Chapter 3 : What's So Funny

A crow?

I tried to make an assumption as I narrowed my eyes.

But it seemed larger than an average one. Within a few seconds it had reached quite close, and then I realized that it was a raven, a big one. It started circling a little above my window in a large loop. Strangely it felt like its eyes were observing me, scanning me with a sharp gaze.

Then it suddenly made a plunge and landed on the empty flower pot holder in front of my window. The raven locked its eyes with mine. The behaviour of this particular bird struck quite creepy to me. But I didn't care much. Perhaps I was not in the mood. Or perhaps something was strange in that quiet summer morning.

Instead, I was feeling dizzy, perhaps because of the weather. I felt like I didn't want to leave that small room of mine. I had grown up there. I had spent most of my childhood and teenage years in that room. I loved that tiny apartment of mine. With that small window in front of me, it felt like a bird's nest which gave me an eagle-eyed view of the city, where I could observe the flow of life, going on seamlessly, without getting stuck in it. I felt frustrated and kind of annoyed.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I yawned, "It would be good if nothing happens..." I muttered.

Kaw! Kaw! Kaw!

The sudden cry of the raven startled me.

"Shoosh!" I waved my hand towards it in a futile attempt to shoo it away. But it seemed to ignore me completely.

Kaw! Kaw! Kaw!

I stared at it. I felt like something was wrong with that peculiar bird. It seemed like it had found my words funny, which made it unable to control its laughter. The crow stared back. Its silky feather black was shining under the sunlight.

Kaw! Kaw! Kaw!

It cried out again, annoying me very much. I was craving for some peaceful time to contemplate about the future, but the crow seemed like had no intention to give me that privacy.

It was irritating. I thought of getting out of my bed and shooing it off. But then it started getting stranger.

As I had mentioned before, something was wrong in that silent morning.

The raven again started its relentless cry. At first, it was like KAW! KAW! KAW!

Then suddenly it turned KHI! KHI! KHI! KHI! In an abnormally humanlike voice, but the weirdest part was yet to come...Suddenly it burst out in uncontrollable ferocious laughter.

HAHAHA ! HAHAHAHA! HAHHAAHAHHA ! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA !
