Chapter 28 (Discussion and proposal)

Chapter 28

Within the royal school of visania, injuries were often, and death was no stranger to those that venture out through the undying forest. true it was known that many had died, and yet many still venture within it, to both temper themselves and become more independent.

Though some nobles might suffer death, none had the right to complain, it was well known that the school will hold no responsibility for the death of anyone that ventures out into the undying forest. Yet the school still holds a ground for treatment, a hospital of sorts. It was to help those that were injured or are suffering from diseases.

This hospital was situated on the top floor of the school’s main building. In one of the rooms, a loud screaming could be heard.

“How long is this going to last?” Said the lady of the royal lineage Lissandra.

“I don’t really know,” replied the headmaster who seemed to be weaving Qi into the body of the boy who was screaming from pain.

“He should have died a hundred times over by now. Yet something keeps pulling him from the rims of death to the threshold of insufferable pain, not letting him even rest in the oblivion of sleep nor losing consciousness from the pain.” Said the Headmaster.

The commotion brought many to that room, most of them were students that were chased away, yet the rest were teachers and health carers who came in. both interested and with a bit of weariness.

“I sent a message to his mistress, she should be here soon.” Said Lady Lissandra

“Good, however, it might be a bad idea if she sees him in this state.” Said the old man

Thankfully the black lines receded a bit, but they still looked frightening. So that the boy doesn’t get labeled as one of them, he was brought in while a cover was hiding his body.

“It is alright, at least he still lives,” said Lady Lissandra

“How are your injuries by the way?” asked the headmaster

“Mor or less alright. Before that thing attacked us, he made me a Qi and body restoration pill. All injuries I suffered were healed, and I have yet to fully absorb it. It was of the finest quality…”

“A qi and body restoration pill? Are you sure about that?” said the headmaster

“Yes, that is what he called it, I am sure that at least one of the ingredients is a moonlight butterfly’s wing and he used one of them, I was injured when I was fighting the butterfly and he used that to treat my wounds.” Said Lady Lissandra. Though she was unconscious while Basara was making the pill, she still woke up and saw that the butterfly only had one wing left which was later destroyed by the conflict between the headmaster and that beast.

“That is incredible. I am not trying to say that I don’t believe you, but a body and Qi restoration pill requires at least three days to become ready, and even then its quality might not be that great. The ones we have in this school are of moderate quality and they took a lot of time to prepare… seeing the Qi fluctuation in your body I can assure that indeed, the pill you took is the Qi and body restoration pill, and also its quality… is unprecedented… if the boy was able to make something like that… I think the receptarier’s guild will do everything in their power to acquire him… you must keep this a secret.” Said the Headmaster.

“Of course. Still, I feel guilty due to being unable to provide any help.” Said Lady Lissandra looking gloomy and sad.

The headmaster laughed looking at her expression, indeed it was rare to see a noble feeling pity or guilt towards a servant, however a royal person? This boy is sure is blessed the headmaster though.

“What about his weapon?” said Lady Lissandra

“It was too heavy… not even I could pick it up, I don’t know what monstrous strength this boy had to easily wield such a weapon, however. I hid it well, none shall uncover it and I closed off the Undying forest. one more thing, the incident where a teacher was found to be one of them must remain a secret. You of the royal family should know best.”

“I do, there is no way the royal school will admit it. A teacher as one of those monsters is a political nightmare…”

The door to the room burst open where a flustered and angered lady entered

“You!” the lady wearing a red dress shouted “What have you done to him!” she said as she looked at the boy in incomparable pain.

“Hold it, young lady,” said the Headmaster

“You need to know some things.” He added explaining the situation

Indeed, lady Akari of the house Ling would feel distraught finding out that her servant was met with an incident. She came running towards the first culprit she could think of. The lady of the royal family.

The motto of the house Ling was to never back away from a challenge and never let others bully them no matter who. Not even the royal family could oppress them. And thus she came. Knowing that before this calamity befell her servant it was this royal member that was last to contact him.

Once the lady understood the whole story, she felt both helpless and shocked. Due to her being the boy’s master she was entitled to know of the incident, and due to the background of her family, she was also trusted with the information.

“I can’t believe all of that happened. It has only been two days since we applied and already many things happened…” said Lady Akari looking with a sad expression on the boy in pain.

His body was convulsing, snot and tears running down his face unable to speak a word but shouts of continuous pain. His voice turned hoarse but he could not calm down. The black veins on his body would burn and retreat, but with every inch, they withdrew they would bring more pain.

“How long will this last?” she said looking at the headmaster

“He is recovering rather fast. By tomorrow the flashback should be over, however his ability to use Qi might be harmd, he may probably no longer be able to Assimilate Qi…” said the Headmaster

“How come he used such a powerful attack is still a mystery to me, yet it cost him way too much… without his help, I would have probably still been fighting that beast right now… or worse…” said the Headmaster.

“What did it want from Basara?” asked Lady Akari.

“His book…” replied Lady Lissandra

“His book? It is filled with nonsense, what would one of them need of it?” replied Lady Akari

The headmaster had a solemn look on his face.

“It seems that my doubts were correct…” he said

“What do you mean?” replied the lady in red

“This is something that many of you don’t know… but long ago, when the calamity struck, there was but one to challenge it head-on. A powerful being that stood against it. Of all the powerful men and woman of that age, all fell at the sight of the calamity, thus our lack of understanding of what truly it was, all but one. The same one that destroyed the Singularity of Jehad, the same one that wrote his name in history with blood and death that followed him… the Conqueror. He too wielded a book like this… or so the rumors said.” Explained the Headmaster with a solemn look

“You mean? Basara has the same book as that hero? This will cause a turbulence in the world if anyone knows of it” said Lady Lissandra.

“Indeed, your family included must never know of such things, why I said this to you because I fear that if you tell any of your family members they might come to this inclusion… you know full well why he must not be revealed or should I say it out loud” said the Headmaster with a serious tone.

“Indeed. Lest that he dies before his time” she replied with a look filled with complexity.

“What do you mean?” said Lady Akari when she heard that

“Don’t worry, I will not tell anyone” replied Lady Lissandra “I owe him my life. I won’t be so little to reveal his secret, however, he too must know that my family’s power shall not be handed to anyone without a fight, I shall remain silent on this yet he must know that if he ever dares stand in our family’s way, he shall not be tolerated.” She said

“Can someone please explain to me what is going on!” shouted lady Lissandra.

“The Conqueror… of the royal family, he was our ancestor.” Said Lady Lissandra. “Before he turned… to that… he was a normal man with a family and a home. Once he reigned supreme and defeated the singularity, he became loved and some even worshiped him. This place was nothing but a small town, with the protection of the Conqueror it grew and they elected him their king. After he survived the calamity and pushed it back. The people revered him and all took it to heart that the Conqueror is their rightful ruler. However few words from him left them dazed, these words are still told to every generation from the first king. The calamity shall come once again, a thousand years later, once the red star passes, it shall signal the birth of the singularity. Five years after it the gates of hell shall open and the calamity shall come once again.”

Taking a deep breath Lady lissandra then said

“The calamity that we all fear is due these years. And of yet we still have no signs of people strong enough to compare to the Conqueror of legends, thus this school was erected to create people strong enough to defend the land without the need of someone of old myths. Yet it seems that this boy here… if he truly is wielding the conqueror's book… rumors might spread, people might think he is the rightful ruler and the nobles might split. Some will try to entice him to take the rule so that they become stronger. Many will try to lure him to their homes, groom him then use him to their agendas… these thoughts might become of great trouble to our country, and I will not allow anyone to trouble father’s reign” she said

“Huh? I understand your fear, but… shouldn’t you be saying your brother’s reign? I know for a fact that your father will soon elect one of his children to be the next heir, and clearly, it shall not be you. Pardon the words, so why not say your brother’s reign?” she said

Lady Lissandra could only smile as she said

“Indeed, I feel indebted to father for raising me, and truly I would love to see him govern, however, if the rule falls down to brother’s hands… I really won’t have any will to stop him… no” said Lady Lissandra as she pondered a bit

“Hmm, interesting, right.” Said Lady Lissandra as a smile grew on her face. “It seems that if he truly is the one that holds the conqueror’s legacy… it might actually work… Alright, Listen Lady Akari. This is a vow I swear, if indeed this boy is the one that is entitled to the conqueror's legacy, I shall claim him as my husband.” She said

“What?!!!” replied the girl, while the headmaster could only chuckle thinking how truly blessed this child was.

“W-what do you mean husband? He- he is, euhh he is a servant! You can’t be thinking of him as suitable” said Lady Akari a bit flustered

“Oh, and I thought that you of the house Ling treated your Servants better than that”

“We do! We do!: but why? I mean no, what do you mean your husband!” lady Akari could only speak jumbled words as she was flustered and unable to think properly.

“Why not, if he truly has the Conqueror’s legacy, then he will be the one with the most influence in this world. Not even kings can oppose him, I better take the chance as long as I have it. Do you feel jealous though? You are a bit too embarrassed if I remember correctly you have a fiance right?” said Lady Lissandra in a teasing manner

“J-jealous? Me?! No! I have a fiance indeed, right, right… you can do whatever you want, I don’t care.. husband! Unbelievable” said Lady Akari as she turned to look at Basara

“And here I was worried about you! Humph!” she said as she stormed out.

The boy was still in pain, but the two remaining in the room could only smile.

“Lady Lissandra, your words right now you should know they hold a lot of weight. Are you sure about this?”

“I don’t really know, but this is the best way. Becoming an enforcer might reduce the influence of my family on me, however, they will still control my movement to an extent… becoming the ruling queen, however… that is a different story altogether. It seems that fate brought us both together. I hope that you can inform Basara of this. I will be needing to head to the capital in the following days, I will have to miss the first courses. I need something from our household.” She said as she left in a hurry.

The veins on the boy’s body began to recede, more and more. And his creamed became duller as he finally fell unconscious.

The headmaster looked at the snot and tear-filled face of Basara and said in a humorous way

“May you rest well, your highness” then left the room with a smirk on his face.
