I opened my eyes, it was morning already. I could hear my mother walking to my bedroom. She opened the door and look to me, seeing that I was already awoke she nod and leave.

She had done it for a long time. Since I can remember she does it, it looks like she wants to know if I am alright. My mother had told me how she and my father have meet but never spoke why he is not here. She was sad when she told me once, so I never asked again.

I get out of the bed and go to my closed to get my cloths. I put a brown pants, a blue hood and a pair of leather boots that was close to my bed.

My bedroom is small. One single bed near a window, the closet was at the wall near the bed and in front of my bed the door. I had a mirror in the bedroom, I could see my body perfectly. Red eyes with slit pupils, black hair, two red horn that are pointing up from the sides of my head. Some small red scales could be seen in my left cheek and it go all the way to my left arm. And to complete my look my scaly tail, it was 80 cm long. I had 1,40m.

I have a bow and a quiver and they are near the door, I took them and go to eat my breakfast. Mother had probably finished doing it already.

I go down the stairs to the kitchen. There I could see my mother putting the fork, knives and spoons on the table. Today the breakfast was good as always, we had milk, coffee, ham, bread and cheese. It was really good, she had a really good hand to do chores.

My mother told me that today she would have a surprise to me but I would have to wait until night to get it. Today is my birthday, so she is probably going to do a great cake to me! I will hunt to help her with the meat. Meat is really good, when we use some seasoning it get very good.

We had almost everything at our house. It is small but very neat and beautiful, we use the backyard as a farm. We leave in the forest because my mother can use magic and the humans don’t believe that it can be used to do good things. They are stupid, it can help you to do a ton of things! I can use to, she made sure to teach me everything she know about it.

We finish the work at the farm really fast because of it, we chant a little of water magic to make the soil moist and we feed the animals. We had some chickens, cows and sheep. Every afternoon I could go out to hunt, mother always permitted me to it, she scold me once in a while when I come home later and she is really scary when she is scolding me.

Today she said she would stay home to prepare something and that I need to come home at the evening. I gave her a kiss when I would go hunt and play, she always smiled when I kissed her cheeks, and it always be beautiful. ‘Father probably liked my mother because of it. She is beautiful.’ I had never seen any other human, but she is very beautiful.

I walked for some time until I got close to a waterfall that formed a lake. I had found it around two years ago and would come here almost every day. I liked to swim in the water, it is always cold but it refresh my hot body. Today I could feel that something had changed at my body. Sometimes I could see some smoke coming out of my nose or mouth. It annoyed me…

As always I could leave my clothes on a nearby tree. So the animals wouldn’t get them. I swam I little and found that something was different. I could see that behind the waterfall a cave had appeared, I had come here yesterday and it wasn’t there…

I walked there and I could feel mana in the air. So someone used some powerful magic here and created this cave… but it has an old smell… like it was rotten meat.

Looking inside I saw a lot of bones and some are so big that I would think it was a dragon one. Big head with some horn like thing on the sides of the head. It would be beautiful if it was alive. I could not think how big it would be, it would be scary, but for some reason I could feel some kind of familiar aura of that big skull.

Looking more into it I could see rust armors, rust weapons like swords and lances and some human skulls. So the humans tried to kill my father but for the sheer number they would eventually kill him… I counted almost 1000 humans bones! ‘WAIT! I CALLED THE DRAGON FATHER? But I never had seen him, so how I could tell if he was dead or not?’

I would ask mother once I get home, why I would call a skeleton father. At noon I killed two rabbits and with a little of magic made a fire to eat them. I took their fur and hide, it could be used to do some clothes. They weren’t good like mothers but I ate them. I killed them very easily, just one arrow on the neck and it was dead. I played a little more before going home near the evening. On my way I found two more rabbits, I killed them like the others one. This time I would clean them at home.

My mother saw me carrying the two dead animals and point to them. I say to that I will clean them so we could eat them at dinner. She agrees and enter to do what she want.

I cleaned the animal, cut their hide and fur like the others. I go inside and help mom finish the dinner, so we can eat. After that she shows me a cake. It was well done! It was one of the one I like the most, carrot! I ate so much that you would think that I would get stomachache but it never happened before. At the end we were happily talking when we heard it. Footsteps at our front door. My mother had a terrified look on her face.
