Chapter one - The Crossing

Chapter one - The Crossing

Death was a release for Henry Walsh. The slow death of cancer finally ends the nightmare for the young man at the age of twenty. His only enjoyment in life was reading books from the age of ten until his last days at twenty. To occupy his mind, he studied medical books that some doctors and nurses gave him to solve the boredom of sitting in his bed. Learning about the rare fatal bone cancer and knowing that the end was not far made him understand that life is short. He had only two regrets in life: leaving his family behind and having never fallen in love.

Darkness.

Why is the morphine not working, feeling pain in his chest as something wet keeps dripping into his mouth. The coppery taste seems strange to him. His tongue wets his lips as more dropped into his mouth for a while because he remembers swallowing the somewhat thick copper liquid. Whatever medicine they were giving him made his stomach warm. But why give it to him by mouth? Another stab of sharp pain made him gasp for air as if he was holding his breath.

His eyes flew open once again. The pain in his chest radiates through his body from near his heart. In the premorning light, the glaze of the dead man's eyes staring down at him. The man appears to be in his fifties in the faint light, as black blood was slowly dripping from his mouth onto his face. The man's head is bent forward, hanging in death. Lifting his own head only to bump against the other man's nose above him as he looks between them. Between the faint morning light and darkness, he can see a bloody bone of a person's arm sticking out of his chest just below his heart. It seems to have pierced the chest of the man above him. Killing him instantly. Staring at the black blood flowing down the bone and into his chest at an enormous rate. He starts to panic. He moves his hands to lift the man's cold face, only to see fangs like a vampire. In fear, he uses his strength that he did not know he had to push the man away. Only to cry out in agony as the man's body ripped the impaled bone out of his chest, tearing open the wound.

The large wound left a bloody opening in his chest to his back as blood flowed out. The body fell to the side as the light from the sun rose and bathed the area around. Gasping for breath for fear that he will die soon. A strange wording and imagery came to mind. He touched the man's body before realizing he was speaking and moving his hands. A bloody red mist and burning ash fill the air as the creature awakes for a second, screaming in horror and pain. Sunlight from the rising sun touches the man, and he soon dissolves away, leaving a red mist that flows into his wound, knitting his skin around the bloody hole. An immense explosion of an orgasm pleasure rips through his body as his wounds completely heal. Laying his head back, panting against something hard, he closes his eyes to enjoy the feeling of contentment after years of pain. Tears roll off his face as the feeling of being alive washes through him.

Ding!

The young necromancer has killed a young noble vampire! You have reached level 2..3..4... rank 10. Due to the amount of experience and infusion of vampiric blood in your body, you have been healed. You have been given an opportunity to choose one of four paths. Please choose one wisely.

Ghoul: a creature that can eat humanoid flesh to gather skills and powers from its victim. Victims bitten by a ghoul can become servants. Can evolve into a Ghoul-lord. Must eat humanoid flesh to survive weekly.

High necromancer: a person that can raise an army of undead. Can evolve into a Lich Lord. This is a more powerful version of a necromancer, increasing the number of undead they can summon as they level.

Vampire: a creature that can feed on its victim's blood. Can create other of its own kind to serve it. Can evolve into a Vampire Lord. Damage from Holy spell and sunlight.

Bloodmance: Is a mixture of a necromancer and vampire that takes the best of both worlds. They came cast blood magic. It can evolve into a BloodLord. Must drink blood once a month, can walk in sunlight. An increase in sexual drive and seduction can enhance themselves and their partners.

Lying there staring at the screens before him. Without even thinking, he presses no on the Ghoul. The idea of eating people nearly makes him gag. Calming down his nerves using a breathing technique that a nurse taught him. He stares at the three remaining screens in thought. The vampire is restricted to nighttime but has a long life. After a short life he had, it almost made him consider the race. The necromancer can be a lich lord meaning a bone body with no chance at love or sex but long life.

Looking deeper into Bloodmancer, he must feed on blood monthly on some humanoid body instead of daily like a vampire and do necromancer and blood magic. Whereas a vampire can not use magic. Bloodmancer can walk around in sunlight with minor or no hindrance. And can pose as either a human necromancer or vampire. Seduction and increased sexual drive after dying a virgin. Not going to happen again. Being a nice guy kept him from getting laid by a few young nurses he met in the hospital. Turning them down because he was worried about them losing their job. He realizes he is not on earth as he stares at the two moons in the sky.

Clicking yes on Bloodmancer.

Hearing, "a path has been decided when you awaken you will be a bloodmancer."

"Wait, waking up?" darkness once again descend.

The life of Wilber Henry Well plays out in front of him. The eighteen-year-old necromancer came from a powerful and prosperous clan of magic users. He was always considered the weakest out of the fifty-something children of his father, most of whom became elemental or spiritual mages. Wilber tested out to have dark magic and chose to become a necromancer. Everyone knows Wilber is a weak, scared little boy who jumps at his own shadow. The thought of summoning a skeleton servant terrified the boy. It was the reason he was at the boneyard at midnight. Besides being afraid of the dark, it was to pass a test of summoning a skeleton servant to enter the Magic Academy. The same academy where his parents and sister moms and all their children have gone to study. Failure to get in will make him a laughingstock and an embarrassment to the family of Wells. There have been rumors of children who have failed to have magic or disappointed the family only to disappear from all written records.

The life of Wilber is sad. He is born to a weak, submissive mother that is a healer and has a younger sister who is a powerful fire mage. The only people in his life that care about him. His mother heals him whenever he is beaten or helps him learn to master his magic. They both have been the only one who cares enough about him to shield him and his father. His mom fears her husband so much that she has to stand by and watch her husband disciple his son. The rest of his stepbrothers and sister only abused him, knowing that their father would not punish them. It is what made him into a person that is afraid of everything and everyone. They told him stories of horror nightly at his door. He was beaten and tied up, left in graveyards several times to be found the following day unconscious due to fear. Pranks are sometimes almost too deadly that he barely survives if not for his mother's healing.

The attack by a noble vampire seems to have been stage. No vampire goes to a graveyard to hunt for blood unless they are promised something. Remember the words that the vampire said, "blame only yourself for being the weakest of your family." Remembering Wilber turning and embracing the vampire as he fell off the cliff onto the bone heap below, aiming for some bones that were sticking up. Hoping to take the life of the vampire with his own death. In the last moments of Wilber's life, he did something brave, knowing he was going to die. He didn't plan to die alone.

Henry awakened from the dream and sat up in the immense field of bones in the boneyard. Seeing the sun nearly setting in the west, he knows that tomorrow morning is the last day to summon a skeleton. Remembering the dream, he promises to pay back every abuse to those who cause it.

"How do I know my strength?" Muttering.

"Say status, young lord." A young female voice in his head.

"Who?" Looking around only to see bones everywhere.

"It is me, young lord, your Bloodmancer system. I will help guide you into becoming a Bloodlord."

"Bloodmancer system? What if I choose vampire?" muttering to himself.

'You would have gotten a Vampire system." she announced.

Stun, for a moment, "do you have a name?"

"No, my young lord. You may name me." she sweetly said.

Sitting up, looking around, seeing thousands of bones. He shakes his head then smiles. As he thought of the choice, he picked.

"I'm going to name you after an infamous woman from Earth. It will suit your system type. I will call you Mary after Queen Bloody Mary."

"Thank you, young lord."

"Status."

My Charm is fifty? Seduction and Charm?' Pouring through Wilber's memories and finding a few thoughts of women in his head. But as far as he can see, this body is still a virgin. The only looks from women he knows were disdain or pity looks. Being a necromancer is considered low class and a cannon fodder type mage. Hell, even calling a necromancer a mage is an insult to mages. And the fact he is ranked at the bottom of his family clan, he is considered too poor and weak. No one would even look at him. The military is the only organization that seeks out necromancers. A necromancer can increase an army's strength during wars.

Looking around at the bones and seeing that the last third phase of the full moon, along with the blood moon that is at the quarter moon, will rise at midnight tonight, it will be his last chance. He can quickly raise a skeleton now but raising one in the light of a full moon, and the red moon makes the skeleton stronger. Although he is ranked tenth and ranks one in bloodmancer. Raising a skeleton now would be strong, but they would be weaker than a skeleton summoned at midnight of the blood moon and silver moon. Necromancers are hated because they can grow an army that equals to their intelligence and charm added together. Before transmigration Wilber was not charming nor intelligent. Both of Wilber's intelligence and charm were low. Until I had crossed over and somehow made my intelligence and charm merge into his, and the new class made me stronger in both. The unique strength of the vampire blood in my body made me feel wonderful.

No one in his family taught him how to use the level system, nor did his father allow him to use the advancement orb to grow. His sister and mother tried to train him, but his power differed from theirs. He ended up self-teaching himself. His mother and sister gifted him with necromancer books. He found and bought some books using what little money he had. He made it to rank ten in the bronze tier by using the books. The books taught him how to use spells. Slowly he became a necromancer to show his father how hard he worked. Wilber was always afraid of the supernatural.

It shows how determined he was to be strong. He never uses his power to strike at family members for fear of retaliation. He only bears with the pain and humiliation, hoping to escape it when he goes to the academy one day. Also, his father forbids him to summon an undead until he is eighteen, weakening him even more. Known if he disobeys his father, he would hat meet his own untimely death at the hands of his father, so he complies to his wishes for now.
