Chapter 1: Wheels go round

Chapter 1: Wheels go round

The following days, we went out to the park.

It was our favourite place to go.

There were many food stands, wide open space, a bike rental...

Also, in the middle of the huge park is a lake. And there, we can go fishing.

You could also ride boats.

Other reasons we would go here is to have a picnic and watch the dancing fountains.

These dancing fountains is part of the park where, on the grassy area a certain circular area covered with beautiful tiles hid multiple fountains. These fountains were numerous but neatly arranged and set to go off at different time intervals. When you're lucky, you could see the fountains dance from start to finish.

How this works is that the hidden fountains will fire a spray of water like a hose. And this goes quite high up if you ask me. Obviously, these sprays of water aren't constant and may pause from time to time, or maybe even fire like a machine-gun. Hence the name, dancing fountains.

It is especially beautiful when it is night time and the lamposts in the vicinity light up, and the lights from the distant buildings in the background colour the night.

Another thing about this park is that there are tennis courts here, as well as basketball, volleyball, and table tennis as well. But the rule is that you bring your own equipment.

Yes, even for table tennis.

The tables are there but you have to bring the net, the paddles, and as well as the ball.

So if it's for basket ball, you bring a basketball. Volleyball, a volleyball. Tennis, a softball and two rackets. They even have a small golf area here, but nonetheless still big enough for a few relaxing rounds.

I would still prefer table tennis though... personally.

But for now, as for the reason we're here this time is that we're gonna do a project. Not for school but just for fun. The project involves filming, where the theme is centered around an individual who fell in love with a girl.

But since Alex wasn't much of a fan of good endings, there was a twist. This girl that he fell in love with wanted to maybe quit college and become a sister. The boy became conflicted but believed in his heart.

And so, the day finally came where the girl becomes a sister and the boy follows, where he becomes a missionary. A brother so to speak. But the girl did not know of this so they just went ahead and vowed themselves to God.

A few years went by and the boy became a priest, which was impressive by the way and the girl kind of learned of this and was surprised because she thought he was still learning at a university. She got in contact with some friends from before and talked about it.

That's where she found out that he actually followed her. She became moved and kind of fell in love.

A few years again and they finally meet. The girl felt complicated but the boy felt indifferent. Although he was happy to see her and still held on to that feeling of love. He still vowed to God.

Well there may have been some priests out there that have wives but that's not the case for the boy. Because now, he is a bishop and steadily making his way to become an arch bishop. Many were impressed by this and were inspired. They were impressed that such a young person could climb the ranks so quickly.

It may have been a stroke of luck or maybe an event of some sort, but he was finally recognized by the church. He worked hard to have gotten this far and he was proud of himself.

But this is where the problem starts.

The girl who reunited with the boy, started working with him more often. They do their morning prayers, do masses and preach the word. And during the time spent like this, she grew ever more attached to him. Also accepting this feeling of love towards him and even becoming a bit more open about it.

The boy didn't mind at first but at some point it was getting annoying. I mean, he still loves her, the same feeling that's been radiating from her recently, but still... she's becoming a nuisance.

'Sooo watch as she struggles to convince the boy and find a way to get him to return her feelings.'

Along those lines.

What's more, Alex even added another twist at the ending. It is where the young arch bishop is going to encounter a certain acquaintance of his from before.

'Will this person change the heart of the arch bishop?!' Alex went on like this and is most likely already planning the sequel.

So that's kind of the gist of the plot we're planning to do.

Oh, and just so you know I'm the cameraman.

We decided to do our shooting in various places and we already shot in some of them. And now we're at the part where the girl tries to spend some quality time with the boy who's still a bishop and not yet an arch bishop.

We were near the lake as Alex thought it was appropriate. But behind us is where the bike rental is and a place to ride said bikes as well. This is also the place where we encountered that girl from before as well.

But first, let me talk about the park. Again.

But more specific this time. I mentioned before all that's in the park but this time I'll tell where all that is. First is the lake. It's in the center of the park and has a peculiar shape. Like a peanut.

The bike rental that was behind us was north of the lake. Towards the west are the courts. South of that is the golf area. We... don't really go there but Alex seems to be planning to. Of course with the group.

Next are the foodstands and dancing fountains.

Well, these are actually scattered around the park.

Now, towards the south east is a little forested area. Not many go there 'cause it might be dangerous and that there are some ghost rumours about that place.

Not that I believe in any but, in my opinion, I would like to have an encounter with a ghost. You know, just wave your hand and say hello.. I mean, they could be nice ghosts right?

Well anyways, we were currently filming and to my surprise, our stars are really great actors.

“Erica... please. I'm thinking about some things right now..” The bishop said.

“But...”

We continued filming while Alex was directing us. She would cut from time to time then we'd redo that particular scene. We kept filming until Alex stopped all of a sudden as if something distracted her.

The rest of us looked at each other then looked towards where Alex was looking.

And we all widened our eyes.

The girl from before was back again but this time... she was literally standing on the bike's seat as she outstretched her arms sideward as if she were walking on a tight rope. She then made a turn using her feet and the bike turned as if obeying her.

The bike was the same as before. Red with white stripes and black handles. I think I could also make out the numbers '45' as well.

But looking at her doing that without a care for the world was breath taking. I even forgot to stop the recording a bit. So I stopped it and started recording again. Only this time, the point of interest is the girl.

Last time she wore a hoodie and some shorts. Now, it was a really loose black shirt with some stars on it, and fitted jeans. She seemed to be wearing the same ankle high converse as last time.

She turned again and zig-zagged a bit. Then she crouched whilst her feet were still on the seat.

Then she jumped.

The bike jumped as well, so she took the opportunity and sat on the seat and rode the bike normally.

She then kept riding until she finally decided to leave. So she took the bike and went on her merry way.

Of course, my friends and I watched her 'til the very end.

“Wooow!!” Alex exclaimed. “That was amazing! Alright! After this, we're going biking!”

Well someone got excited. But I wouldn't blame her, since it seems like everyone's raring to go as well. That goes without saying that I'm in for it too.

“If you guys want I could pay for the bikes?” Jasmine suggested.

To this everyone smiled.

“Don't mind us Jasmine!”

“We'll pay for our own. Right?”

“Yeah, yeah! You're too kind!”

The boys and girls responded as they made they're way towards the bike rental.

To this, Jasmine just scratched her cheek and gave her own wry smile.

Well, to me, I'd also say the same. I mean, Jasmine is not just the kindest person in our class, but she's also the smartest. Always taking the top seat when it comes to academics. And to attest for her kindness, she would even bring out some spontaneous gifts and just give it away. And some of those were really expensive, mind you.

“HEY! Where do you think you're going?” Alex pointed this cone thing at them.

“To the bike rental?”

“I said AFTER the filming! Now get to your places people! We'll finish this as fast as possible!” She said as she pumped her fist into the sky.

“Righttt.” They said as the pumped their fists as well, albeit less energetic than Alex.

After a while, Alex just decided to postpone the filming, since everyone wanted to bike and wasn't giving their all into acting and supporting. But she wasn't really mad at us since she too felt the same way after watching that girl ride her bike.

So, we went and fixed the place up and rented our own bikes. After getting their bikes, they went and rode them in ways they think could match the girl. And failed. So they just decided to ride the bike normally. As for me, I'm still struggling to turn the bike.

“Come on! You can do it!” Jasmine cheered me on as I pedaled the bike.

Ignoring her cheering, I just tried to turn the bike without falling. And well, to be honest, I'm kind of getting the hang of it.

Okay, I was joking. I'm terrible. Even after quite a while, I'm still struggling to turn the bike.

Oh, but I can't say that that I wasn't having fun. Quite the opposite really. Even though I'm failing miserably at this, it was quite thrilling.

My friends and I just kept fooling around like this for a while and before we knew it the sun was starting to set. So we decided to call it a day and go home.

“Bye!”

“See you guys tomorrow.”

“We should do this more often!”

“But we do, don't we? I mean, because of Alex.”

But even though we kept saying 'bye-bye' and 'see ya', we continued talking for a few minutes before we actually dispersed.

“Man, today was tiring...” I said as I let out a yawn.

“Tell me about. I mean, who would've thought it would be so hard to teach you how to turn?” Alex let out a yawn of her own.

“But you have to admit it wasn't as hard as it was when you taught me right?” Jasmine said with a hint of pride.

“That's not something you should boast about.” Alex looked at her with half-opened eyes.

As the group dispersed, Alex, Jasmine, and I walked towards school. And from there, say our farewells and go home. But since Alex and Jasmine live close to eachother, they usually go home together. Actually... not usually but always.

You see, we've been friends for as long as I could remember. And our group, just like any other group, is just your average group that can be found anywhere. There's that one in the group who's smart. The one in the group who tries to make every moment fun. And that one in the group who's an idiot.

That's me. :P

But hey, we got along well and that's what matters. So ever since then we sort of, for some reason, went to the same nursery, elementary school, and now high school. Which I think is not coincidental but because we live in the same neighborhood.

Heading towards our school, we kept chatting until we got to the gates.

Even though we went here, we did not actually start the semester yet. In fact, the last semester just ended, so my friends and I decided to fool around.

I said we were college students, but that didn't mean we were taking classes yet right?

So we head on over to the gates and made some plans for tomorrow.

“It was fun today. Should we do this again tomorrow?” Jasmine asked.

“NO.” Alex said firmly.

We were a bit surprised but what she said next just made us smile.

“We didn't finish filming yet! There's like 20% left needed to be done!” Alex pouted.

So from there, they started texting a bunch of our friends for the plans tomorrow. Me? Oh well I don't have a phone (rolls eyes). I have an alarm. And it's pretty good too. It's an iphone 5s. You can keep a bunch of alarms there instead of just one.

And of course those random alarms that go off when certain somebodies decided to send you a text asking for meaningless stuff.

Which annoys me really. I mean, they I know I don't load my phone and now my sim card seems to have been cut off. Meaning, I wouldn't be able to answer them back.

But they still do it.

And by 'they', I mean Jasmine and Alex.

I even remember this one time Alex sent me a text around one o'clock in the morning. And when I read it, it said 'Did u wke up? Gud. I'll snd nther meaningless txt at 3:00. Jst coz I'm unli till 6:00. :P Sweet dreams~' and then after that a bunch of smilies.

I hated the fact she spelled meaningless right while the rest weren't.

And by three o'clock, she really did send another message. And when I decided to ignore it, she went ahead and blasted a machine-gun. I received 38 text messages in under one minute.

If there was a world record for text messages sent in under a minute, she just won it. And no, the texts she sent weren't just single letters and numbers then sent immediately. No. The messages were actually constructive.

And if you read all 38 messages, it would look like an essay all about how it was dreadful how one could ignore a text. It was written in the most dramatic and sarcastic way possible, and even had references like 'to read? Or, not to read...?'. But of course, it's sent via cellphone. Sooo...

'To rd? Or, nt to rd...?'

And at the end, it said 'u jst read the ntire thng huh? XD'. Ugh, I keep getting a migraine just remembering about it.

Well anyways, after sending a text to related friends. We finally said our farewells and separated.

“Bye~”

“Buh-bye~”

“Yeah.”

And so, we walked opposite directions. Well obviously since we were on the road in front of the gate, and a road only had two directions and well... nevermind.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

As I walked home, I thought about what to bring tomorrow. Well for starters, my camera since I'm the cameraman, and some snacks. Snacks for me and not my friends. 'Cause once you bring it out, their eyes will be glued to it. They may not be looking directly towards it, but you know it's in their line of sight. You just know. And when you offer some to just one of them, you'll suddenly realize they've surrounded you.

Sooo to prevent that from happening, the snacks I bring are not those that can be shared by many. And they are...

Cookies! (Yeeeah, that's right! Cookies!!) Those that come in threes too, so before any of them realizes it I'm already munching on the third one. Haha! Take that you leechers!

Ahem.

Well what can I say? If you can insult them in front of their faces, that means you're good friends. And don't get me wrong. I did say that to them. I even wiggled the half-eaten cookie in front of them and said that they were leechers.

Alex even burst out laughing. And so did the rest too. Even Jasmine giggled at that.

One of the guys walked up to me and smiled, put a hand on my shoulder, gave a thumbs up, and said 'Good job.'

Thinking back on it, I smiled.

Now, getting back on track, I'll bring snacks and my camera.

That's actually about it really.

Well, the less I bring means less weight to carry for the day. So I just shrugged it off and went home.

The next morning, I quickly ate the breakfast my mom cooked for me, changed, prepared my stuff, and went out. Oh, and before you ask. My mom is only here because she had to pay my tuition fees 'cause you know, they can't trust me with large amounts of money. Not that I did anything wrong, it's just the way it is.

But of course, they do give me an allowance. The same amount of allowance you could see any other student receives. And the way they give it? They deposit it through my bank account and I just get it from there. Such thoughtful parents huh?

I say thoughtful because my dad works overseas. And well, as well as my mom. My little sister is with my dad so there's nothing to worry about. She does send me some texts from time to time. I even got a package from her one time. It was a birthday present, but I received it a few weeks after my birthday.

But still, it warmed my heart a bit that she would go through the trouble of sending me a gift.

If you're curious, the gift was a pair of headphones.

Not ones you connect to your phone and listen to though, no no no. It had its own memory and a wire to connect to your computer to transfer songs and at the same time charge it. It even has this feature where you can switch it to speakers, so that when it gets a bit tiring to wear it on your head, you can just put it around your neck and switch it.

The speakers are at the side of the headphones with one on the left and one on the other.

It was a great present. And it still is. As it helped me alleviate my boredom many times. It even helped me go to sleep to.

But enough about that.

I started jogging towards the park and and just walked around.

Today, I wore a black shirt with red designs, and a light jacket of the same colour. I wore brown pants and sneakers that matched my shirt and jacket. Meaning, it's also black and red.

I held the camera in my hands and just started taking pictures of what I thought is worth taking pictures of. Also, the camera in my hands aren't mine. They're Jasmine's. She lends me this at times when Alex decides to just gather a group of people to make a film.

So, as for the pictures I took, there's one where I caught a butterfly mid-flight; one where a boat is on the lake and the people on it were fishing; and some others I deem worthy enough to delete.

The reason why I'm doing this is because I'm waiting for Jasmine and Alex. Who supposedly said we should be here at six'oclock sharp. But now, it is around seven twenty and no sign of them anywhere~

yehey.

After a few minutes, they finally showed up.

“Yahoo~! Jacob! Ya wait long?” Alex asked.

I just rolled my eyes and answered sarcastically.

“No, not really. I mean, it's one hour and thirty minutes since I came here so no biggie.”

“Good then!”

Did she even hear what I said?

“So? Where are the others?”

“Most probably still at home. Hold on, I'll call them...” I said while asking for Jasmine's phone.

“W-wait, what do you mean still at home?! This is important you know?!” Alex complained.

“Maybe 'cause they know you guys'll be late? I mean, they told me to call them once you get here sooo, yeah. I'm calling them.” I said whilst fiddling with Jasmine's phone.

Her phone was pretty old-school. But that didn't matter. She also has another one and is the latest version of the iphone. Which she replaces with the next latest version. There are already some news about iphone 7 but I don't like the design. But either way, Jasmine's gonna buy it like anyways.

The reason why she has an old-school phone (which until today, I don't know the brand of) is because she uses it for contacts. The iphone is for more useless stuff like games and songs.

So that if it ever gets stolen, she still has her contacts.

I mean come on. Who would steal an old-school phone right? So, because of her, the rest of my classmates decided to follow her example and got their own 'contacts phone' and 'entertainment phone'.

I didn't even bother because you know, I don't use mine. Even though my parents were kind enough to give me an iphone 5s and everything.

Ahem, back on topic.

I called the guys and not even five minutes after sending multiple texts, some of them already arrived. Unlike two certain individuals. But I gotta say, 5 minutes is really really fast. I mean awfully fast.

“Oh, we were already close by so... yeah?” One of them said.

Okay. Nevermind. No wonder they were fast.

The others came at around twenty minutes or so and those that came at around forty minutes. You know, those kinds of people who are always late no matter what the occasion.

But still need them 'cause they're an essential part of the group. Yeah. Those kinds of people.

When they arrived, Alex lead the group and started. We went to our position from yesterday, which was beside the lake. The actors wore their costumes over their clothes because Alex said it made no difference even if they changed into it instead. Sooo, from there, we continued from where we left off.

“B-but Jherome!! Why?! Why can't I be with you anymore?!”

“Erica...”

Woots. Their good actors.

After a while we finally finished. And just before  lunch too.

“Alright guys!! Good job! But were not finished yet. So before we start again, let's eat!” Alex shouted as she pumped her fist in the air. Doing so, the others did so as well and cheered. Mostly because it's finally over. And that they get to eat. Well, it's not like I can say anything. I'm starved (even though I only held the camera).

But hey, it was hot out.

Alex  then lead us to a really good place. Not sure what it was called though. It was something like 'bar-TENDER' or something. Or yeah. It is 'bar-TENDER'. Although it's a bar, during the day time it's more like a restaurant. And it's rally good there. Wonder why I've never heard of it?

It was quite enjoyable too. It was a bit embarrassing for me since we took up a third of their place because of our number... but my friends become shameless because of the same reason. At least Jasmine seems to support me in this.

Looking at her, she only gave me a wry smile then took a sip from her orange juice.

After an hour or so, we (they) finally settled down and we left whilst thanking the owner. Looking around, I can see that everybody is quite full. Seeing as how a lot were holding their stomachs with really happy faces. Well, I am too actually.

Alex then lead us again and brought us back to the lake.

It seems although were done with the current scene, she wants to take some scenes that come later in the story. She said it's kind of troublesome changing venues all the time only to come back for that one scene. And besides, it's easier that way.

So we took some time to digest our food and at the same time memorize the script. Which was mostly for them to do. :P

Of course, I have it hard too. Alex is pretty picky when it comes to 'what angle' and 'from where' I should film and point the camera. As well as what effects to use and all that.

And so, we started filming again. But this time, the scene seems to be without the bishop.

“*sob *hick Jerome...” The actress acting as 'Erica' sat by the lake in her nun's habit and crouched there.

Alex seemed to be in a good mood. And after a few more scenes, we were finally done with this area. All of us  began packing our things and just hung out with eachother. We talked and discussed things especially about the film and how it turned out.

We talked about how 'maybe we should've done this', or how we liked that part, and of course 'how funny it was when that happened'. Because in every film, we know there will be bound to be some bloopers. Sometimes when 'Erica' made a mistake, she would adlib and make it all into a joke.

And funny enough, Alex gave her a thumbs up.

We kept talking a bunch until almost at the same time, everybody paused and looked towards somewhere. I can already guess what it is. Or who it is to be more exact. And it seems I was correct.

It's the girl with the bike again.

She wore a hoodie, but one with a different colour this time and a mini skirt. I see she is also wearing those same converse again. She seems to like them. Either that or that she has other pairs. Or maybe those are her only pairs. But that was unlikely. I mean, she's a girl right?

Well anyways, this time though, she just rode the bike normally.

And Alex was the first to act. She ran for the rentals and rented a bike. And drove off towards the girl. The others just blinked. Then realized. Then immediately hurried after her.

I felt sorry for those managing the bike rentals. They looked as if a mob of kids would stampede them.

The people around weren't any different. But after a while, they found out we were just normal kids and let us be.

As for me, I seem to have been left behind with Jasmine. Who, also seems to have been overwhelmed by what happened.

Laughing a bit, we just followed and walked towards the stands. We apologized to the rental keepers and went our merry way. And that way leads to our rowdy little friends. The others seem to be fooling around now and Alex was the first to make contact with the girl.

And it seems everyone backed off because of an unspoken rule. Which was 'first come, first serve'.

Don't know why though. Maybe 'cause Alex glared at anyone that got close? Or just that they actually know when to respect other's privacy. Because you know, mobbing at the girl and she doesn't even know who we are... isn't very appealing.

So, Jasmine and I only rode our bikes side by side. With her cheering me on and me trying to turn.

Until Alex jumped and scared us from behind.

“A-ah... Geez, Alex...” Jasmine sighed as she put a hand in front of her chest.

“Wahaha! Got you didn't I?” She laughed. “Well anyways! Let me introduce you!”

She said as she presented the girl before us.

She wore a light blue hoodie and a mini skirt. She had ankle high converse on and...

She's the girl that did all those amazing things on her bike.

“Um... hello?” She said a bit awkwardly.

“Hello.”

“Nice to meet you.”

I and jasmine said respectively.

Wow. To be able to meet the girl directly. If it weren't for my willful little friend here, I wonder if we could've possibly met her? As I kept thinking sarcastic thoughts, Alex then introduced us.

“This is Jasmine! The one I've been telling you about!” Alex then went around and hugged Jasmine from behind. But Jasmine thought it was normal and just scratched her cheek.

“And this goofball is Jacob.”

“Oi.”

To my reaction, the girl giggled a bit.

“Hey Jacob! You do know you have Jasmine right?!” Alex scolded me.

“What?” I asked confused.

But it seems Jasmine had a different reaction.

“A-alex?! What are you-?!”

“Nishishishi~” Alex just laughed and skipped over to the girl.

And as if it didn't happen, she introduced her.

“Jasmine, Jacob. This girl here is Chloe. Say hi guys!”

And from that day on, our circle of friends just got bigger.

--------------------------------------------------

Alright!

Incy here!

this little spider just wanted to say that... i enjoyed writing this chapter.

i mean, i put A LOT of actual occurences here. a lot of what my characters did here, i and my friends did as well.

sooo, if you enjoyed our little performances i hope you guys will continue reading.

i already got the entire story planned out and i plan to stock up on my chapters until it's finished.

and post it all at the same time.

kingdom come 2 is already half way and will also be posted as a whole.

cross hair(if you know what this is) is another of my stories and will also have a proper ending. albeit much longer than this story and kingdom come.

say kindom come has 6 chapters. which it does. and i plan for bicycle to have around 10.

crosshair is estimated to have more than that.

but until then, i'm just a little spider weaving small tales for you guys.

sooo, if you're still following me, a big thanks.

oh and another reason why i plan to post stories as a whole is because individual chapters with long time intervals in between will inevitably make the story lose appeal. sooo, yeah.

as for my other stories, like amaron online or plague. they are long term so for the above reason, i will finish my "endable" stories first. but i WILL work on my other stories. it's just that i'll be stocking up on them little by little.

well anyways! see you guys later!
