Interlude I- The Great Labyrinth Sekai
The Great Labyrinth Sekai sighed out in relief. And its veins shifted beneath itself. It toppled ancient cities buried within it and snuffed out the lives of a thousand different denizens. But it felt none of that. For its consciousness existed solely in one location. A simple stairway. Already, it felt itself fading back to the way it used to be. The way it believed it should be. No power as great as it should be cursed with consciousness.
But first, it reached out and met with its youngest child, Kekkon. The last of his kind. Never again would it create a companion for the great predator of blood. But its love for its child remained unconditional, so it listened.
Kekkon bowed with his face to the floor, apologizing for a failure. The Great Labyrinth Sekai knew better than to believe those apologies. Enough of the event had spilled out in front of its awakened consciousness that it understood the situation. Before the events transpired, the mortal sacrificed a piece of his soul to The Great Labyrinth Sekai. That established a link between them. Briefly, it even saw through the mortal’s eyes as it summoned the entirety of its power to him. It retraced the mortal’s memories to see its child’s movements and scrutinize his intent.

Kekkon’s impatience amused it. Kekkon released his piece of the generation out into the world, just as his kin had a decade prior. It could not comprehend the reasoning behind the early release. After so many millennia of existence, time itself meant nothing to it. But as Kekkon was the youngest of its children, it seemed only fitting that his Harbinger would reflect that youth.
Already, the Harbingers began to assemble. That pleased it. The task of breaking its seals was monumental. But since doing so would result in the happiness of its offspring, The Great Labyrinth Sekai wished for their success. Knowing that Kekkon’s offspring held the means to summon it when the proper time arose, it slipped back into its proper place in the world.
The sensation of feeling everything within itself returned again as replacement for its ability to perceive thoughts. Before losing itself completely, it listened to its other children spread across its veins. The other three pillars, still trapped below, begged it for its assistance. The dragons roared the loudest of its children, as they dug against their prison with claw and flame. It longed to help, although it knew better. They simply needed time.
Thankfully, The Endless Abyss was infinite. And inside every infinity, exists a circle. What was once cast down, inevitably will always rise again.
