction that his meal was already sitting patiently on its usual chair, waiting for him.

"And how are you today, pet?" He purred while stalking closer like a hunter toward his prey.

"My day was bleak until you arrived, Master Volak." A soft, timid voice replied. The owner of the voice sat with their hands on their lap, fingers loosely clasped, thumbs twiddling almost shyly.

"Is that so? And tell me, dear pet, what is it that I've done to have made your day?" Pale, slender fingers ran through soft, short locks of silver hair.

"Why, you've graced me with your very presence, master. Any pet would be overjoyed with just seeing the one who cares for them!" The answer came just as eagerly as it always did, causing a sinister smile to plaster itself onto Volak's face.

"You're quite right, little one. And for being so patient, so good, and so obedient for me, I suppose you deserve a treat. Agreed?"

"Yes master. That would make me ecstatic!

"Very well, then. Stand." Orders were followed immediately as the silver-haired male hurried to stand. Volak only watched his eager display, finding humor in his actions. The vampire then replaced the human by sitting on the chair before patting his thighs as a sign of a command.

"Strip." The button-up shirt the boy wore was quickly removed before being tossed somewhere within the room. A hand was raised to stop him from removing anything else, but that would no doubt change in a short while.

"Sit, boy."

And, like a devoted dog to his master, the human male sat with either leg across his master's thick thighs, hands securely grasped onto broad, strong shoulders to keep him from falling.

"Present." was the final order he received. In fact, it was his favourite. Tilting his head to the side, the boy allowed for his neck to be revealed, making the blood flowing beneath the skin all the more visible to his master.

Not another word was said before a tongue dragged itself over exposed skin and two pinches were felt at the base of his neck.

The sting lasted for less than a second, with a familiar, overwhelming, pleasurable feeling taking its place. As soon as it registered, a soft, breathy moan slipped past those rosy pink lips, almost like a gasp.

It didn't register in his mind that with one gulp after another, more of his precious life essence was drained. No. All the young man felt at this moment was pure euphoria. The warm palms rubbing along his hips and waist caused him to shiver, his hips grinding down as they assisted him in his movements. He felt as the sharp nails scratched lightly across his back; no pressure was being applied to their movement, but instead a ticklish feeling accompanied them.

Sadly, the feeling was coming to an end, despite leaving both parties unsatisfied in some way. The vampire slowly removed his fangs, licking over the remaining wounds that instantly began to heal.

"I apologise, pet, but it seems today is a bit of an inconvenience for us. Prycifica is to arrive within the next hour, and I must get myself ready to entertain her. I do hope you can forgive me."

The silver-haired male pouted at the mention of the woman's name but didn't argue with his master, knowing well that it was not his right to do so. After all, she was his master's mate. They were bound to be together by fate. Who was he to break that bond? As his title stated, he was only a pet.

"Now now, pretty, don't look so downcast. Would you like me to make it up to you later? Perhaps an outing between us? Just the both of us, that is."

"An outing? Like a date?"

"If that is what you wish." The boy rested his cheek against the pale palm that held it, a dreamy sigh escaping at the contact.

"I would love that, master."

"Very well. I will collect you from my quarters at exactly 11 at night. Do not be late or there will be consequences."

"Yes master."

"Such an obedient little boy."

"I will always serve you, master. I owe everything to you."

Volak pressed his lips firmly against the human's in a chaste kiss as another 'reward' an action that was more than happily received.

"That's right. You owe me. Your body. Your mind. Your very soul. It all belongs to me. Do not ever forget that.

Jason."
