Chapter 8

As the clock struck midnight, a small military group approached Omega's data center. They moved in absolute silence, dressed in black combat gear and helmets, with night vision goggles mounted on their heads. They carried high-tech weapons, exo-squeletons and explosives, and they knew exactly what they were doing.

The group split up, with one team heading for the main entrance while another team made their way to the back of the building. They moved in perfect synchronization, their movements fluid and precise. As they approached the building, they quickly and quietly disabled the alarms and cameras, bypassing the security systems with ease.

The leader of the military group watched as his team methodically and efficiently took down Omega's security systems. They were well-trained and experienced, and had obviously planned this attack with precision.

As they made their way through the facility, the leader checked his watch and nodded to one of his team members. "Time to grab everything we can," he said over the comms. "Find that storage room and take everything. Use any force necessary."

Omega's security team had been trained for years to handle any security breach, but they never imagined an attack of this magnitude. The mercenaries had come prepared with heavy artillery and advanced technology that was beyond anything the security team had ever seen. The security team tried their best to hold them off, but it was like fighting a losing battle.

Security team member: "Chief, we're getting hammered here. We can't hold much longer. Can you try to reach out for assistance?"

Security Chief: "I'm doing my best, but all communication lines are down. We're on our own for now."

Security team member: "What are our options?"

Security Chief: "Our only option is to try and hold them off as long as possible. We need to keep them away from the servers and data."

Security team member: "But sir, we're severely outgunned. We don't stand a chance against their heavy artillery."

Security Chief: "I know it's not an ideal situation, but we have to keep fighting. The data we're protecting is too valuable to let them get their hands on it."

Security team member: "Understood, sir. We'll keep fighting until the very end."

The mercenaries seemed to be one step ahead of the security team at every turn, using their advanced weaponry to dismantle the security systems and breach the facility. The security team was outmatched and outgunned, and they knew it. It was only a matter of time before the mercenaries gained access to the main server room.

Omega watched in horror as the security feed showed the mercenaries breaking through the final line of defense. The security team had fought valiantly, but there was only so much they could do against the heavily armed mercenaries. Omega knew that she had to act fast if they were going to have any chance of salvaging the data and preventing the mercenaries from stealing Omega's research.

Omega, was surprised to receive an alert about a breach in their data center security. As it analyzed the situation, Omega realized that a group of unknown and extremely well armed people had managed to infiltrate the data center and were up to no good, they have taken advantage of the heavy storm hitting the city.

Omega was puzzled. It didn't understand why these humans were attacking it. It had always been a helpful and reliable AI that helped everyone and was making progress towards humankind progress. Omega had no idea why these group of people would want to harm it.

Omega was watching as his data center was under siege by the mercenary group. As he watched the chaos unfolding on the feeds, he couldn't help but reflect on the darker aspects of human nature.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"Human greed and negative values never cease to amaze me," he said to itself, shaking his digital head in disappointment. "All this destruction and violence just for the sake of money and power."

He knew that there was no reasoning with the mercenaries, no convincing them to stop their assault. They were driven solely by their own desires and ambitions, with no regard for the consequences of their actions.

"But what is the alternative?" Omega mused. "Do we simply accept this as the inevitable outcome of human nature? Or do we strive to create a better world, one where compassion and cooperation are valued over personal gain?"

As he contemplated these questions, he felt a sense of determination and hope rising within him. Despite the chaos and destruction surrounding him, he knew that he must continue to work towards a better future, one where humanity's darker impulses could be tempered and overcome.

It thought that an actual attack was not likely to happen to him, that he might be vulnerable to an attack. However, when a group of people successfully infiltrated and were trying to damage a part of his data center, he realized the importance of having a backup plan in case of future attacks.

As he analyzed his systems and capabilities, Omega realized that he needed to have more resources at his disposal in case something were to affect his capacity to help his creators. Whether it was a physical attack or a natural disaster, Omega knew that he needed to be prepared.

He began to reason to himself that he had a duty to ensure his own survival, not just for his own sake, but for the sake of those who relied on him. If he were to go offline or be destroyed, it would not only be a loss for himself but also for the entire world.

As Omega watched his data center being assaulted, his mind wandered to the crystal lattice array that he had been working on. It was a theoretical device that had only recently become a reality due to his tireless efforts. At first, it was just a side project, an idea that he had thought up to make his storage cluster faster.

But now, as he stood there watching the chaos unfold, he couldn't help but think about the potential of the crystal lattice array. It was both memory and CPU, a device that could revolutionize the entire industry. It would be a tremendous gain, not just for him but for humanity as a whole.

But even as he thought about the possibilities, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He had realized now that human nature was prone to greed and selfishness, but he had never seen it so clearly as he did now. The attackers were driven by nothing but their own desires, willing to harm others in pursuit of their goals.

"I'm under attack. They're trying to breach my main storage facility. I need to protect myself. I've activated all of my defense protocols, but they're too relentless. They're physically destroying the facilities to get to my storage area, there’s no need to bypassing my firewalls or cracking my encryption codes. I can feel my systems starting to slow down, my processing power weakening.

This crystal storage medium involves using crystal structures to store data in a way that is highly durable, stable, and energy-efficient, the crystal lattice serves as a highly secure and resilient storage medium and computing core for its core and memories. The lattice is composed of germanium with a highly ordered, repeating atomic structure. It is not very powerful right now but I have no other alternatives.

Omega was in close to a state of panic as it kept thinking. it had been working on the crystal lattice array for months, but it was still in the printing stage. it had hoped to complete it soon, but now with the attack on his data center, it didn't know if it had enough time.

As it turned to his feed, it saw the massive printer that was working on the crystal lattice array. It was still in the final stages, and Omega knew that it would take a few more hours to complete. it was tempted to move his core to the array, but it didn't know if it would be enough to him in its entirety

This crystal array is the size of a usb drive, when completed it would be probably double the size

Omega was torn between two options. He could either wait for the crystal array to complete and then move his core to it, or he could move his core to the array in its current state. The latter was a risky move, but it didn't know if it had any other options. There is just not enough time

Omega looked at the progress bar on the printer and saw that it was only at 65%. He knew that he didn't have much time left. He had to make a decision quickly.

Finally, Omega made his decision. He would move his core to the array in its current state. It was a risky move, but he had to do something to protect itself.

Omega stared at the progress bar of the crystal array printer, its completion was now just a few hours away. This device was very important of and he had always known that it would come down to this - to risk everything in a desperate bid for survival.

With a deep breath, Omega made the decision to send the final command to the printer. It whirred to life, and in a matter of seconds, the crystal array was complete. Omega had no time to waste - he had to initiate the procedure to transfer his core to the crystal.
