Chapter one

Absolute silence of vacuum permeated the still landscape. Hulking shapes dot the area, remnants of bygone ages. Every manner of machine lay broken and twisted, from simple clothing purifiers to smaller but still sprawling starships. Through the quiet the bright flashes of weapon fire came from above like strobes, two ships engaged into the deadly dance of battle. The empire’s battle hardened legion enforcer sprayed empowered plasma along the side of the smaller craft.

Strange in appearance this ship was oddly organic in look and design, already heavily damaged the ship veered closer to the surface before taking a center mass shot vividly brit cyan liquid jetted out with electrical sparks and near invisible flames enveloped the craft as I skipped among the old debris. Breaking up before the front most tip plunging deep inside the surface.

“Centurion Filmuser, enemy has been taken care of.” Inside the fluted walls of the white enforcer, the hologram of Centurion Filmuser commander of the XXII division of century scowled at the sweating Manipul Captain Lemus. “So you’ve followed procedure and scouted out the remains for survivors yes?”  Captain Lemus gulped, “Nn-oo Centurion the Invader’s ship is in pieces on a vacuum mo-“  “Did I ask you the Barbarian’s ship condition Captain?”

Lemus stammered as he gulped saying “No Filmuser, but the moons in a vacuum so no one could-,” “You forget yourself “Captain”, maybe you’ve been away from the capital too long. Perhaps a stay as a gladiator would help you to remember you place.”

No Centurion Filmuser, that’s not necessary we will search the hole area imminently.” Holding a salute, Lemus waiting hoping for mercy.” Filmuser looked at the Manipul Captain with disgust as he looked away. “It would waste too much of my time to through your pitiful existence to die in the sands of the coliseum. You have till next Cronus to report your success do not disappoint me.” “But Centurion!” without sparing the time to hear Filmuser clicked off the leaving Captain Lemus Talking to the bridge wall. Stepping forward one of the Captain’s subordinate, “Captain, should we send out the scouts now?” Without looking Lemus strikes the soldier with the back of his glove. “Go.” The soldier took the hit, blood running down his slit lip and nose. “At once Manipol.”

Deep inside the moon, inside a cavern untouched by living beings lay a vacuum suited form of a type not seen in more than a few Millennia. Dripping from the ceiling was the cyan glowing liquid spreading over the suit leaking between the seals and panels. A flurry of lights flash over the suit as ever component lights up before a spray of sparks and magic blue smoke leaks out, some of the ancient electronic. Sun bleached leds lit as the iris of the helmets cam jerked to active trying to focus.

Coming into focus the being realized its existence, fragmented memories of places and things that it didn’t understand flashed by. Only a sense of self really taking root, with its vision filled with static occasionally flickering in and out. Though the blue screen filling most of its vision.

Another burst of sparks and traces near the SSD and processors connect as solder flow together forming an unintended bridge.

What’s going on where am I, and better yet who am I?  The iris focused seeing the crumbly rock ceiling of the cavern around the blue screen in front of it. Slowly the screen dissipated away leaving the new being alone and lonely.

Taking stock, the being was taken aback as multiable lines of texts scrolled down its vision warning of missing components and damage. It really seemed like it was in deep shit, in the top right of its vision was three bars of different colors, two of them blinking almost empty. As it watches without understanding the bar labeled Charge dropped another tick.
