Prologue

That was really moody day. Standing on the roof of the high rise building Jessica was looking down. People were the same, street was the same, buildings, cars... it seemed that nothing was changing ever. And nothing will change after her. Why was she here? What did she want? Jump? Why? Just yesterday she was happy student, who had lovely family, friends and her love of all time. But everything was destroyed in that day, people started hate her, just because she slept with Tom. Fucking asshole who was the future for Jess. She thought he loved her. No, love couldn't be so terrible.

Tom had made a video, video how she get naked, how kissed him and how started ride his penis like a whore.

She was whore. They all calld her like that in college, after seeing that video. And her parents too. Tom had send that porn her parents too.

And now she was there, and was thinking abuot jump. And she tought, that she will do that...

Cold wind slapt her. But that wasn't painful. It seemd that she can fly. And maybe she was flying? She felt herself so lightly. No pain, no panic, nothing, just peace. She felt that wind can throw her to the unknown. And perhaps that's exactly would be happen, if two strong arms didn't catch her. Few seconds later, she was at the top of the same building, from which she had jumped.

But now, she was not alone in there. A stranger was looking at her.

That was young man, with black, long hair, pleasant appearance and totally black eyes. Until girl was watching him, he took out a cigarette and lit it.

«Why did you do that?»- asked stranger.

«Who are you?»,- she asked fearfully.

«No one, just like you.»

«You cought me, didn' you? I don't need your help. You don't know who I am»

«And I don’t want to help you, I just do my job»,-said stranger, with easy smile.

«Wha..? It doesn't matter, just go away.»

«I guess, I will wait here, untill someone will come after you.»

«No one will come, and nothing will change, I've already decided everything.»

Jessica looked down. The building was really high, probably 70 feet height. Under the structure was gathered a crowd. Some people were screaming, some of them were trying to relax the others. Emergency had come. But what did happen? Standing on the roof, she couldn’t see clearly. It seemed someone was really feeling bad. A girl lie down on the middle of street. Lake of blood had surrounded all her body. It took a few seconds from her to realize… THAT WAS HER. What? How? She stand here, alive, that stranger saved her. Then who was that girl? What the hell is happening? Jessica turned around to the guy, , and looked at him with face that was expressing amazement and fear.

“What did you think?”-said stranger, “you would jump from that height, and would stay alive? I thought you’re smarter”.

“Huh? What are you talking about? I’m here, in front of you. You have caught me.”

“I didn’t save you. I’ve already told you, I just do my job.”

“WHO ARE YOU?”- Jessica were more terrified than curious.

“And who are you, girl? No one. And I’m no one too”

“No, no, I’m Jessica Davis, just a student from that fucking college, and I want to go home.”

“Jessica Davis lays on the asphalt, with broken bones and smashing skull. And she will never go home.”-said a stranger with scary voice tone. “And I just want to know, why did you do that? Why did you jump?”

Jessica looked to the horizon.

“Am I dead?”

“Yes you are, it’s hard to stay alive after what you did.”

“And you’re an angel?”

“You made suicide, there are no chances to meet good guys after that.”

“Then you’re Devil?”

“Oh no honey, I’m not that handsome.”- smiled stranger.

But Jessica did not smile. What now? She is dead. But she can think, talk, walk like always. Maybe there were some mistake? But no, that her body, she’s her mother crying and screaming by the body. That’s her father tears. Someone told them that their daughter committed suicide. And that were easy, without pain, she felt herself so safe now.

“Your life wasn’t sugar, was it?”- said stranger, “but believe me, that what waiting you, is worse than anything in this world.”

“Nothing worse can happen”-answered Jess.

“You just wanted to go home.”

“And there I would see my mom, how would look at me like a prostitute.”

“Now she’s mourning your death.”

Jessica looked at her parents. They were weeping. Why? Weren’t they said her to leave the house. Now she left. Forever. How’s that unusual, being dead.

“You asked me, why I jumped. You can’t understand my feelings, never.”

“Feelings? You end your life just because some feelings?”

“Yes, and there’s nothing to surprise. Aren’t we live just for feelings?”

“Feelings are temporary. And good feelings, and bad ones. Time treats always. Joy, happiness, love, everything disappear over time. Sadness and depression too. There’s nothing constant in feelings.”

“Are you a psychologist?”- smiled Jess.

“No, and let me to be honest with you”- answered stranger, putting out his cigarette, “I don’t worry about what you felt. During last weeks there are too much deaths in this city. I want to know why?”

“I have no clue what are you talking about. I’ve nothing to do with that people.”

“In that case, I’ve nothing to do here.”

Two huge wings appeared from the back of stranger, as black as his eyes. But he didn’t get to fly. A lady stopped him.

“What are you doing here, you’re not angel anymore, remember?”- woman was white and pale, it seemed she was never happy.

“ Well hallo beauty”,- said guy, “You were late.”

Woman looked like an angel more, with her white wings, but she couldn’t be angel. Jessica was always thinking that angels are the kindest creatures of the world. But that woman wasn’t kind. She was scary. She looked like dead body.

Woman turned to Jess.

“Come, we have to go.”

“Where? Who are you?”

“I'M DEATH, and you are dead. Your soul has nothing to do in this world anymore.”

“She’s lying”-said stranger man with laugh, “she’s not death. She’s just angel of death. And she will just deliver your soul.”

“Shut up, William. You are outlaw. You know what will happen if you start to interfere.”

“And I will never do that, not because I afraid of your boss.”

William opened his black wings, and raised up. He was dreaming about flight since when he was human. And now he was in air, felt himself as free as that cold wind. They are still there, Jessica and Fida. She was really freaky creature. Maybe she wasn’t human at all. Who knew. But William had never loved her. Poor Jessica, she will cross her last path with her. But why they still there. Probably Fida was still urging her to go. The most annoying part of that job. Why people couldn't put up, that they are dead. He did it immediately. When was that? How many years earlier? Perhaps hundred, or two, he didn’t remember. He was perfect student. All professors of university told him, that he would be the greatest lawyer of London.

And maybe he would, if he wasn't that poor. He never had enough money for living. Sick parents and unfair life were broke him. William started illegal lifestyle. Shoplifting, robbery, then murders and drugs. Easy life was absorbed him. And then that bullet. A fucking bullet in his heart. He understood that he's dead immediately...

And now Jessica, so many questions. There's no way to escape from underworld. The sooner she understood, the better would be for her.

Started raining. That was really bad day. From nowhere appeared that man, all in white. Will saw how Fida tried to tell him something, saw how he droped her with a simple gesture, took Jessica's hand, and they both disappeared to the unknown. That took few seconds only. When William returned to the roof, no one was there already. Nothing, just a white feather, from Fida's wing. Who was that man? How he was able to see an angel and soul of human.

«Something wrong with this city»,- thought William, «and if a human can see and touch a dead soul, that's really a cause of concern.»

The rain intensified. Crowd under the 7-storey building were gradually disbanded. Only a woman was weeping. No one could soothing a mother who lost her child.
