BLEEDER, UNTIL THE MOON BLEEDS
Chapter 02: Awakening

Chapter 02: Awakening

As the sun began to rise, the boy slowly opened his eyes and sat up, fully healed and renewed. He was surprised to see that the wounds on his body were fully healed.

He felt an unprecedented surge of energy coursing through his veins. A sense of strength and energy that he had never experienced before. He didn't know what to make of this sudden change, but he felt grateful nonetheless.

After slowly rising to his feet and turning to look around, he saw nothing else other than the dead boar and thick wall of trees that surrounded him.

And the dead boar doesn't look that fresh to him. It seems that it had aged quite well.

A sense of unease washed over him. It looked like he'd been lying there for days, or is it?

He approached the boar and slowly poked it with his fingers. There's nothing strange in there. Just a dead boar, which loses its life.

That's when he noticed his hand. Which almost looked like dry sticks the day before, now looked much healthier. Furthermore, his physical condition is much better.

What is happening? If he had remained in this spot for days, he would have either starved or fallen victim to a wild animal. He was sure that was not the case.

He wanted to find answers to all his questions.

Why is he not dead?

Why is he much healthier than before?

Why is he in this place?

Where is this place?

Where is his dress?

And finally, WHO IS HE?

He was aware that until he met someone, he would not have the answers. He has to track someone down.

The state of his body was the one concern that bothered him the most out of all of them. It was odd.

He was much better than he had been. He was certain that he had not consumed anything. But his body is better in some way.

He heard noises rapidly coming from a distant corner. He cautiously disappears behind a tree. When his nakedness touched the trunk of the tree, it brought his senses to alertness.

There were nothing but some birds.

And he needs to find some clothes. That is his top priority now.

He kept following the footpath and was careful with each step. He made sure there was nothing in danger before he took a step forward.

Surprisingly, after a few minutes of walking, he came across a clearing of trees on the side of the path. It looked like someone purposefully cleared it.

As he approached the clearing, he realised that it was a campsite. And there is no evidence of any recent activity. There was nothing other than some ashes and charcoal in the centre.

As he slowly walked away, he saw a thrown away tent.

He quickly reached for the tent. It was in terrible shape. The fabric was torn and almost disintegrating. He carefully ripped a piece of the fabric and tied it around his hip. The rest of the fabric was in terrible condition.

He quickly searched the area for any weapons he could carry, but he couldn't find any.

He continued walking after leaving the rest behind.

He walked a few more yards and found himself in front of a large tree. The tree gives off an uncertain feeling.

Fruits were hanging from the tree's branches. Fruits were scattered across the ground beneath the tree. Birds and other small wild animals were also scurrying around the tree.

As he slowly approached the tree, they began to notice his presence and grew quiet. They watched the intruder cautiously, ready to flee at any moment.

He could fit two or three of the bright blue fruits, which were large, in his palm.

He slowly picked up a fruit from the ground, carefully watching the surroundings before taking a bite.

The moment he took a bite, the birds and small wild animals on the tree suddenly scattered in fear.

The taste of the fruit was unexpectedly sweet and refreshing. He was a little bit certain that it wasn't going to be poisoned. He wasn't hungry like the day before, but he couldn't resist taking another bite.

As he almost finished the fruit, he heard a sound coming from behind him, causing him to turn around in alarm. He saw a beautiful bird on the ground struggling to fly.

Though shaken, he approached the bird cautiously. The bird seemed injured and was weakly flapping its wings. He gently picked up the bird and carefully examined its injuries.

He wasn't sure what the injury was, but there was blood on it. The bird started pecking at his hand aggressively.

He gently reached for its neck.

'SNAP'

The bird's neck snapped, and its lifeless body hung limp in his hand.

He wanted some meat. He was actually looking forward to the boar meat before. At that time, it was too big and wasn't easy to carry, but now, with the bird in his hand, he could finally satisfy his hunger for meat.

He noticed a strange occurrence in his hand as he was looking for an ivy to tie the bird to. The bird's blood was gradually disappearing. Additionally, he had a strange sense of energy.

He had a sudden realisation. Either he or this bird is magical.

The bird slowly lost all of its blood. Compared to before, it was lighter and smaller.

His thoughts suddenly returned to what happened earlier this morning. The boar.

The bird looked the same as the boar. Smaller and bloodless.

He was now certain that he was unique in some way. He wanted to be sure. He wanted to find some blood to confirm his suspicions and prove that he possessed some kind of magical power. He knew that if he could find another animal or bird, it would solidify his belief.

He spotted some ivy, made rope out of it by removing the leaves, and anchored the bird by its leg. He tied the ivy around his hip, on top of the fabric he was wearing.

After securing the bird, he went for more fruits. He savoured the fruits with one hand while carrying some with the other.

The birds and other small wild animals began to return as he started to leave the tree. Unexpectedly, he was taken aback by what he saw.

On the other side of the tree, there was a white horse. Not just any white horse, but an incredible, magical white one. The horse was glowing as a result of how well it reflected the sun's rays on its back.

The horse started to eat the fruits on the ground as he was startled by their appearance. To get a better view, he approached the tree and hid behind it.

Without giving a thought to anything else, the horse is happily devouring the fruits. At that moment, he discovered something unexpected. The horse had wings that adhered to its body like armour. And at first it was harder to notice.

The creature had him in awe. The horse lifted its head gradually as it moved past the fruits lying on the ground.

To his surprise, he noticed something amazing on the horse once more. On its head was a horn.

It is twice as long as the horse's head. And thin and sharp. The horn glimmered in the sunlight, casting an enchanting glow.

The sight of the magical creature stunned him. Unexpectedly, a fruit in his hand fell to the ground and rolled towards the magical being.

The horse gazed at the fruit with curiosity. And turned to fix its gaze squarely on him. Its eyes were filled with intelligence and wonder.

The creature cautiously approached the fruit, sniffing it before taking a small bite. And once more turned to face him.

A smile formed on his lips. He threw the horse yet another fruit. In midair, the horse deftly caught it.

He took a step away from the tree and moved slowly towards the horse. Extending a hand full of fruits towards the horse.

In a graceful manner, the magical being approached him.

The horse reached out its muzzle and gently nuzzled the offered fruits.

'THUCK'

The ground was splattered with blood. He had the horse horn lodged in his chest.

''Ahhh...''

He screamed in agony. His voice echoed through the forest.

He started to repeatedly lash his hands at the horse's eye. He made a fruitless effort to shake the horn's painful hold off. The pain was unbearable as blood gushed from his chest.

'THUCK'

The horse struck its horn violently at him once more, seemingly even more enraged by his effort.

In a last-ditch effort to protect himself, he grabbed the horse's eyes and slid his fingers into its eye sockets.

''Arrrr....''

The horse screamed in silence. The Blood and tears began to stream down the horse's face.

The horse shakes its head violently, trying to free itself from his grip.

'SWOOSH...'

The horse's horn drew away from his heart, leaving a blood trail on the ground.

He collapses to the ground, his life slowly fading away.

The horse backed up a few steps and gave him a brief, bloodshot glance. Before speeding up and pointing its horn at him. With a final burst of energy, the horse charges towards him, ready to deliver a lethal blow.

He lay there in a pool of his own blood, his face emotionless.

He saw the sharp pointed horn of the horse before his eyes as darkness engulfed him.
