For the entirety of Simon Valoria’s life he has lived in the Valorian Domain, the last known remnant of humankind. The human race was almost wiped out over 1500 years ago. The then called city of Valoria was saved by a dome that has stood strong even till this day. But with the dome, came the trials. The trials have acted as a rite of passage for the Valorians since its arrival. So, for the past 1500 years, the youth of the domain have undertaken the trials. However, no one has ever successfully completed the trials. Though, with time, comes change. Over the years, the importance of the trials have been reduced. It's status, reduced to religious, and semi mythical. The undertaking of the trials has now been reduced to a tradition that goes hand in hand with graduation for secondary school followed by a race to see who can finish first. This year, Simon is graduating, and everything is going to change. Like everyone else he believes the trials will end like always without someone successfully completing the trials. One of the jocks will win the race for the bragging rights, and the usual student funded party. But little does he know, the streak is over. A winner will be chosen this year and Simon is going to learn that the world is a more mystical and dangerous place than he could have ever imagined.
