Labyrinth city

Labyrinth city

Deep inside the mountain range of the far Eastern lands, where not even wild beasts dare to set their feet in, there was a tribe, consisted only of elites among elite warriors. They were born and raised winthin this harsh environment where fiendish monsters dwell. Each resident’s fighting prowess was said to be on par with 30 grown men. This is probably also one of the reasons why they could survive deep within these mountains.

Surrounded by many tents and sheltering-purpose one story buildings, at the center of the tribe, stood the Elder Hall, where all the elders, including the Chief, reside.

Inside the Elder Hall building, 9 elderly men sat in a circle, surrounding a young man at the center. After about half an hour of being quiet, the oldest-looking man spoke, breaking the silence:

“Child, you’ve been sent to us by the Gods of this Chaos Realm, it’s about time you leave and complete the mission.”

Eight other old men also lightly nodded, their eyes full of trust towards the young man kneeling at the center of the circle.

“Grandpa, is the prophecy becoming true?”

With a calm expression, as if he had predicted all this, the young man asked the oldest men, the Chief of this tribe and also his grandfather.

If you were a member of the tribe, you would surely know about the Chief and his adopted child. It was a few years back, when the Chief descended the moutains and came to the lower plains to hunt, he found an unconscious child around the age of 13. Believed that this incident was fate, he brought the child back to the tribe and adopted him as his own grandson.

After 4 years, this grandson of his, who has no memory about himself or anything related to him except for his first name, has become a full fledged warrior. His potentials were said to be endless and viewed as a one-in-a-thousand-years genius.

“That’s right. The constellations suddenly changed drastically, I believe this realm is already nearing its end…”

‘…or maybe its real beginning’—was what he didn’t speak out loud, but kept it inside his doubts.

“Grandpa, why is it our tribe’s business?”

“As you’ve already known, we share one tenth of the honored War God tribe, it is our duty to keep the balance of this realm in check”

“…”

Not having enough knowledge about this world and the realms, the young man didn’t have any reason to argue, especially with his grandfather, whom he respects the most. If it’s a mission his grandfather needs to have completed, he’ll definitely head out and complete it for him without batting an eyelid.

“…though, I’m sure that the children of God-bloodlines will also head towards the summit of Ishvaria”

One of the other 8 elders knitted his eyebrows, saying.

Just as he said, aside from this tribe, there certainly are other tribes, hidden from all public eyes, that carry the bloodlines of God tribes, and it seems like they all share the same prophecy about the world greatest mountain range Ishvaria, where it was said to be the gate leading from this realm to higher ones. People of this realm believe that the ones who transcended from this gateway to different higher realms could become True Gods.

“If that’s the case then we shouldn’t lose to any of those tribes!”

With a firm voice, the young man clearly stated his determination to the elders.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Opening his eyes, he raised his body from the bed. Recalling what happened back at the tribe, he subconsciously grasped the black sword hanging on his belt.

Seeing the sun had half risen, he stood up and left the inn.

Walking the main street of this hectic city of Kiran, he was still a little bit surprised about how there are all sorts of different people living here. Though, it’s understandable, considering the geography of this city being right next to an ancient dungeon, where monsters and fiends reside in.

Going west from the far Eastern lands, the young man had to pass through this dangerous city in order to enter the rim of The Great Central Lands of this Chaos Realm, where the humongous Ishvaria mountain range stands.

Stopping by a general merchant store, he bought a few healing potions and a couple sets of canned food. Looks like preparation for exploring the famous dungeon that this city is known for.

In reality, he doesn’t have to go into the dungeon to reach the central lands, but the first day stopping by this city, he ended up deciding to pass through the depths of this dungeon to test out his own strength. He has always been the strongest in his tribe, but he knew there are stronger beasts out there. Just thinking about this mysteriously made his blood boil, excitement from deep within his mind rose up for the first time.

Thus he decided to break through the dungeon and take a shortcut towards the central lands. Of course, it’s only possible if he passes through the dungeon fast enough, but if something happens inside the dark dungeon…

“Thank you for your purchase, please visit us again!”

Making a light bow, the sales clerk lady watched as the silhouette of the young man disappeared into the crowd outside, murmuring:

“Looks like it really began…”

After buying a barbecue sandwich at a random food stall, he began eating his breakfast while heading straight to the western gate of the city, where mercenaries, adventurers and explorers gather in preparation of departing into the maze beyond the dungeon’s entrance.

*Omnomnomnom*

He was raised by a tribe of barbaric warriors, that’s why the way he ate was extremely rude, but nobody cared anyway, since this place is full of uncivilized adventurers and fighters.

However, there was another buddy that gnawed on his or her bread just as rude as himself.

Turning his head towards the source of these chomping noises, the young man found a short and slender figure walking next to him. In her right hand was a bottle of something smelled like orange juice, and in her left hand was one half of the same kind of barbecue sandwich he had.

Seeing it being a woman, the young man was surprised for one moment, but he soon shrugged and continued chomping down on his own sandwich. The two kept walking normally while torturing the sandwiches until the woman finally broke the silence:

“Ey, you new ’round here?”

The sound of her voice described exactly her overall style right now.

Old-looking armor with a bunch of scratches and traces of damage being repaired, messy hair and sun-burnt skin. One may not take her as a, cough, pretty woman, but she sure wasn’t ugly. The only problem was the fact that she got too used to this unstable life that she already forgot to take care of herself as a woman. This woman here told the level of madness going on within this dungeon city.

“…”

Giving the woman a quick glance, he didn’t answer, just kept walking.

“Hmm… Never seen you b’fore. What’s yo main weapon?”

“…”

Still not answering a word, the young man raised the sword hanging on his belt in a way that the woman could see.

“Strange sword ain’t it… Not big not small… You’re a weirdo ey?”

“…”

While… “chatting”, this strange pair passed through the busy streets of the shopping district and disappeared into a different kind of crowd of people.

Western gate of Labyrinth City Kiran.

A lot of people were forming groups and finding partners when a strange young man with a distinctive aura walked into the area in front of the gate.

Wearing a black coat made from leather and fur of demonic monsters over his traditional tribal clothes, he walked through the crowd without leaving any dragging noises under his shoes.

Following right after his back was a slender figure. People who looked closely wouldn’t call her anything close to ugly, but they wouldn’t describe her as pretty either. She had the usual armor on with leather boots and armguards. Also, it was a full body armor, not the famous “iron bikini” that’s usually taken as “armor”. You just can’t expect anyone to show bare flesh inside these dungeons.

Seeing this, the people around began to whisper to each other.

“Hey, did you see that?”

“Yeah yeah, it’s that chick.”

“Did you hear stories about her?”

“‘Course I did, hell, nobody doesn’t know ’bout her, right?”

“Right right, since that incident……”

As if all of this wasn’t her business at all, the messy-looking woman continued to follow behind the black coated young man towards the gate.

On his side, it was nothing different, the young man just casually walked out of Kiran city, heading straight to the entrance leading into the depths of the famous dungeon.
