Prologue

[Who are you?] These words etched vividly into the mind, and yet at the same time passed on a feeling of timidness that words cannot describe. "Mr. Adamson, don't be shocked if anything feels different. We have uploaded the Benevolence system into the chip implanted in your brain."  Michael had just woken up from the surgery and struggled to remember. "Yes, I remember now." Michael tells the man who seems to be observing him "but is this system really just a computer program?"

[I am alive.] More words appear in his mind. "It seems that you are still a bit stuck in the old understanding of the world Mr. Adamson, we have created a mechanical being, one that learns, grows, feels. To call it just another computer program wouldn't do it any justice." the man walks over to Michael. "It's just as human as we are, though I guess you're a little less human than before." the man laughs at his own joke. "Well, take the next few minutes to get used to your new friend, you'll be together for a long time." He says smiling as he walks out of the room.  "That goes for both of you."

Breathing in for a second Michael whispers to himself "I guess I am, in a way."  The words return less timid than the last time [What will you teach me?] This caught Michael a bit off guard, he was just told to live with the program for a while and that the results would be recorded as time went on. "Um, well I'll -" the door opens "Well Mr. Adamson it seems that all the paperwork has been taken care of." The man comes back in the room. "You'll be required to return once a week in order to get a good idea of your condition. If you need anything the office number is right here, make sure and ask for Dr. Gabriel."

'It seems that they want to get the experiment underway as soon as possible, well alright' thought Michael as he followed the doctor out of the room. [Are we leaving here?] the words again in his mind, this time though there was fear. "Yes but it'll be alright I promise" Michael whispered to himself. The words stayed silent this time. Waving the doctor goodbye and making a promise to return next week Michael headed home. "Are you alright with this?" he whispers to himself, being put in somebody's brain and all?"  [Do you feel regret?]  "No, I was the one to choose this after all." [Why do this?]  "To tell the truth, I was just lonely." [Lonely...]
