Chapter 126

When Daphne goes to work the next day, she is back to being an unfocused person. Once again, she repeats the same mistakes when delivering the order. This time is even worse than before. She makes mistakes in every order she has to deliver.

"Oh my gosh, Daphne. Yesterday everything was all set, but why do you return to your previous messy condition right now? No, it's even worse." Mr. Finns shakes his head. "Or, maybe you want to take a day off? So you can rest for a while?"

"Please forgive me... Mr. Finns... I won't do that again... I'm okay, I'll stay here..." Lowering her head, Daphne is busy apologizing.

Putting his hands on the waist, Mr. Finns shakes his head again and clicks his tongue in a perplexed manner.

It is normal if Daphne gets perplexed once again. Earlier she was very sure of the assumption that Stairmount did not kill his father, and he was forced by the authorities to do so. However, it turns out that it was indeed Stairmount who took the initiative to put his father and other physician-scientists into the Prison of Pathogen, regardless of the fact that he didn't kill them by his own hands and the real identity of the murderer is still unknown. Actually, she can even say, if Stairmount hadn't jailed them in the Prison of Pathogen, then the tragic death would not have happened. In conclusion, it was all indeed Stairmount's fault. Then, the most surprising thing. Stairmount is evidently different from the male characters she always watches in movies so far, who will beg their lovers not to leave them to the extent that they will give various kinds of excuses - even tell a lie - when their lovers are about to break the relationship with them. He even told me to make my own decisions. Everything is up to me. How can such kind of man exist?! Or maybe, I only get information about love relationships from the movies, I've never experienced it by myself, so I don't know the reality is all like this. In reality, all men are crazy! Impossible to be understood!

That is the final conclusion she holds so as to do her work quite smoothly on this day.

Eight in the evening. Daphne breathes a sigh of relief, she is done with work. She comes out of the restaurant, and she soon finds that George is leaning against the window, waiting for her.

"Hi, Daphne," George calls her, voice sounding pleasant.

Daphne soon understands what actually George is doing. "Hi... George..."

"Let's go for a walk again," says George.

"Sorry George, but today I have some business."

As Daphne refuses, her voice is firm and steady. George's smile fades from his face. "Oh... May I ask you, what kind of business do you want to do?"

"Cooking," Daphne makes an excuse.

"Oh, I see. Well... it's fine." George gives a slight smile. "The day after tomorrow, let's go out for a coffee, okay?"

"I'm sorry... but the day after tomorrow I still need to help cooking."

George gawks. Daphne's gaze as she said is firm and unyielding.

Daphne steps forward, and quickly walks past him. "I am sorry, George. I'll take my leave. See you later."

Still with shock overpowering his mind, George keeps staring at Daphne's back as she walks away from him, and finally, disappears from sight.

***

Far across the vast ocean in the northwest. To be precise, in Quartz Prefecture, Diamond Province.

Stairmount is musing at the vast extended of meadow stretching before him. This area was used to conduct health examinations for the locals earlier. This time the workers are tidying up the equipment which was used up, and the vast meadow which was once dense with people starts to be more and more deserted, returning to its true characteristics as a part of nature. The health delegation teams from both Jupiter and Saturn are taking their breaks and having some rest. So does Stairmount. However, instead of relaxing his body and mind, the absence of duty instead incites his chaotic mind about Daphne which once disappeared previously, now comes back and makes his mind tangled again.

It still reflects in his mind crystal clear, the view showing that Daphne asked him yesterday, demanding an explanation for her father's death from him. Now he understands the reason why Daphne has never contacted him for a week. Before he thought that Daphne was the same type as him - the one who can't be bothered when he is being immersed in his work, his interlocutors have to wait until he has been free from work and thus he will contact them back at that time. It is really out of his expectation, it turns out that the reason that the young woman didn't contact him is because she has just connected the relation between her father's death with him.

And for that, accusing him of murdering her father.

So, when Daphne called him back, all she did was ask him for an explanation about the death of her father. And not because of missing him since he is her future husband.

Right now, Daphne doesn't perceive him as her future husband. Right now, she perceives him as the murderer of her father. Who must be given the appropriate consequences for that.

Why does God arrange for me to fall in love with the daughter of Dr. Warren?! Is this the solid form of their revenge?! The revenge of those vengeful spirits because they have died unfairly, and now they are taking revenge on me?! To let me suffer and go crazy from this miserable dilemma?!?
