Luca saw the scene of his wife dying over and over and over. He'd sometimes see his mother and father too, frowning down on him, from the sidelines. He could only kneel on his knees, clenching his heart, his eyes lost in the abyss. He slowly stood up, trying to walk towards his kin.
His legs were shaking, as he saw the death of his wife over and over. He dared not to walk towards the scene since there were infected, but he tried. He dragged his feet towards them, he dragged himself there. He tried his best to get the courage he didn't once have. "This is all a lie, I'm just having one of those nightmares again or I'm already died."
Luca suddenly stopped, realizing this might be the "Afterlife" and he went to hell, since it feels like it. He continued limping, "What more do i have to lose? I'm already dead!" He scoffed loudly. He reached to her wife, stuck in the loop.
"Stop." He said gently, to his wife. "I know this is all just my imagination....but.....Suzie....I'm sorry I was such a disappointment. I'm sorry i couldn't fulfill the vows i made to you, to live long and a happy life together. I couldn't be there for you when I should've been."
Luca's eyes an emotionless void.
"No, Luca. It wasn't your fault. I wanted to say it to you but...It wasn't your fault. It's ok. We'll meet in the next world, Luca." Said a genteel voice as a response to Luca's agony. It was her wife's. Luca didn't care what this place was....but all he cared was he got to meet her wife again and apologize to her, embrace her.
The infected around the Suzie disappeared and the entire region around Luca and Suzie bloomed into a field of lavenders and orange Tulips. They both fell onto the field and embraced each other in a care-free lenience. Holding each other in an embracing ,reminiscing silence, as they both just looked at the flowers and held each other tight.
Luca knew this moment was mortal, he could feel it, a sense of ache in his heart. After a while, Luca said to his wife "Time to go?". "Yes." Suzie replied, "We will sure meet another time in a sunny field with our feet filled with colorful flowers." "No, I don't wanna let you go again Suzie. I can't live this life of emptiness and this deafening silence coming from within me. It's aching my heart, please don't leave me Suzie."
"You never let me go in the first place, Luca. It's okay. I understand. It'll all be fine. Let me go. And you'll find a voice from within which will tell you what to do. It'll give you purpose, you will find purpose. Now, let me go, Luca." Suzie continued.
To which Luca said, "No, Suzie. You were my purpose. I lost everyone. You were the only one left in my life. I can't lose it all again, Suzie. Please.....Stay."
Suzie replied by "You still have the best person you can rely on...yourself. You even have good friends like Johnathan and Gabriel, now. You'll be fine. Think of me as a memory you will love and cherish, but not something you will cling on to. Promise me that." Suzie said as she slowly turned to ash, in Luca's embrace, as he wasn't ready to let her go.
He opened his mouth and was looking like he was attempting to scream, as he couldn't carry this weight anymore. But he wasn't able to scream, he wasn't able to say anything in this rage filled, feral state. It was only after he calmed down by meditating, could he hear his voice again. The beautiful fields of flowers were gone. The endless, horizonless white void was all Luca could see.
"It's funny. It really is. All of this. Seeing my dead wife, crying over her leaving me, BEING STUCK IN THIS PLACE!!" as he began to start maniacally. "It echoes here too!" his laughs continue, as they slowly turn into soft cries and he begins to sob up intensely. "All i wanted was a homely feeling, Why! WHY! WHY! WHY!!?" as he screamed into the void at the top of his lungs, some parts of the void were starting to appear violet and blue, as Luca's decent into madness continued.
"Suzie!" He shouted in writhing agony, staring up into the infinite blank void's horizon being colored red.
