Chapter 0 – Prologue
_________________________________________[/p]
The forest was dark and heavy, with a thin mist covering the air and blurring the view. Spiders could be seen squirming, taking shelter inside the tree hollow as they waited for their prey. The trees themselves were huge, old and distorted, bearing a sickly odor of a rotting root carried by the passing breeze. The forest was so dense that the light penetrating them was but a mere speck. There was only one patch of light coming through, illuminating the back of a girl wearing a cape, standing right in front of me. Her sword pointed towards my face, slightly scraping my nose. I was standing there, backed up against a big tree, with a girl trying to murder me, and yet, Sylph was not here to help me.
I was walking by myself, confused, trusting only my instinct to lead me to nowhere. I was escaping from my pain, from my bad experiences, from all my mistakes. I had hoped that this was all a dream… That Sylph would suddenly come back to me, get all grumpy and edgy at me, and just laugh with me after realising how stupid we had been all this time... But it was just an illusion; a big, happy illusion.
After walking around for many hours, I had finally found myself standing in front of a huge forest. I entered the forest on a whim, and there I saw a girl hunting all by herself without anyone helping. Her movements were lovely, if not beautiful. I was entranced, and I quickly followed her out of curiosity... Soon after, all kinds of events just had to happen.
The girl stood there in front of me unmoving, showing no sign of emotion whatsoever. Her face were dark, with a red jewel placed right there decorating her forehead, indicating the sign of her being a player killer. Her gaze was that of a cold murderer, emotionlessly looking down at her own victim. her clothes and her sword were covered by a fresh blood, reminding me of the gory scene which had taken place earlier. Six PKers; Three high levelled knights, two archers and a mage were attacking a lone girl. Their face were contorted with a wicked smile as they were blinded by greed, having an ill intent to kill the frail-looking girl and loot her dropped item. The girl suddenly took out her great-sword from the back of her cape, unfitting for such a small frame. The hunters became the hunted. They instead were being butchered and tossed around by that girl who waved such a large, heavy looking great-sword around with ease, just like how you would wave around a butter knife.
As I watched the scene unfolded with my own eyes I could not help but to feel astonished. The movements of the caped girl were graceful, as if she were dancing, but brimmed full with power; as if a beautiful angel of destruction had descended into the world, singing a hymn that seeps into the heart of the believers, while bringing about everything into an end. It all had happened so fast, just under a single breath. It was amazing, unbelievable, and if not all, terrifying.

I could not move. This girl in front of me, every centimeter of her were plastered with the word “Dangerous”. My entire body was shaking, my brain was screaming at me to get away from her, but my legs were petrified in place, not listening to me at all. I had only encountered her by a chance, but it was as clear as day that she was going to kill me, if not murder me by stab or by slash. I closed my eyes in desperation, hoping for a painless death to sweep me away from the living. At least this was inside a game, not in real life.
I held up my hand, sign of me surrendering. I couldn't hope to defeat her, not with the state I was in right now. I had lost Sylph, I lost her because of my own mistake. My mistake, which had made her disappear. She wasn't here with me, cheering me with her usual cutesy voice, Getting all worked up looking at the squirrels, helping me whenever I was in trouble, scolding me when I did something terrible. She wasn't here with me, when I needed her the most, when I had much to tell her, when I had finally realized my own feelings for her. I felt empty. This must truly be my punishment, punishment for all these times I had ignored her, for not realizing the happiness I had with her, for not having the chance to apologize to her, for not protecting her to the very end.
Tears formed within my closed eyes. One second, two second, five second. I counted within my mind. The sword should have pierced me by now, Slashed off my neck from my head, painted the tree behind me with red, blood would spurt out of my flesh wound like a fountain in the middle of a plaza would spurt out water.
Yet nothing happened. I was still alive.
I opened my eyes slowly, hoping that the girl would somehow have a change of heart. That I wouldn't get killed and would walk out of here unharmed.
The small glimmers of hope then turned into a feeling of emptiness as I realized that I was acting like a hypocrite. I was blinded by the greed of living, just a second ago I was thinking that this is my punishment, that I deserves to be killed. I was being a jerk, I was being a liar, I was being untrue to myself, yet again.
I stared into the space in front of me. The sword was still there, aimed right at my face. I was getting confused. Why was she just standing there and not killing me?
As I questioned her motive the wind suddenly blew. The dense leaves rustled and patches of light danced around, creating a light show inside this dark and damp forest. All of sudden rays of light hit the girl, her face lit up and I could see them as clearly as days.
She was….. crying.
The girl clearly was crying. Her eyes were red as tears rolled down from her reddish cheek. It was all going too fast, why would she cry? I was speculating about the reason she cried inside my head as she suddenly opened her mouth.
Her word that time made me even more confused.
