100.1 God of Death and Death of God

‘Just how the fuck did I manage to get here?’

The young man was tall, with olive skin and dark eyes. He wore a flat cap to cover his head, and had a thick beard, one he was allowed to grow only for six months of the year. He wore a three piece suit, charcoal in colour, with a white shirt and a green tie. He wore a brown belt, a chronograph on his left wrist, with a brown strap, and some brown oxfords. He wielded a cane too, not that he needed it.

This was the first world he had come across since stepping out his front door. He sighed and then pulled the cap a little lower before he stepped forward, only to stop.

“Excuse me,” he said, turning around on his heel and then smiling. “It seems I’m lost.”

Above him was a young boy sitting on a floating throne. His hair was dark, his skin pale, and he gave the scent of death. His eyes were tired, as though he hadn’t slept in centuries.

“That appears to be the case,” the boy. “I’ve become used to seeing lost little lambs.”

‘This mother fucker, did he call me a little lamb?’ “I am Galahad, it’s an honour to meet you.”

“Sozain, God of Death.”

“I do apologise for intruding so rudely on the realm,” Galahad said.

‘Is he poking fun of me?’ Sozain thought. “I’m afraid I can’t spend too long here, for there are many matters to attend to.”

“Would you be willing to assist me back home?” Galahad asked. “I would surely appreciate it.”

“I’m a little too busy to help you, you’re going to have to find someone else.”

“I suppose I’ll have to take a gander around,” Galahad said, glancing around casually.

‘Is that a threat?’ Sozain turned around to face him. “I would suggest you stay put.”

“Oh? Unfortunately, I have a meeting to attend to, and it would be rather rude if I were to arrive lat-” A beam of green energy shot past Galahad, exploding almost a quarter mile away from him. The ground shook as Sozain stared down tiredly.

“I said, stay put.”

“It seems as though you are a rude little boy,” Galahad replied.

The air grew still and cold. Another beam shot down towards Galahad, and he cut through it with his cane, causing the spell to dissipate.

‘This boy!’ Sozain thought. ‘He casually dismissed my ability?’

“Since you were the first one to attack, I do hope you forgive my rudeness in retaliating,” Galahad said. He pointed at the boy with the end of his cane. “Though I believe you do need a little disciplining.” A white beam shot out, as thin as a needle, and exploded around the little boy god.

A black sphere remained from the blast, and then revealed the boy to be completely fine.

‘This little shit really managed to deal with that?’

‘What was that beam? Isn’t that way too powerful?! Just who did my stupid father send this time?!’

“Impressive,” Sozain said. ‘What kind of monster are you?’

“I must agree, I hadn’t expected you to be so powerful.” ‘You little shit, just you wait!’

The pair remained staring at one another. Sozain raised his hand. ‘Take this!’ “Blackness Roams, Suffer.” In an instant, the ground turned black, and then hordes of skeletons began to emerge.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

‘This boy, he knows Tamaha’s Second Grimoire?’ Galahad pulled down the peak of his flat cap. “You don’t need to continue to greet me,” he said as his cane turned into a blade. “I already feel so welcome.”

‘What’s he going to do?’

Galahad swung his blade from left to right. “Return to Slumber,” he said, as a small white light appeared and then it flashed across the skeletons, turning them to dust.

“…” ‘What the hell is that? How did he get rid of my army so quickly?’ Sozain cocked his head slightly to the side. The pair were still testing one another.

“I believe it’s my turn?” Galahad said as Sozain gathered his powers, severing a few of his chains to his worshippers, except for those which were his most devout followers. “I will stick with magic, since it’s your forte,” the suited man said. He raised a finger casually and then pointed up to the sky. “Sun Fall,” he said.

A tiny bead of light fell towards Sozain, who stared up at it as though it bored him. The black sphere appeared again, beginning to swallow him home. Then the bead expanded, and grew so white hot that the air distorted around them. It flickered in and out, as though it was too powerful to exist, and then a flash covered the world to be seen for miles, as though lightning had struck.

‘This shit really managed to defend against that?’

‘This boy almost destroyed my priceless artefact! Father, if I meet you again, I’m going to beat you!’

“Impressive,” Sozain said casually. “I believe it’s time we fought seriously.”

‘You little shit! If I do that, I’ll end up destroying this world!’ Galahad looked down to the earth, or what remained of the ground. He had destroyed a large chunk of the earth, leaving a crater. “If it would please you,” he said.

Sozain’s hand turned black as the sun above them matched, and the world fell in darkness. ‘I’m sorry, children of my world, but I’m going to need to fight with all I have.’ “Come Forth, Angel of Death.”

Galahad was already preparing as his own spells, realising that he’d need to power up if he wanted to end this battle quickly. The Angel of Death was a knight twice his size, made of the souls of the dead. It emerged from the earth like a popped blister. If he needed to, he’d use that, but he didn’t want to rely on it just yet.

“A pleasure to meet you,” Galahad said, his entire body filled with magic. His beard had begun to sway from the strength of all the magic.

‘This boy is way too powerful to be in this world… I’m going to need some help.’

Galahad stepped forward and then disappeared as though he had stopped existing. He appeared a blink later, clashing his blade with the Angel of Death, their blades meeting together. The wave of force caused the trees to uproot, and the ground around them cracked from the effort.

‘Don’t leave!’ Sozain commanded the Angel of Death, who had almost begun retreating from the foe after that single clash. Its blade was cracked, even though it had been made of Sozain’s power centuries ago. ‘Cracked? Wh-why is it cracked?’

The Angel of Death remained, though as it swung, Galahad caught the blade barehanded.

‘Hah! Take that boy!’

Galahad held onto the blade. ‘Ow! Fuck! What a mistake! Shit! You fucking!’ “Oh, I see you’re trying to take my life…” he said, casually. He looked up to meet the Angel of Death’s gaze and then smiled. “How adorable.”

The Angel of Death began to visibly sweat as his blade shuddered. The entire forest had already died in the ten seconds that the young man had held the blade and he didn’t seem phased in the slightest. The blade then shattered, and the shards disappeared with a wave of Sozain’s hand.

‘This boy! He’s going to kill everyone! I need to stop him!’ Sozain looked down to his feet, wondering if he should finally stand. ‘No! Not yet!’

The Angel of Death remained still as Galahad smiled at it. “Why don’t you leave your father and I to speak?” Galahad asked politely. The Angel of Death slowly crawled into the hole it had come from, looking up at Sozain, wondering what it had done to anger the god to let it up against this monster.

Sozain remained still, his eyes glaring down at the young man. ‘Bandlor! Where are you?! I don’t want to fight!’

‘Fuck! That really hurts still! This shit! Aaaaah! Fuck!’ “You have a cute little child,” Galahad said.

“Yes, they are my joy and pride. I thank you for letting it go.” ‘What can I do? What can I do? Think!’

“I’m not interested in playing with children,” Galahad said. ‘You mother fucker! Just you wait!’

The pair stared at one another, fighting with their eyes. The two were so powerful that they could fight with their intent, judging on another from their movements. Galahad remained staring up at the boy god, and Sozain remained staring down at the young man.

‘This little shit, do I really need to use that?’

‘This boy, must I stand?’

It was only then the pair of them paused from their mental battle, having already destroyed the world thrice over in their duel, all without a victor. From the dark sun, a small purple tear appeared, and then out of it came it.

It was a mass of purple and true evil, incomprehensible evil. The sounds of a thousand worlds dying echoed across the pair of them, and then an oozing eye appeared.

“You taste just like him,” it said as the darkness engulfed the pair of them.
