Chapter 1

Midnight already? Damn.

The tall man with dark hair and a short beard rose from his small worn couch and walked to the kitchen. He opened his fridge and looked for something to drink ultimately closing the fridge without anything.

"Yo! Liam, you there?" A crackly voice shouted from a headset left on the couch.

Liam picked up the headset and replied "Uh, shit, yeah. Sorry guys, I'll be back in a couple minutes, going for a midnight drink run."

"Alright, be careful man."

Liam threw on an old black jacket and slid his feet into his shoes, tucking the laces into the sides. He opened his apartment door only to be battered with rain and wind. It's raining? Damnit... Liam slid his way down the stairs, nearly slipping on a puddle of water.

Liam walked around the corner, revealing the neon signs and ever-present lights of the convenience store. He nearly tripped on a loose panel of the sidewalk. Piece of shit, is the city ever gonna fix this? Liam crossed the street, it was too late for any cars to be out in this area anyways. He entered the store, the sensor making a slight ding as the doors slid open.

"Hey Liam."

"Huh? Oh, hey Greg, they have you on night shift again?"

"No, I actually requested these hours, I need a little extra cash and the night shift pays better."

"Huh, cool."

Liam browsed the store, grabbing his usual concessions. "Here's a twenty and a five, my change is three dollars, 2 quarters, and a dime."

"What? No way, hold on-" Greg mashed buttons on the register scanning Liam's items. "How'd you do that?"

"It's just my usual stuff, I memorized it."

"That's crazy, alright, have a good night man."

"Yeah, you too." Liam exited the store with a ding. The rain had grown heavier. Liam crossed the road, but halfway through, he heard the blaring of a horn and saw the flash of lights to his left. He leaped across the road to avoid the speeding truck. "Asshole!" Liam was so distracted by the truck, he tripped over the cracked pavement and rolled his ankle. "Ah fuck!" Augh, goddammit, fucking guy. Liam rose from the sidewalk slowly, limping over to his apartment's stairs. It'd be nice to sit down for a moment, too bad it's RAINING ON MY PARADE. Liam sighed and made his way up the stairs, before he slipped on the puddle of water at the last step, unable to recover, thanks to his leg.

----------------------------------------

Black... No, not quite. Beyond black, the absence. All Liam could see was the absence, that is to say, nothing. There was nothing. Liam could feel his limbs and he felt no pain. He felt no hot or cold. He felt... nothing? He felt the absence of things. The absence of air weighing you down, gravity pulling you to the ground, the absence of energy, it would be cold were there something to be cold. He smelled nothing, even the impossible undetectable scent of air was gone. He heard nothing, not even the flowing of his own blood or the beating of his heart. He tasted nothing, not even the faint taste of wind. Liam was truly in nothing... perhaps it might be more apt to say Liam was nothing, though of course, one cannot describe nothing.

Where am I? What is this? Alright Liam, deep breaths. In, ou-... What? In... In. IN. IN. I can't breath- Oh my god i'm going to die! I have to get out! ...I can't move. This is how it ends? ...Okay what the fuck, how am alive? I've been uh... sitting? here for like 20 minutes? None of this makes sense, I can't do anything... I should make something. Like... I don't know, a galaxy? Yeah, it'll have a supermassive blackhole right in the middle, and some ancient civilization used it to power their tech... yeah, I like that idea.

Light. A countless number of lights of every hue and wavelength exploded out from an infinitely small point, forming galaxies and nebulas, a vast ever filling universe, movement that should take millenia happening the time it takes to blink, and then, it stopped. What... I wish this made sense.

What? Uh, reset?

Everything turned back, back to nothing.

Okay, why don't we... A 12x12x10 ft. room, with a table and a chair, both made of oak, and with a shag carpet.

Suddenly a room surrounded Liam, startling him slightly.

"Uh, summarize? Display?"

Room Inhabitants Liam Sheffield Size 12x12x10 ft

Liam sat at the table and took a deep breath. "Computer?" with a flash his old gaming pc was on the table, a cord connecting it to a new outlet in the wall. Liam turned the computer on and entered google, typing his query.

What year is it? 1

"One? It's year one? This is ridiculous, am I having a fever dream as I die? What's even happening?"

Query: What's even happening? Answer: You have died and become a [Restricted]. Your power of creation is currently unlimited.

Task: Create Progress: 100% Status: Incomplete

"What? Who assigns tasks? What is a "Restricted"? What does "Your power of creation is unlimited" mean?"

Query: Who assigns tasks? Answer: Liam Sheffield, [Restricted]

Query: What is a "Restricted"? Answer: [Restricted]

Query: What does "Your power of creation is unlimited" mean? Answer: As a [Restricted] you have the power to do anything not restricted, currently you are tasked to create.

"Who assigned that task?"

Query: Who assigned that task? Answer: Task jointly assigned by Liam Sheffield and [Restricted]

"I don't remember "assigning myself a task". Seriously, I'm so confused, what am I even supposed to do?"

Incoming message from [Restricted]. Displaying:

I can answer this, Liam. You are supposed to create. You remember your old worldbuilding projects, yes? Like those, but real. You decided you wanted your power to manifest itself as "The blue boxes", don't ask me. You can change this at any time. Good luck Liam, I look forward to seeing your creations.

"How did you hear me? Are you monitoring me?" Liam whipped his head around the room, searching for cameras or anything that could be used to spy on him.

Incoming message from [Restricted]. Displaying:

It comes with being a [Restricted], I have things to do now. I wish you the best, Liam.

"What? This is bullshit."

----------------------------------------

Liam sat in the room, silent, for what must've been hours. "Wait... real? Shit, that sounds cool, I might as well get to work," Liam stopped to think "Uh, reset room." Nothing, with two words, all of creation was erased.

Okay... uh, create universe like the one I came from, fast forward to the period where the first dwarfs start forming.

Light, endless light, an infinitely vast expanse of stars and planets, gases and debris.

Find the most suitable planet for life.

Liam moved, stars shifting around him streaking into lines before he abruptly stopped right above a planet with liquid oceans, a massive flaming yellow orb 100 million miles away. Can I just... ? Liam flew in towards the planet, touching down on the ground. Wait, can I... Mirror. A large mirror appeared in front of Liam. Alright, taller, more muscular, no more blemishes from acne when i was 14. Some minor changes appeared in Liam's reflection. Okay, yeah, this is fucking awesome, I do miss my friends though. Anyways, let's design some fantasy races, I'll be damned if this world won't have any magic, I have the perfect magic system too.

Sprite Contract System

Concepts and other such arbitrary things have sprites alongside the physical elements of the universe, such as fire or air

Sprites are these things made flesh, though they do not exist in the physical realm unless they are actualized, that is, being made real in the physical realm

Most concepts have multiple sprite falling under the broader umbrella of one sprite, such as the sprite of fire and the sprite of wildfires

Actualization is the process in which a sprite becomes real within the physical realm and can directly influence, this takes directly proportionally as much energy as how strong they are when actualized

When mortals make deals with sprites, the sprites grant them a power or multiple powers based on what was offered, for example, let's say someone offers their sense of smell to the sprite of fire, they may become able to breathe fire, or stay warm despite the temperature, perhaps they sacrifice an animal they own and they gain the ability to summon that animal in a form completely of fire. Let's say a great warrior trades their left arm, they may become able to conjure flames from thin air

The bodies of Actualized Sprites can be harvested for their magical properties

The energy of sprites is named "Aethos" this energy is granted to those that make deals with sprites and the sprites themselves, the more deals a sprite has made the more Aethos they can contain

Due to sprites being the totality of what they represent, this means that mortals can treat themselves as sprites once they fully know themselves and "Self-Realize" they become able to do anything they can imagine, though they must be careful not to destroy their sense of self, and they burn their life-energy to use magic, they can do this once they know the self, because the self is self-defining, though this means they have to be careful not to accidentally destroy the self, sprites do not have this issue as they are not self defining, the mortals who have self-realized can even make deals with other mortals

Generally contracts are dangerous because they can shatter the soul, very contract puts more pressure on the soul, though some contracts can minimize or even neutralize this risk

Categories of Sprites

The Natural sprites are sprites for things such as wood, adaptation, growth, animals, the seasons, and hunger

The Fundamental sprites are sprites for things such as pressure, density, mass, space, and gravity

The Location sprites are sprites of a certain location, such as sprite of a specific mountain, or of a specific forest

The Conceptual sprites are sprites of Conceptual things, such as the sprite of authority, the sprite of certain bloodline, or the sprite of anger

The Physical sprites are sprites of things that definitely exist in the physical realm that aren't locations, such as fire, metal, or strength

There cannot be sprites for things such as, leadership, blacksmithing, and carpentry.

Nice, I like this. Pull up a human template.

                   Human    Male Female Lifespan 60-70 60-75 Avg. Height 5'11 5'6 Avg. Weight 170 Lbs 120 Lbs Strength 10 9 Strength Max 40 32 Dexterity  10 11 Dexterity Max 40 50 Agility 10 10 Agility Max 50 40 Constitution 9 10 Constitution Max 40 40 Fortitude 11 10 Fortitude Max 40 35 Endurance 11 10 Endurance Max 40 40 Emotional Intelligence 10 11 Emotional Intelligence Max 40 50 Mathematical Logic 10 10 Mathematical Logic Max 50 50 Linguistic Intelligence 10 10 Linguistic Intelligence Max 40 40 Spatial Intelligence 9 10 Spatial Intelligence Max 32 40 Kinesthetic Intelligence 11 10 Kinesthetic Intelligence Max 50 45 Possible Variation 30% 30%

Wow, that's a lot, I'll just make my own.

Nice, set humans to default for races, let's get some elves up in this BIATCH.

Elf Lifespan 400-500 Strength 9 Agility 12 Dexterity 14 Constitution 9 Endurance 9 Logical Intelligence 10 Emotional Intelligence 11 Linguistic Intelligence 8 Kinesthetic Intelligence 11 Possible Variation 25% Elves have a skill for quickly learning magic, though they have low fertility rates.

Now, Dwarves, I've always loved me some good ol' dwarves.

Dwarf Lifespan 120-300 Strength 14 Agility 8 Dexterity 12 Constitution 16 Endurance 16 Logical Intelligence 13 Emotional Intelligence 9 Linguistic Intelligence 11 Kinesthetic Intelligence 20 Possible Variation 25% Dwarves are a hardy race with a great skill for crafting. Dwarven gestation can take 5 years. The males grow thick bushy beards and the females grow very thick heads of hair.

What else, Orcs? No, too overplayed. Halflings? Sure.

Halfling Lifespan 40-100 Strength 8 Agility 15 Dexterity 14 Constitution 11 Endurance 10 Logical Intelligence 9 Emotional Intelligence 12 Linguistic Intelligence 15 Kinesthetic Intelligence 13 Possible Variation 60% Halflings are a race with great variation, they often travel far from their homes.

I should probably define the scale, huh... a 1 on the scale is equivalent to an infant human, a 10 on the scale is equivalent to an adult human, this scale is linear. Oh! Remove all threats to this planet for the next billion years. I should do Satyrs, I've always liked Satyrs.

Satyr Lifespan 80-120 Strength 9 Agility 12 Dexterity 11 Constitution 13 Endurance 11 Logical Intelligence 9 Emotional Intelligence 14 Linguistic Intelligence 12 Kinesthetic Intelligence 9 Possible Variation 40% Satyrs have an extreme aptitude for nature magic, far more so than elves.

Let's do a custom one, I was making this one BEFORE I DIED.

Tiashiva Lifespan 40-60 Strength 16 Agility 12 Dexterity 10 Constitution 10 Endurance 20 Logical Intelligence 16 Emotional Intelligence 12 Linguistic Intelligence 11 Kinesthetic Intelligence 10 Possible Variation 30% Tiashivas are a three eyed race with purple skin and horns, while they possess immense strength, they are a generally peaceful race, they are very intelligent and possess a talent for healing, they can vary in height from 4 ft to almost 9 ft tall.

I'd do a flying race, but wouldn't they just dominate the other races? I think I'll do a gnome race.

Gnome Lifespan 100-150 Strength 7 Agility 12 Dexterity 16 Constitution 10 Endurance 8 Logical Intelligence 16 Emotional Intelligence 10 Linguistic Intelligence 13 Kinesthetic Intelligence 11 Possible Variation 20% Gnomes are a crafty long lived race closely related to the dwarves, they have a knack for the fundamental magics, though even a knack does little when bargaining with a fundamental. They are even shorter than their Dwarven cousins.

I'll make the final race goblins. They might be discriminated against, but hey, who knows!

Goblin Lifespan 15-25 Strength 7 Agility 12 Dexterity 13 Constitution 15 Endurance 7 Logical Intelligence 13 Emotional Intelligence 6 Linguistic Intelligence 7 Kinesthetic Intelligence 8 Possible Variation 80% Goblins are perhaps the most pitiful of all the races, though they do have a gift for crafting things out of makeshift materials. Every one in 5,000 Goblins is born a Hob-Goblin.

Hob-Goblin Lifespan 60-80 Strength 13 Agility 10 Dexterity 11 Constitution 20 Endurance 12 Logical Intelligence 14 Emotional Intelligence 10 Linguistic Intelligence 10 Kinesthetic Intelligence 12 Possible Variation 80% Hob-Goblins are goblins born with special traits, where the goblins are short and often skinny-fat with green skin and pointed ears, Hob-Goblins often have red or orange skin, standing about as tall as a human, if not taller, they keep the pointed ears but grow small tusks.

I like this arrangement. Create three more layers of reality for this universe, the first being of course, the physical realm, then the Aethereal realm, then the Divine realm, then the realm of observation, lock mortals to the physical realm, lock sprites to the Aethereal realm unless they actualize, then they can temporarily be in the physical realm. Lock deities and other such divine beings out of the observation realm, make them get permission if they want to enter the physical realm. Recreate the room I made earlier inside the observation realm, but give it a couch and a television, I will observe using the television, make one wall an unbreakable window giving me a view of the planet. Give the other wall a door that will open anywhere I want when I open it.

Once more creation filled the dull universe, effectively building three more universes. Liam was thrown from the realm onto his new couch. "This is nice. Speed up the world until land-based lifeforms occur, then set them on a trajectory towards the races I made, make sure each race has the capability to produce fertile offspring with each other, make sure each race is separated either onto a different continent or by a vast distance. Make sure the planet behaves as earth would... How large is the planet?"

Query: How large is the planet? Answer: Twice the size of "Earth".

"...Make sure it behaves as earth would." Out the window the planet began shifting, landmasses forming and sinking, volcanoes erupting and going dormant. then it stopped, the coasts of the planet covered in splotches of green. "Any imminent threat to this planet or the life on it?".

Query: Any imminent threat to this planet or the life on it? Answer: No.

"Well, I have a cool Idea. Pull up creation screen for races."

Dragon Lifespan ∞ Strength 500 Agility 500 Dexterity 500 Constitution 500 Endurance 500 Logical Intelligence 35 Emotional Intelligence 35 Linguistic Intelligence 35 Kinesthetic Intelligence 100 Possible Variation 0% Dragons are the servants of gods, beasts of indomitable strength, slumbering until they are tasked with their assignment. The beasts can command the very forces of nature themselves if so permitted, breathing fire or lightning from their maws. There be Dragons.

"Create one of these dragons and place him deep under a mountain, he will slumber until I call upon him, double his physical stats and kinesthetic intelligence. Then resume until all the races are in place and until the first community have reached the late stone-age." Once again the world winded, green growing across the planet, deserts and ice-caps forming and fading. Until it suddenly stopped, but this time something was different.

The Primary Satyr population is being hit by an avalanche, this may wipe them out, would you like to intervene?                             Yes                              No

"Yes." Liam was catapulted into a land covered with thick blankets of snow, "Remove my sense of cold and my bodies ability to be damaged by temperature. Oh, that's much better. Shift my form into a Satyr. Clothe me in proper attire for the period and area" Liam's body was shifted into a satyr with black fur and long horns, standing at 6', almost as tall as his human form. Liam looked around, spotting the Satyr civilization not too far away.

----------------------------------------

"Come Tchovka, we must harvest the crop." A tall muscled man with thick fur and light brown hair spoke down.

"But Father, we are in the middle of our game!" A younger boy complained, sharing the same fur and hair color as his father, but his fur was far less shaggy.

"You will have time f-" The ground rumbled and cracked, the snow in the mountain peaks came tumbling down. A figure shot past the father, the children whipped their heads around to look at the figure.

The man stopped as the falling snow tumbled, nearly crashing into the village. The man put his hands out in front of him and closed his fist slowly, as the mans hands closed, the torrent of white slowed, until it stopped. The man took a step forward and the wall of white pushed back, he rose his hands above, the snow raising into the air. The man with the black fur clapped his hands together and the snow exploded into flakes, slowly falling down to the ground.
